Reverse Engineering / Re: UHS-I / SD cards investigation
December 02, 2018, 01:29:32 PM
Hello everyone

I read all the pages of the topic. I did some testing with the "hack sd overclock" a few weeks ago.

1. First : thanks you so much. Your work is amazing. :P

2. I try to sumarise this topic adapting it for my case. :o

3. My goal : in 2019 i will shoot a short film. at this moment i try to validate my workflow.

4. My config : canon eos 700d / T5i. canon 50mm STM. canon 10-18mm STM. With Magic Lantern Firmware  :) :) :P

5. I would shoot in : raw 14b lossless or 12b lossless or 10b lossless. 2.5k. 24fps.

6. Final delivery: at a minimum: 1080p 24fps.

7. Video Apps : MLV App  :P + Da Vinci Resolve.

8. I would like to extend by a few mega per second the writing capacity of my camera. ;)

9. I would like to use the experimental branch: "4K raw video recording; lossless compression / crop_rec module with higher resolutions"

This is my two question :

A. which version of "hack module" I should use and where I can download it. thanks for your recommendations.

B. what is the card (128gb, is the more adapted i presume for RAW) that is the more fiable and compatible with the hack ? thanks for your recommendations.

Thank you in advance
And really really: BRAVO for your work.
From France
Best regards

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer: [v3200]

Thanks you for your answer.

RAW and DNG are new for me and i have to learn more about it, technically. I will take time to understand more deep on the "non-destructive" concept of it. it's not clear in my mind ( raw, dng, LUT, colorspace translation for raw dng canon ml [ cinemaDNG, bmd film, BMD film to cinelog , cinelog to loc c, and final LUT export etc.... ]. I have a lot of noise on my black levels, i have to work on my exposure [ETTR etc... ]... In conclusion, i have a lot of work, test, etc... to understand and build a valid workflow to shoot with my eos 700d + davinci resolve.  ...and determine if it's a better way FOR ME compared to H264 way. (I have written a short film and i think shoot it next year.)

First step for me was to convert the RAW to DNG without "newbie" errors. ( and killing this pinks dots... ) - other softs don't worked well for me -

I am very happy to have found your software. I think I adopted it as the first phase of my workflow. I renew my thanks and congratulations for your high quality work and the time you took to answer my beginner's questions.

Best Regards
Vince

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer: [v3200]

Hi everyone,

Following my previous message, I have 2 newbies questions :
[ english is not my native langage, sorry for langage mistake ]
[ i read all the 43 pages before posting ]

A) I use Canon EOS 700D - ML 1.1.5 - MLV RAW - 1728 x 736 @23.976 10bits
B) My goal is to export my MLV to DNG the more "FLAT" possible. I use DAVINCI RESOLVE to edit the colorimetry. My hypothesis is that "more flat will be the video" "better for DaVinci Resolve it will be"
[ I hope, first, that this starting hypothesis is good ]

Question 1. When importing MLV files, MLVproducer automatically sets the exposure to +0.77 and Saturation to +100. I do not understand why ... Should I keep this parameter or should I change the settings to 0?  Is it an objective or an subjective choice/variable ? Do this parameter got an influence for DaVinciResolve ?

Question 2. When I import MLV files, MLVproducer automatically sets the "converting to color space" on AdobeRGB. I would like to know why. Is this a good choice for the canon eos 700d 10bit raw? Is it an objective or an subjective choice/variable ? Do this parameter got an influence for DaVinciResolve ?

Thank you in advance for your answers. Best regards from France.

Hi,

Oh my god ! Thank you.

Eos 700d - firmware 1.1.5 - Experimental ML firmware 1.1.5 10-12 bit raw.
I can shoot [email protected] [2.35:1 ratio] in raw 10bits ( and kill pink dots with MLVPRODUCER )

I will test this week end in real life shotting conditions. But... Enormous Thanks !

Amazing Work ! Long life to Magic lantern. And thank you for all this working hours, ML is a genius job.
Thank to the ML community.

Hi,

Just :  THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quality of your work is amazing and thank you to share it !

Now, I use your smart and ergonomic software [v3354] in my workflow for : convert MLV to DNG and killing the fu**ing pink dot !
eos 700d - firmware 1.1.5 - experimental ML 1.1.5 with 10/12bits RAW
Now i can shoot at 1728x736@23,976 (2.35:1 ratio) in 10bit RAW.
(Before it was a nightmare : 1280 resolution / ratio 16:9 in 14bit raw only worked to kill pink dot)

So : BIG BIG BIG ENORMOUS THANKS !!!

Best regards from France
