Cool videos! I also really like the ML logo  :)

If you're not going to use the same card on different cameras (which I'm assuming you're not), you should be able to delete them without any problems  :)

Great shots! Quite a unique perspective  :D Love the grading too.

The problem is mainly coming from the DSLR form factor rather than your shaky hands.  ;)

I find IS essential when shooting handheld. I had originally purchased the 24-70L for my 5D2, but had to replace it with a 24-105L due to the lack of IS. The Canon 17-55 is an excellent zoom for crop-sensor bodies since it has both an f/2.8 aperture and IS.
#455
Do you have the Dec22 (or later) build?
#456
I find the 24-105L pretty good as a run'n'gun lens for weddings & events. The only limitation is the max. aperture of f/4, which might be kinda slow in certain situations, but I usually manage to get a good exposure at ISO 1600. Previously I had the 24-70L but decided to replace it with the 24-105L due to the lack of stabilization.

The Tamron 24-70 seems to be quite good (2.8 and IS), though I haven't tried it.

The user guide or the in-camera help (through the Info button) should be suitable to learn what the features do in detail.

Glad you solved your issue!

Since you mentioned that you're using the Dec 11 version, I suggest you upgrade to the May 15 build (upgrading is simple: just download the autoexec.bin file and replace the existing one on the sd card). It contains some fixes. See link below for more info & for downloading:

Are you using it wide open (at f/1.4)? Reducing the aperture should make your picture sharper (try around f/2.8).

Can you post some examples of shots which you think aren't sharp?
#460
Sharpness is usually attributed to the lens, not the body. What lens are you using?

Also, if you really want more sharpness, you can increase it by editing the picture style within the camera, but I wouldn't recommend it (actually I turn it all the way down). I'd rather increase sharpness in post if I need to.

I bet every BG works the same ;)

Unfortunately it won't work with newer grips since now the compartment opens from the side, and you need to eject the tray containing both batteries to replace any one of them (see picture below).

I'm impressed. Really like your style!
#463
What kind of grip do you have? When I open mine, both batteries come out, so it definitely wouldn't be possible.

Very professional piece of work. Well done!

General Help Q&A / Re: A couple Questions?!

You just need to remember to keep the ML files on cards that have the boot flag enabled, i.e. those on which you install ML. Since you reformatted the card without ML, the boot flag has been disabled and as such you can use this card to run the camera without ML (standard mode).

To get ML back on your card, follow the normal installation procedure (copy ML files to card, run firmware update, wait for green text confirmation, reboot).

Let me know if there's anything I misunderstood or if you require further help  :)

If you're shooting videos, setting the 60D's mode dial to movie mode (last item on the dial) will turn the camera on in live view.

Thanks  :)

@3pointedit: For portability, all my shots are from a monopod as it allows me to get in some tight / uncomfortable places very easily to get the shots I have in mind. The tripod is used by my assistant / 2nd shooter.

I have 2 display presets set up. The first one is the one I use most, including during recordings, and consists of a cinescope cropmark and histogram. The second one consists of histogram and luma zebra, which I use to set up a shot (when not in a hurry).

The effect in the final part is some free vfx footage found on vimeo overlayed on the other footage at around 60% opacity.

Thanks Bart! Based on your recommendation, I shot this using flaat 10p and I really like the outcome. It's the perfect balance between neutral and cinestyle!

The Zoom's built-in mic might not be ideal for interviews and similar scenarios since it captures all the ambient noise around you (it's ideal for run & gun situations though). For such scenarios, your best bet would be to have your recorder as close as possible to the source (such as the person being interviewed) so that you reduce noise and ambient sounds as much as possible, use the in-camera mic as reference audio and sync both tracks in post (either manually or with Pluraleyes).

For run & gun scenarios (mainly wedding reception & events) I found the Rode VideoMicPro to be an excellent addition to my kit. I also use a Sennheiser G3 plugged into a Zoom H4N when recording interviews, wedding vows or speeches since it's the nearest way to the subject while remaining portable.

In the youtube description he mentions that he's using a grad nd filter :)

Not all lenses report focus distance, so it might be possible that the particular lens you're using doesn't. Maybe someone else who uses this lens can check and let us know  :)
