@a1ex:  Seems like n1 or r2 have less color noise than others.

@g3goo  When I use --black-fix the dng cannot be read on Adobe Camera Raw and the command prompt shows "Cold pixels : 200000" see below:

MLV Dumper v1.0
-----------------

Mode of operation:
   - Input MLV file: 'M07-1506.mlv'
   - Setting black level to 2048
   - Convert to DNG frames
   - Output into 'M07-1506.raw'
File M07-1506.mlv opened
File M07-1506.m00 not existing.
Processing...

Vertical stripes correction:
  1.00000    1      1      1      1      1      1      1
Cold pixels : 200000
Reached end of chunk 1/1 after 306 blocks
Processed 146 video frames
Done

edit: using the windows version

Some color and resolution testing of latest :  magiclantern-raw_video_10bit_12bit.2017Jan05.5D3123

Original image from CR2 (cropped)  taken in manual mode ISO 100   White Balance in manual at 3900K
When open in Adobe Camera Raw WB reads:  Temperature +3900 and Tint +7

Recorded video in Manual Mode ISO100 WB=3900K and extracted DNG for comparison with good exposure and then with low light but bumped exposure by +4EV

TEST1: Properly exposed video Image from DNG.. Note that when I open with Adobe Camera RAW it reads: Temperature +5500 and  Tint +19
On the left are the un-edited images and on the right I have used "Auto WB" in Adobe Camera Raw

TEST2: Low light exposed video image from DNG..  Note that when I open with Adobe Camera RAW it reads: Temperature +5500 and  Tint +19
On the left are the un-edited images and on the right I have used "Auto WB" in Adobe Camera Raw
Exposure has been edited to +4 EV

Question 1: Why is MLV not properly passing White Balance to ACR in the DNG format.
Question 2: Why is there some significant White Balance tweaking required in 10 bit.

NOTE: I cannot find any significant difference in resolution between 10-12-14 bit.  After pixel peeping I see a tiny amount if difference between 10 and 14 bit.. only on low exposure areas.

This page is looking very nice!  Good work!  ;D

@Alex:  This is the best module and have been using for my bird videos.
The build you provided : magiclantern-crop3x.2016Apr01.5D3123.zip  is very good and stable.  I have been using exclusively without any problems.
Best regards and much appreciation for your work.

Would love to test 5D3 123..  but it is missing..
Thanks for your support!

@dfort

Negative.. Modules loaded but I have problems accessing ML menu after I flipped the video switch.  Also on the first video switch it took a little long for the video to show up..
Had to reboot no Crash log.

I will be back to check in a week... going on a birding trip..  :D :D  Was hoping to test new crop_rec with 10/12 bit  :(
#85
No success!
The modules load but mlv_rec or raw_rec recording do not work and put the camera in some error.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer
December 26, 2016, 11:44:45 PM
Aditional sound testing 10*12bit

Standard video 1920x1080 is processed correctly and MLVProducer renders video with audio in sync.
When cropped video 2144x1206 with sound (three files 4GB each aprox)  is tested.  MLVProducer renders video but the sound is not synchronized..  Looks like audio contained in the last mlv file is put first in the video.

@dfort
Also forgot to mention that at the start/stop of recording 5D3-123 with mlv_rec moldule I get this message:
Hack error at 0:
excpectede3a00032, got e1a00000
#90
FYI,
crop.rec module does not load on 5D3.123  It gives module error.
#91
Guys!  I did not use crop.rec!!!
@dfort

I used the standard crop mode using the magnify button..  So it works on crop mode.
crop.rec is and advanced version of crop mode that centers the images and has other nice features.
It is very good but is not incorporated into unified.. it is a separate branch.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer

@AWPStar
Merry Christmas!!!
Testing 10 bit on 5D3 and MLVProducer during Christmas:
When I render the 10 bit files MLVProducer quits at 99% and have to shut down the program.
The programs works fine when the output folder is the .....\output

Windows 7 64 bit
MLVProducer 10/12 bit

Previous version did not have this bug (mlvp.alpha.build2258.INTEL)

Update:  The bug is present when I use DNxHD 1080 codec
When this happens the file is partially stored in x_tmp.mov format, then when I want to render again the program gets stuck at 0% and hangs up..
This is a repeatable bug.

Problem with is that the program hangs up and has to be shut down.. all settings are lost  :(
In older versions the minimum default of 24 was used for rendering.
Thanks

2. I use "DNxHD 1080"

@g3gg0
Thanks for the raw_twk module.  It works well on 10/12/14 bit files with the current build for 5D3-123 provided by dfort.
I love the ability to zoom while playing the video.
Great work!

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer

@AWPStar
Thanks for your support to ML and for this 10/12bit quick support.  Your app has come a long way and I use it to quickly render mov for non critical applications in batch mode.  I have learned to use presets and to re-use them making the process very fast for a quick edit.  My regular process is to use ACR to edit the dng and then to import them into a video editor; this method gives me the best results but it is time consuming.

I tested the new 10/12 bit process to render in "DNxHD 1080" and found a couple of additional issues in :
Running on windows 7 64 bit.

1. Render task is not available in File Menu... Only Reder Queue.  Render Task button on Output works as always.
2. I cannot render below 24 fps.  All renders below 24 fps quit and the program hangs up.
3. MLVProducer 2258 had "Temporal Noise Reduction" and Rduce color Noise" which are no longer available in version 2699
4. Remove Hot Pixels works only once on current task. When I load a new video the Hot Pixels Fix does not work.  To restore this feature I have to extract the program from the original zip file.
5. File Close All do not close the current video.

I have not tested other options.

Congratulations this is now the only app that fully supports 10/12 bit raw video.

Ohh my!  This is great.. A1lex said the processing time for a dng was 23 ms..  So at 30 fps each dng would require 33ms..  This means the hardware may be able to compress the dng during video!  :o

@ A1lex and Greg
Fantastic module!  I use it 99% of the time..  and thanks for providing it for 5D3-1.23 firmware.
Thanks for dedication and hard work.

You guys are amazing with the improvements upon the great foundations of Magic Lantern.
Thanks to all and congratulations on this new breakthrough!

I use the 1.23 firmware so finally I had a little time to test it with magiclantern-raw_video_10bit_12bit.2016Dec20.5D3123.zip (great work dfort)
WOW! WOW! WOW!
I tested the mlv_rec and raw_rec with the raw_twk.  Great accomplishments here dfort, g3gg0, and all contributors!

Video quality:  I cannot see any difference at iso 6400 or at iso 100.  All of them look superb on 10/12/14 bits.
Video size: Amazing 40% lighter dng frames going from 14 bits to 10 bits.  Pixel peeping the dngs at 300% show no difference between 10/12/14 bit!
Color and Exposure are identical.  Bumping exposure by 3ev on Photoshop does not bring up any differences on shadows.

Standard Max Recording Resolutions 5D3 with 64 GB Lexar 1066:
Origninal mlv_rec + spanning + Auto preview + sound at 1920x1080 30fps same with crop module: 17 sec max recording
Original mlv_rec + Auto preview + sound at 1920x1080 30fps with crop module: 17 sec max recording
Original raw_rec + Auto preview at 1920x1080 30fps same with crop module: 23 sec max recording

10/12/14 BIT TESTING
With magiclantern-raw_video_10bit_12bit.2016Dec20.5D3123
Note: I cannot find the card spaning on new mlv_rec

14 bit
mlv_rec + canon preview + sound at 1920x1080 30fps same with crop module: 16 seconds recording time
raw_rec + canon preview 23 sec at 1920x1080 30fps: 23 seconds recording time
raw_rec + canon preview 32 sec at 1920x1080 30fps at 5x croped: 35 seconds recording time!! dont know why the croped records faster.

12 bit
mlv_rec + Auto preview + sound at 1920x1080 30fps: continuous recording
mlv_rec + Auto preview + sound at 1920x1080 30fps at 5X cropped: continuous recording
Max continuous recording mlv_rec + Auto preview + sound at 1952x1098 or smaller at 30fps

raw_rec + canon preview 23 sec at 1920x1080 30fps: continuous recording
raw_rec + canon preview 32 sec at 1920x1080 30fps at 5x croped: continuous recording
Max continuous recording raw_rec Continuous recording with 2000x1126 30fps or smaller resolutions.

note: mlv_play crashes (play quits and camera has some error since the red led keeps blinking) on crop video larger than 1968x1108

10bit
Max continuous recording mlv_rec + Auto preview + sound at 2144x1206 or smaller resolutions at 30fps.
Max continuous recording raw_rec Continuous recording with 2208x1242 or smaller resolutions at 30fps.

Although I do not contribute to the forum due to time constrains I do come here all the time and look for all the updates on 5D3 1.23.  I use my 5D3 often and take lots of bird photos and RAW video.
I truly enjoy all of the amazing things you guys accomplish.  It is stunning!
THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!
Merry Christmas and happy new year to all!

Share Your Videos / Lunar Eclipse September 27 2015
October 09, 2015, 11:21:21 PM
Took some videos in raw during the lunar eclipse.  Mostly with fps between 1 and 15 fps to adjust for light conditions, iso between 100 and 6400.  Original video with cropped 3X zoom at 2880 x 1320 pixels.  Used raw histogram to monitor over exposure.  Also used dual iso in some videos but proffered to use raw video due to higher resolution.

Equipment used:
Canon 5D M3
Canon 100-400 II
Canon 1.4x Extender
Some takes with additional kenko 2x extender.

Tripod:
Old equatorial mount powered with a tiny 9v battery (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/546195-REG/Celestron_93514_Astromaster_Motor_Drive.html).  I was amazed that this motor could carry my camera and lens following the moon.
