Absolutely, the wind was extremely strong and some shots are shaking even after Resolve stabilization.

Another 5d Mark III video, everything shot handheld, almost entirely with an Helios 44M from 1978. Some shots with Tokina RMC II 28mm f/2.8. Shot in Full HD and upscaled to UHD.

I don't know, I only own a 5d mark III. I can only tell you that the 5d3 has 5.5k and 5.7k anamorphic modes and 3.5k 1:1 mode with a quite fast (but low resolution) preview. It also has a very good Full HD image with a real time framed preview.

Everything shot handheld in Full HD and later upscaled to UHD using Topaz

Very beautiful images! Great work!

Great! It works well! But I've noticed how without the SD Overclock enabled it only updates the CF card. It is supposed to work like that? Or maybe tge amount of data written on the SD Card without the overclock is not that much, I need to test further..

You could make the camera take a picture after every recording, it would be useful also to identify the content of mlv files, just like a thumbnail

With 14bits lossless selected in RAW:
When bit depth turned off=14bits lossless
When bit depth set to 12bits=12bits lossless
When bit depth set to 10bits=10bits lossless
etc.

Yes, too much menus with almost the same options doesn't help...

I didn't know that, thanks!

As explained before: let the default 14bits lossless setting as it is and just switch the bit depth to 10/12bits in the Movie menu.

In what would it result? Will it record in 14bits lossless in the end? I usually turn off bit depth in the movie menu and select 14 bits lossless in the raw video sub menu.

Is it a normal behaviour when selecting 10 or 12 bit (non lossless) the preview become frozen? Regardless of the preview option chosen in the menu..

Once again, I've experienced how after running the benchmarks my cards perform much better. This is something that should be investigated, it doesn't seem a casual occurrence. Before running the benchmarks I could record only one or two seconds at 10bit or 12bit (not lossless), after running the benchmarks my 5d3 seemed capable of continuous shooting at the same bit depths. However, before I could have a (choppy) preview, after I couldn't, no matter if I selected "framing" or "live view" or any other option available for the preview, it remained always frozen.

specifically when targeting RAW 12bits instead of 14bits (which is enough even with extreme color grading post-process, honestly).

When you say 12bits and 14bits, you mean 14bit and 12bit lossless? On my 5d3, with all the hacks active, sd overclock, audio off, etc I can't record more than few seconds if I use a non lossless bit depth. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm also trying to stabilize my 5d3 footage using gyroflow and my smartphone or some action cam as gyro logger but I really can't manage to syncronize gyro data and magic lantern footage. How did you do that? What's your workflow? Do you use the same framerate for the action cam and the 5d3?

Raw Video / Re: HDMI monitoring on 5D3 in crop mode

That's it, and for your first question: yes and no -> yes it's compatible, but certainly not what you're (and I'm) expecting... what you will get no matter the preset/resolution you choose will be the equivalent of the "realtime" display in the HDMI output, meaning you cannot get a properly "framed" preview when exceeding 1080p native resolution.

This is why I'm wondering if we may be able to "redirect" the current "framed preview" image stream to the HDMI output.

That's a shame.. Really the only thing missing in the 5d3 to be an incredible cinema camera is a good preview, maybe throught an HDMI display. I would like to help you but I'm no programmer nor an engineer, I'm just an humble videomaker! Maybe you could try to ask Bilal, have you tried writing him a message?

Hi! Noob question here: Is it possible to use the 5.7k 1:3 "anamorphic" mode with an external monitor? Do I need necessarily the 1.2.3 version installed?

There's written that the main advantage of the 1.2.3 version over the 1.1.3 is the "clean HDMI output", what does it mean? What's a "clean" HDMI output?

Anyway, yes, it works very well and the preview is much more fluid and responsive than before! Thanks for this great hack! :)

I'm waiting for some users' feedback on the 5D3 to ensure it works as expected, then I'll open a merge request on both magiclantern_simplified and magic-lantern_dannephoto_git repositories.
Don't know if the 5D2 is currently covered by the simplified repo.?

I tried it yesterday and it works as expected but only when I set things so I can have continuous shooting. Then it's all perfect. If I exagerate in resolution or bit depth and the camera stops recording after few frames I don't have a fast preview there, but I guess this is the normal functioning..
#20
Did you install it on top of another ML installation (overwriting the files) or did you format your sd card before?
#21
Hi Sintes! Thanks for your great work! I've installed your latest build on my 5d3 but it seems some parts of the menu are missing, specifically all the presets are empty, so I can't select one. Am I doing something wrong?

Just a couple shots with my 5d3, the first one is 5.7k, the second is 3.5k. Together with magic lantern 5d3 is really an incredible camera..

Just donated even if I'm not an Eos M user anymore, I sincerely admire your work, Bilal! and I also hope you'll futher develop ML for 5d3 :)

5d3 it's for sure heavier compared to the M but still way lighter than a Red or an Alexa. And it's a full frame! That's for sure the main advantage over the M, other than being much more responsive, in my opinion.

To have some frtp modes on the 5d3 would make this camera a serious competitor of way more expensive cinema cameras.

That's a really amazing improvement, Bilal! You've got some real skills, seriously! But... what about us alone and forgotten and sad and abandoned 5d3 users? Is there any hope for us?
