yeah, thats a good example for both, hot and dead pixels. interesting as well are Eos M, 650D because of their On-Sensor-AF-Area.

someone maybe can deliver files that need chroma-smoothing? AF-On-Sensor? Dead/Hotpixel?

regards chmee

Do you mean something like this? This Raw-file has some weird pixels, but i'm not shure if those are hotpixels

I can't open it either in Photoshop nor Lightroom....

Irfanview and rawtherapee show a normal preview (i guess its the embedded jpeg) but RT can't develop it either:
Canon DPP can't open it as well but Infos saying it's an "SRAW" which would be an explanation for the low filesize of 8 MB.

As i'm not familiar with SRAW i can't help you any further.

@chris_1975:

It looks like you have chosen an extreme exposure situation, so cr2hdr-algorithm picks a wrong rendering-choice.

I tried with some cr2hdr-betas and it worked out fine:

Well it took me forever to realise that i had to put "image review" to "HOLD"  :-\

But finally:

SNR for 550D ISO 100 Photomode:

SNR ISO 100 Moviemode

SNR ISO 1600 Photomode

I hope those above make sense

I think there is no way doing that, since Resolve can't read the adjustments you made to the DNGs in ACR.

Either export the DNGs as tiff/jpeg or use the workflow described in the link below:
http://www.mixinglight.com/0010-R9-LightroomandResolve-DM.html

But remember you can't do better in ACR than you could in Resolve, as you are limited to the Resolve color adjustments possibilities.
F.e. adjusting shadows/ highlights in ACR is doing some kind of tonemapping and adding micro-contrasts to the image that can't be transferred with a LUT.

Amazing footage....is this really the same Camera as i have????
Too bad the recording time with raw is that short.

You proof again that if you know how to handle your crafts, no need for a fancy camera!

Feature Requests / Re: Re: Intervalometer
July 08, 2014, 02:00:00 PM
If i understand you right Garry, you're trying to adapt the ML intervalometer to the "holygrail" workflow of LRTimelapse, right?
http://lrtimelapse.com/tutorial/

Simplified saying for this workflow the exposure is adjusted (manually or per tablet app) when the scene gets too dark/bright.
But between those adjustment steps ISO/Shutter stay fixed.
F.e. doing a Sunset-timelapse: Shuttertime or ISO are bumped up everytime the exposure is getting significally too dark.

Those "few" exposure steps are balanced in post by the LRTimelapse. Sudden luminance changes are handled by a deflicker module of LRT.

So these regular adjustment (every nth-frame) steps could be done by AETTR.

If memory serves me right, some kind of "LRTimelapse holygrail" function was implemented in a nightly 2.2 build??? But I never used it tho :P

Hi,
In a nightly build I've seen a "LTR holy grail" option in the timelapse submenu.
Does that mean that the new algorithm is now integrated in ML and that we therefore do not need this workflow anymore ?

Thanks

I hope this helps and i didn't confuse everybody.

It's great that Resolve 11 is supporting  AMD GPUs now.
It's even running on my low budget machine (i3/ Radeon HD 5450 with 512 MB RAM).
Not fast... but it's running :D

Neutral density filters are in use to run fast lenses in bright sunlight without stopping down. They come in fixed variety and as variable ones (aka Vari-ND).

I can second that. Using a variable ND-Filter really improved my footage when filming in bright outdoor situations.
Two links on Vari-ND-Filters that helped me:

Tutorials and Creative Uses / Use of FPS ramping
May 25, 2014, 05:40:34 PM
I'm pretty shure most users wondered what "FPS ramping" was all about, if they ever found it in the depths of the advanced settings of FPS override.

So here is a short example:

More on FPS-ramping can be found in this Thread:

Anyone will miss this feature if I'll remove it?

Yes i will miss it!
I will use it when carnival comes to town this summer. ;)

I SHOULD have posted my results from last years carnival looong ago.
But nevermind.... i will keep an old build with FPS ramping.... I don't wanna block the enhancemenets of Magic Lantern.

EDIT: An example of using FPS-ramping: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=12026.0

Hi Chmee,

is it intentional that that the headline of the app shows "rawcdng 1.5" instead of "raw2cdng 1.5"?
#44
Hey Chmee,

i was able to repoduce the behavior of 1.5.0beta5 vs. 1.3.3 with a RAW file of Luke Neumanns sheeps :D
http://neumannfilms.net/2013/05/15/magic-lantern-raw-video-workflow-tutorial-downloadable-files/

Nevertheless I'll try my best to upload my 550D samples the next 2-3 days.

Below a screenshot of the crash showing the progressbar while dropping in the file.

Yep right while dropping into raw2cdng window.

I'll try to dig out that old built and give You a short sample.

Just a small bug report:

raw2cdng.1.5.0.beta5.exe crashes while drag&drop a "early build" RAW-File (i guess very first build for 550D from May 2013) while v1.3.3.1 is doing fine.
I'm on Vista 64.

Hi,

i run a PrE/PsE 10 bundle on a Win7 system, so i might help answering your question.

First of all: Yes PrE can do very basic DNG editing.....BUT
- Elements doesn't support all ACR function (f. i. no curves) nor can it really handle presets.
- I've read somewehere that the DNG-imagesequenze in PrE uses just the 8-bit embedded jpeg.
- When opening a DNG via ACR in PrE it just edits ONE DNG!
- PrE itsself doesn't have a usefull color-Editing like levels, graduationcurve, histogramm or waveform.

I don't know FCPX (as i'm a windows guy) but i guess it's waaaay better than PrE!

I recommend using a Lightroom/ NLE workflow like described in this posts:

http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7212

or here:
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6864.msg56645#msg56645

And Lightroom is just a few bucks more expensive than Premiere Elements.
#49
Yes you're right... picturestyle doesn't affect RAW-Video.

Yep... For the 550D the nightlies are up to date!

Even MLV-Raw is now included.
If you are looking for special features like the bolt-trigger or Tragic-lantern-stuff i guess you have to search for other sources.
