Reverse Engineering / HDMI reverse engineering
December 19, 2017, 12:30:21 AM
Topic split from TFT SIO communication (tft_regs.mo).

I run "Brute-force all registres" on 5D3 v123 with HDMI monitor. No registrer change view on monitor (as could be expected).

Is it possible prepare some brute-force test for registeres that could be change view on HDMI monitor?

I am looking for some alternative for magic-zoom on HDMI monitor
(e. g. "Scroll" HDMI output: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=18488.0).

Feature Requests / ND filter instead reflex mirror
April 30, 2017, 02:25:22 PM
Camera EOS C300 has three internal ND filters:

ND 0.6 – 2-stop reduction
ND 1.2 – 4-stop reduction
ND 1.8 – 6-stop reduction

This is better than screw and unscrew ND Variable filter on lens after each change of luminance (filming in the dark church/sunny garden before church).

I use my 5D Mark III mainly on video. Why not use dark ND filter instead reflex mirror?  8)

Would be possible control reflex mirror in video mode? (flip-up/flip-down)

If yes - some company could be create ND filter (like "Mosaic Opto-Electronics, Inc." creates VAF filters)  :)

Reflex mirror replacement should be relatively easy:

Space is very limited when I record to RAW video.
Zip archivator runable after record (from menu) will be great :)

Feature Requests / "Scroll" HDMI output
December 29, 2016, 12:42:07 AM
Many HDMI monitors have 1:1 view (pixel per pixel) but most of them can display only center of view. Scroll display is not possible.

Is it possible add feature "Shift HDMI output" to "Arrow/SET shortcuts" for display optional part of view in center of HDMI output?

Is it possible change position of crop mode for every second frame (as HDR video)?

In post processing:
left and righ frames could be converted to one panorama.

Feature Requests / Waveform in wide mode
February 27, 2016, 04:54:12 PM
Can you add wide waveform view like Cineroid EVF has?
(http://www.cineroid.com/web/images/eng_pro_evf4rvw08h.jpg : style 1)

It will be much more usable for me.

( Note: FullScreen waveform is cropped on 5d mark II; Nightly.2015Nov07.5D2212 )

Feature Requests / AWB without shift
February 27, 2016, 04:27:55 PM
When I shoot a documentary video I sometimes mistakenly turn on "Adjusting white balance...".
This set wrong "White balance" and "WB Shift". When I switch to AWB by Canon menu (for fast fix) the "WB shift" is still wrong.

Is it possible:

1. turn on "Adjusting white balance..." by longer way for prevention
(e. g. by holding RATE button - similary as open ML menu by holding arrow button; or by double-click),

2. reset "WB shift" after set AWB?

Feature Requests / Rack Focus cycle
July 19, 2014, 05:20:15 PM
Please, can you add the choice of never-ending cycle to Rack Focus? I need it to make timelapse with large aperture.

There is some example:
http://youtu.be/YUFHRkHxJdQ
(1/13 F13.4 ISO3200 f300; MLV video)

The building is not in focus. ISO is in limits of usability. I had to make a compromise. If I set longer exposure, Moon woud be blur...

Rack Focus cycle is solution for me: focus to building / focus to Moon / focus to building / ...
(+ join couple of images in postproduction)

Feature Requests / Turn off LCD and LV after 0sec
August 18, 2013, 12:49:27 AM
I have 5D2 with CF Transcend UDMA7 600x 32GB. When I shoot RAW video in 1856x1044 24fps with configuration "Global Draw off" and "Turn off  LCD and LV" after 5sec ("Enable power savin: on Recording") I have about 800-1200 images. I think if the configure "Turn off  LCD and LV" could be set to "after 0sec" (unsupported value) the number of images will be higher. Yes - I can not see LCD display when I shooting but number of shots is more importantly for me...
