One last update,

Bought a used sensor and adventured myself into the process of changing it.
Conclusion: The problem was somewhere in the sensor assembly. Got everything back together, focus adjusted and voila!

Camera is working as before the problem.

I'd like to thank everyone that posted here, specially a1ex for his support!

A little update..

I've sent the camera to Canon, they quoted me about 800€ for a sensor replacement. Not sure if they actually evaluated the problem.
Anyway, too expensive to justify the repair.

a1ex, I'm hopping you could do your magic, I've uploaded a resolution chart with better lighting and ISO 100.

Please let me know if I can do anything to help.
Worst case scenario, is it too difficult to make the post processing tool to interpolate the missing pixels?

Sorry, did not have enought light.

Will do it again.

Here it goes a1ex.

Let me know if I can do anything else. Thank you

@a1ex I understand, I'm still trying to figure out the source of the issue.
Since it has some information on the columns, could it be some sort of error associated with dual iso?
I found that when I zoom the photo quickly it briefly previews as "dual iso" dark preview. When I load a picture from another 5D3 on the camera with the issue, the preview is normal (without dark frames)
This "dark" preview shows some information on highlights (just like dual iso).
If you try to load one of the .CR2 on your camera and zoom quickly on the photo you'll see what i refer to.

Regarding the resolution chart, I don't have one, I believe that if I print one, the bottle neck would be the printer resolution.
I can print it anyway and shoot.

Hope this helps in someway

85K

I feel bad that this problem did appear while the camera was stored. It did a full wedding before and the issue does not appear on any of the photos. The first photo after storage reveals the issue.

Tried different cards, CF and and SD, even without card the issue is visible on Live View.
It's clear that it's not a writing error, something is wrong with the processing.

I removed the small battery in hope to do a full reset, but did not resolved the issue.

I'm afraid I'll have to take it to Canon :/

Any help is welcome!
Thanks

@a1ex here it goes.
There are the 3 Slient Pictures and 2 CR2's. One I took right now and one from the day the issue appeared.

I did make the factory reset but no luck.
The camera did not remain on, but knowing that your 7D fixed by itself makes me feel better.
I'm away from the PC but will upload a CRF as soon as I get there.

Thank you all

Hi,

I've had the camera stored for about one month and suddenly these black vertical lines appeared.
Check out the photo.

I've reset everything, unistalled ML lantern, updated for the latest nightly, removed bootloader,  reinstaled the 1.2.3, then the 1.1.3, restored about everything and problem pressists.
It shows on live view and video also.

Please tell me that my camera isn't damaged.. :/

Hello,

I've just received a Aputure V-Control that basically is a USB focus controller (just the Canon EOS software).
After a few tests, I end up with maximum refresh rate of the controler and maximum step size and still the focus is too slow, I mean really too slow. I need to turn the dial 7 turns to get it from infinity to close focus.
This controller should me mounted on a handheld brushless gimbal to control focus, but at this focus rate its impossible to control it. The ideal would be half turn or even full turn to get it from infinity to close focus.

Since the Follow Focus on the Magic Lantern works really well (10ms refresh, with step 2) I wonder if it would be possible apply those settings to the information getting in via USB.

In short: Could Magic Lantern get the USB follow focus behave faster?

This would be so great.
Thank you
Hugo

Edit:
Forgot to add the gear, this was on a 5DIII with Tokina 11-16, Sigma 35 1.4, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 85 1.4. All with same behaviour.

1.9.1:

- Fixed the proxy bug, it was very silly. Sorry about that. Should be working fine now.

You will see more options but disabled, that's because I was in the middle of implementing new stuff and hurried to fix this urgent bug.

Cheers!

Hey Tony,

I mean I'm really doing something wrong.
I tried this new version, tried the 1.6 one also.
Everything works perfectly except that i never get a proxy in the end. I selected correctly the 3 programs, i can preview all the footage, well, in resume everything looks ok until the end of the export.

It creates the TIF's but then deletes them and no proxy appear. I tried all ProRes options, no luck with any.
I know this is a bad issue report, but really don't know what to describe.

@Tony, this aplication looks like will match perfecly my transition from the .RAW to .MLV (leaving Rawanizer behind), but I'm having trouble getting the proxies.

I followed the first post from start to ending. I do state each folder correctly, i selected the proxy type (tried all of them), it extracts the DNG's, then exports the TIF's but in the end it just deletes the TIF's and says convertion done, with no proxy file generated.

I'm pretty sure something is wrong on my side, but I would love to get your help on this.

Thank you

I'm certanly doing something wrong.

I've read a few pages of this topic and could not find the answer, I try to convert the MLV to a proxy, it does extract the dng, then creates the TIF but concludes before creating the proxy.
I've the proxy selected, the destination folder also is selected.
I tried about every proxy options but none gives me a video file.

The source files are from 5d3, at 1920x1080 24fps.

Help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Is there any chance of, after creating a project with this method, create a trimmed project (for disk space saving) that would include the original DNG's from After Effects?

I've used this method and currently have 3 huge projects that I'd like to delete the unused RAW clips (and proxies), but when I create a trimmed project (Premiere>Project Manager) I only get the proxies, not RAW's or DNG folders.

I would really appreciate if anyone know how to do it.

Thank you!

Has anyone tested this card?
Is it faster than the 64gb 1000x? I'm looking for ultimate performance at crop.

Looking forward for your replies!

Will it work with a tascam DR 60D?
That would be great.

Is there any success story of anyone with a KomputerBay 1050X 128GB card on a Lexar 3.0 USB reader?
I have one of these cards and only this card reader, but I'm scared of inserting it.

Thanks

Is there a way to make the IR remote control to trigger movie recording instead of photo shooting?

I'm using this on a remote camera, since recording RAW, the useless minutes between the recording start and the actual action means lots of GB's and even a 128gb card full.

Thanks

Hi,

I've search on the feature requests, on not possible and to-do list and I was unable to find this request.
What I figured out that would be really helpful on my recordings was a function that, when I use Av or Tv modes (on events with variable light with no time to manually expose), the exposure was always measured until I press the record button, from that time until the recording has stopped the exposure was kept as it was in manual mode.

Other thing that would be great was manual control of ISO on Av or Tv modes, i use a 5D3 recording raw, I want the exposure to be compensated only with speed or aperture (Av or Tv) but with constant ISO. This works great in photo but as soon as i set it in movie mode it shows a message saying that its not available in auto modes.
This is a issue when recording RAW because there is no intermediate ISO's, so an ISO change is really noticable.

This basically are 2 feature requests, but since they are related i posted on one post. If needed i can split.

Thank you very much

I've just loaded the 2nd Aug. firmware but there is still missing sound recording.
Even out sync, this is an important feature, is there any chance i can load a sound rec module or could someone point me the link for the latest build with sound recording enabled?
Is there any expected timeframe to have this enabled?
#23
Since it only does 1080 at 24fps, probably bits slower than the 64GB version.
How about 48p, whats the max resolution? Compared to the 64GB.

What about warm up? Does it need to warm up?

Is there any chance of a benchmark from the Komputerbay 128GB 1000x card?
Will it be able to hold 1920x1080 continuously?
