In-Camera playback is slow and you cannot get out of it in the middle of playback. Also, I am not 100% sure whether you can play them back when hdmi monitor is attached.

you CAN stop raw playback. Simply, push the shutter button half way down.

The reason he told you to read it, was because ML can't be installed on cards bigger than 32gigs I believe.

I figured out the issue. In After Effects, I had my color space set to ProPhotoRGB Linearized. When I changed that to Rec709 and unchecked the Linearize box, the colors turned out normally.

Tihon and others, I'm curious to know... which color space to you work with in AE?

So, all of this raw shooting has me running out of disk space.
I had a file on a CF card.
I loaded up raw2dng for the mac(created by scrax)
I dragged the app icon onto the opened app to get to the settings
I selected an out put folder which was on my CF card, in the folder that the RAW file was placed in.
Before the process started, my computers hard drive had 9GB available(my computer NOT the CF card)
when Raw2DNG was finished, the files weren't on my CF card, but my computers hard drive was now only 4GB remaining.
Where can I find these lost files?
I've tried to view package contents of the raw2dng app and they aren't in there.
This may have happened because my Cf card is called 'CF Card' and I heard that there's a problem converting into folders with spaces in their names.
But where on my computer can these files be?

I am using a 16gb sandisk cf 600x
and a 64gb komputerbay 1000x cf
What is the best cluster size, and how do I formate these cards exfat with the right cluster size?
Im on a mac, and as of now I've just formatted exfat with 'disk utility'

I could of sworn I recalled Alex saying that no program could extract the raw dngs as 14 bit. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Also, if you don't mind, please add which produces regulard DNGs and cinema DNGs

Raw2dng produces 14bit DNG's

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought raw2dng produced 12 bit files.

I don't know if I want it REmoved. But I would certainly like it to be moved. It does get very annoying. But sometimes I like to see how many frames I have, as well as how long I'm going to be able to record(by looking at the buffer). I just wish it was out of the way.

I know that none of the programs to extract the DNG's from the raw files are able to produce 14 bit.
With that said, I'd like to get a list of programs and their corresponding outputs(12 bits, 16 bits)
also, please post if they have any negatives(pink frames, black vertical lines...)
Also, please post if they output the regular DNGs, or cinema DNGs
Im curious to know which would be the best program for me to use to extract these dngs

I am on a mac, but wouldn't mind if you list the PC programs as well so that others can make use of the list.

how do you make a shortcut for pulling up ACR in after effects?
Im lazy, and right clicking the actual footage clicking interpret footage then clicking more options seems to be a bit much. especially when I have to continue tweaking something in acr ever so slightly. Im on a mac if that makes a difference

I could be wrong, but I recall reading something about ml not being able to install on cards bigger than 32gigs. do you have a sd slot on there in addition to the cf slot?

How do you get 3x zoom... when I push the zoom button I get 5x or 10x. o_0

5x is the one you want. it's really a 3x zoom in ml

Not sure why, but I just tried it on my home iMac and it worked. I guess that third time's the charm!

What did you try?

On the computer that it did not work on, are you running mountain lion? If so, you have to install some script in order for macboot to work. Took me a while to figure this out.

For 5D3, you can't remove the bootflag safely yet.

I thought that simply pulling out the memory card would completely rid the camera of anything to do with ML???

tihon, thanks so much for sharing your ACR preset and Hook's LUT (converted for LUT Buddy).

But when I try to use that combination in AE, I get a very strange outcome (dark with strange colors). Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks again,

After applying his ACR preset, try changing your white balance(in ACR)

What kind of workflow are you using in post?
I'm on a iMac and use Rawmagic and after effects. But i'm curious about what else is out there.
Ive been trying to work with DaVinci Resolve but it just isn't what I'm looking for (as far as my knowledge of the software goes)...
When working with DaVinci I immediately start to miss all the options Camera Raw...

Is someone familiar with with both software who can convince me other wise? Because I read a lot of good things about DaVinci Resolve so I'm a bit confused right now...

And what workflow do you guys use?

Iwhat imac do you have? I have what I believe to be a mid 2011 21.5" iMac and resolve says my video card is not compatible. When bringing in footage all I see is colored static

The card(depending on speed) will allow you to continuously record depending on resolution. BUT there IS a speed drop. If you are recording at a resoliution that allows you to only get 800 frames, you might only get 4-500 with a monitor.

This doesn't work for me. When the app is on an external I don't get the options. When the app is on my desktop, I get the options but when I select the external as my output drive, it still puts the files on my desktop where the app is. So I can only have one or the either. Files get placed on my external, but I can't stop the pro res, or I can stop the pro res, but files must be on the desktop.

Sorry for my misunderstanding, but I don't get this answer. After running raw2dng, I then drag the icon back on top of it as you say, and it just says it can't open it. Very cool that it makes prores 4444 right out of box, but at times, as others have said, just want the raw images. What might I be doing wrong?

Do you have the program on an external hard drive?
If so(even if not so), try placing the program or your desktop. Re download it. Do NOT use one that was already unzipped. Unzip it on your desktop, open the app, then drag the apps icon onto the opened app.
I've had issues with it not being able to give me the options when running from an external hard drive. I got no message, but the options don't pop up at all.

Well, why don't you start with YOUR settings, in both your NLE and camera so that we can help you get your speed issue figured out.

I've got a 5D3 build here.

Everything goes into the 'modules' folder, except for the autoexecbin which goes to the root folder of the card, right?

Also, when this newest build is on my card, there is a possibility to shoot normal video(without the double iso thing), right?

Any chance you could explain more explicitly what you mean by "old ML setting" & "I put it away"? I know that my misunderstanding may be due to a slight language barrier, but I have experienced a similar problem (footage looks like it has a weird cadence), and am keen to avoid it in future.

I'm now testing the July 13th build (as far as I know it's a clean install), and will check for any residual occurrence of the original issue, and report back.

When you chane the settings in magic lantern, it leaves a file on your card. That way, every time your camera boots, it loads the settings from the card. Chances are, he deleted that file that stores the settings, off of his card.

@Ethan I hadn't used Resolve till a few weeks ago and I'm far from an expert, but Color Grading Central and AETUTS have some excellent Resolve tutorials. I'd love to see ACR enabled in Premiere and find it strange that the company who created DNG don't fully support it. Until then it's horses for courses and I would advise anyone to familiarize themselves with all of the workflow options.

@Vikado It's a mixture of round tripping and dynamic link. Export your XML to Resolve and if you have any problems you need ACR for, you can go back to PP and dynamic link to AE, do your stuff then render that out and import the results to Resolve.

My VAF arrived last week and I love it. Will up some comparisons tomorrow.

What do you mean, I load my DNG's into After effects just fine(not cinema DNG's) and am able to pull up ACR any time I want to as well.
