Also: wrong section

Adding a bit of FAQ to FPS since it's a hot topic

When looking at FPS in video mode we have several limits:
- Canon's firmware. This includes the encoder used to compress video. Each firmware has multiple encoders, one for each combination of supported resolution AND FPS

- Video buffer, this is linked to the previous point. The camera can process only much information before running out of it. You'll notice that when using ML bitrate control, for example.

- Processor and sensor readout speed (the latter limits live view to about 39FPS)

- SD write speed, the least important of the group if you ask me.

It's an anti-spam measure. Sorry about that. Only users with more than 3/5 posts may create new topics

Turns out it was a bug. It's now fixed. Thanks for reporting it  :)

2. Avoid posting photos in full-resolution. The maximum allowed image width is 900 pixels. Quick suggestion: combine url and img tags to allow users to click on the thumbnail and view the full-res photo if they desire to.

3. You must have copyright on the content that you post.

Just place something in the hotshoe and the camera will do that by itself, no need for ML to re-invent the wheel

Make sure that C.Fn III-06: Activation of the Autofocus Assist Lamp is set to 0 (Emits)
#2309
You're asking for a "smoother" rack focus. Is that right?

Sorry i meant canon 1100d :-[

Eheh

We already had a discussion wit a1ex a while ago on that subject. Looks like the 1100D has a built-in 1080p encoder but it didn't accept any higher resolutions in movie mode.

P([WONTFIX]) = 0.99.

Also would it be at all possible to make a 60fps override setting in full 1920 x 1080 HD for the next version of ML?

That's a [WONTFIX] probably, since the original Canon Firmware does not have 60fps FHD and the camera sensor/buffers don't have that capability too

As far as SLO-MO is concerned, you can only can only achieve that in 720p if you aim for 25/30 FPS at 1/2 speed

I'm leaving this topic open but marked as WONTFIX until an official reply from A1ex

@a1ex, yeah red eye reduction also (who use it?).

My dad  ;D

The "magiclantern.fm" edition sure has less eyestrain if used at nighttime, and that's I thing that I'd like to see

Its the IR af assist... I've had it come on by itself before not sure if it was on 400D or 600D.

The IR AF assist light *should* come on by itself. I think it does when the camera can't focus properly and the hotshoe is in use (i.e. the internal flash can't pop-up). It probably gives higher priority to the internal flash, which makes sense 90% of the time

In the makefile, check if OS is darwin or not and set the executable name accordingly

It's kinda hard do define a timer a competing product, unless it has features such as FPS control, silent pics and focus racking  :P

There is a competing ML? Do tell....

Indeed, please tell  :o

Well, well, well. A prebuilt stock GCC toolchain mantained by ARM. We should definitely move to this

Thanks  :)
#2321
Since we are talking about menus anyway
- I'd move Audio next to Movie and make it Green too. (Green: functions working in one mode only)
#2322
Just forget what I've said, really. The previous version is fine
#2323
We should keep the highlighted top menu entry white. Other than that, good job.

Nope, it looks terrible
#2324
I know it may sound wierd, but can't we keep the stock Canon "inverted look"? I think it's better if we are aiming for "integration"

Great, so there is now an easy way of building ML!

At least as long as Codesurcery keeps offering the ARM GCC compiler for free  ;)
