@Infinitebuzz, Mediareactor v5 works great with MLV files natively in Premiere and After effects. It plays back pretty much real time, which is great. This is exactly what I've been looking for!

Has there been any progress with creating an ACR-like module that can edit the raw metadata, similar to how it works with Red footage? See the video at 00:40 for what I mean. https://vimeo.com/52037147. There was discussion about this functionality from 2013 but I haven't seen anything about it since.

Oh, Nightly Builds are running in again!
If you look into release history you will see there was a break for about 3 months for all camera versions.
ML for 5D3 1.2.3 is something *not* following the "standard" pace.

I knew about the development hiatus, but I guess you're right that it's not following the "standard" schedule. I looked a few pages back and saw the post from a1ex about him wanting to focus more on the stills functions rather than video. Hopefully someone else will take over the development.

Hey guys, Sorry if I'm missing something but when I go to the ML nightly download page http://builds.magiclantern.fm/#/ and select 5D3.123, the latest build was on 2014-08-06. When I select 5D3.113, the latest build was on 2015-01-02. Is there a reason the ML build for firmware 113 is being developed more often than the 123 firmware? I thought all development has been migrated over to the the 1.2.3 firmware. Thanks for your help!

Give this link a try...

And of course, at your own risk yadda yadda

I'll check this as soon as I can. Thanks for the hard work! From your tweaking, is there any way to select where the Magic Lantern overlays are displayed? For Example:

ML Overlays on: Camera
                          Monitor
                          Both

This would be amazing!

@a1ex: Has the ML overlay support when mirroring on an external monitor been addressed in the nightly build yet? Last I heard was from a couple of weeks ago (Post 675 on page 27).

I am getting the same orange horizontal lines as the image shown here:

That's great! Having magic lantern overlays work on the built in screen while also using an external monitor is the one extra feature I want from ML. Would you share your version of the magic lantern files so I can try it out?

I would also love this feature to be implemented into the latest magic lantern build.

Marekk, is there any way to inject your code into the latest nightly build?

It took me a couple hours to figure this out too. I finally found this thread.

@a1ex and @nanomad: Is the 550D being phased out intentionally or is it because it just can't support all the new features?

Sorry, double post. How do you delete a post?

The lenses I used are:
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8

I have a 5D Mk II running v2.3.NEXT.2013Mar19

While running Dot Tune AFMA with 200mm or longer lenses I would sometimes get a bug: Each and every MA box would light up green during the test on all 4 passes. (even with -100..+100 selected). This would result in a new AFMA of "0" and an Error message "Double-check the focus target".  This would happen a few times in a row. Changing Focus Targets, distance, and lighting, had no effect. I would then exit the program, reboot the camera, and try various other things until it went away.  This only happened a few times and I am not even sure how I was able to correct it.

Any thoughts on what was going on?

I tested DOTtune yesterday and I had the same problem with all three of my zoom lenses. Every single box had a focus confirmation for all 4 passes, even with -100..+100. I kept getting an AFMA of 0. I tried multiple times with each lens, both on the wide and tele. I'm using the 5d3 with an unreleased ML version that has DOTtune.

Any ideas??

Here's a rundown of the procedure I used:
1. Put chart on a wall and positioned the camera at 50x the focal length (e.g., 24mm at 1200mm or 47.24in)
2. Manual focus and widest aperture on lens; single shot and single point AF on camera
3. Manual focus using LiveView with AFMA value "0"
4. Run DOTtune in ML
5. Every box gives focus confirmation, new AFMA of "0"
6. Repeated for -40 to +40 and -100 to +100, same results
7. Repeated for wide and tele on every lens, same results...

I wasn't sure if I report alpha3 bugs here or in the Bug Reports section, so let me know and I'll move it over there.

First, let me say that Alex and the whole ML team are geniuses. I've been playing with ML all day and here are my thoughts:

-- Positive: --
1. LOVE the new gradual exposure setting and the blue/red indicators are really useful to track the transition between exposures. I hope the developers find a way to make it work as smoothly on the other DSLRs (T2i please!)
2. The fine dots setting of focus peaking seems to work the best for me right now, but I can't really tell what the difference is with alpha blend. Extreme sharpness has a lot of potential if it was fine-tuned a bit more in future versions to make it a little more obvious
3. Fast focus box is very fast and responsive.
4. Love the anamorphic stretch settings. This is a feature I requested for my T2i that I hope makes it into release 2.4 (please)!
5. Can't wait for the full release to come out!

-- Bugs that I've encoutered: --
1. Redraw problems when any Canon native UI screen elements are called up (e.g., the * button). Native UI draws over the ML UI and it doesn't come back until a second later.
2. The battery indicator seems to be missing. Maybe it's not a bug, but just hasn't been implemented yet.
3. Focus confirmation in magic zoom isn't working for me. I use green bars, but none of the other settings seem to be working either.
4. When magic zoom is used on any of the anamorphic preview settings, it rescales it to be square pixel.
5. When anamorphic display is turned on, you lose focus peaking.
6. The Dim REC LED doesn't seem to do anything when turned on. It seems equally bright when it is on or off.
7. Focus Peaking > Local Focus seems to only work with Blinking dots. If it's only a feature that's only available for this setting, gray it out when something else is selected.
8. Focus Peaking > Fine details causes significant lag in Liveview. Strong edges and Balanced work pretty well.
9. Not a bug, more of a feature request. The vectorscope takes up too much of the screen as is. Please make a "small" option for the vectorscope like the waveform and put it in one of the top corners, or possibly make the background completely transparent or at least more transparent (maybe like 25%)

Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem. See the image on the top left. I'm having the same problem...

I did a little more digging and found these links:

https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!msg/ml-devel/z0iPQAHtTD0/VHyZ_4Vs1yMJ
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/view-video-display-hardware-software/484963-550d-t2i-lilliput-8-869gl-problem.html

So I guess this is an issue that's specific to the T2i? Can anyone confirm this?

This is something that has always bothered me. I'm sure other people with lower end external monitors have this problem too.

I have the T2i, which outputs a 3:2 aspect ratio (720x480 resolution) to an external monitor that is locked in at 5:3 (15:9)(800x480 resolution). So whenever I connect the monitor, the picture is stretched horizontally to make the 720px image fit the 800px display.

I noticed that there is a setting under the Display Tab called "Screen layout settings..." where I can change the scaling from 3:2, 16:9, and 16:10 (http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/userguide#screen_layout_settings). Is it possible to make a 5:3 (or 15:9) setting also so that things look "square" for external monitors?

As an added bonus, it would be great to be able to set custom horizontal and vertical scale levels, similar to how the DP4/6 and Zacuto EVF can do. This video shows what I am talking about: http://vimeo.com/27017541.

Thanks all to the ML Developers!
