Raw Video / Re: Bitrate Calculator for Magic Lantern Raw Video
« on: December 30, 2016, 11:01:08 PM »
I just updated it so that if you change the color depth (which you probably wouldn't normally do) it will plug into the formula (I had it hard-coded to "14" before).

nice work !

As i known - SteadyXP uses audio channel to sync the movement data with video. Another idea - you can use custom app on your smartphone (gyroscopes, accelerometers) to record this data and then sync it in post somehow (sound, or trigger).

thanks 350D,
Almost all android app I tested can not record data with fixed sample rate  :-\

not shure we have enough processor speed for both recording and quaternions calculation IMHO
if you have a Canon Camera , test it !  ;D

Like this: http://petapixel.com/2014/09/05/steadxp-hopes-add-accelerometer-dslrs-gopros-better-image-stabilization/#more-144279

how would one use the information for stabilization ?

I can write program for this reason, but now I don't have camera for record and test it.
if anyone can record and send for me, i can test it.

Feature Requests / Re: Recording gyro data for post stabilization!
« on: December 27, 2016, 06:51:31 PM »
http://builds.magiclantern.fm/features.html -> LEVEL_INDICATOR; these cameras report at least the roll angle; some of them also report the pitch angle. These angles are recorded from accelerometers, not gyroscopes.

For your purpose, I'm afraid none of them are good enough, but feel free to prove me wrong.

many thanks a1ex, you are nice man! :-*

Feature Requests / Recording gyro data for post stabilization!
« on: December 25, 2016, 08:54:57 PM »
Hello,
first of all thanks to you developers to do this amazing job!

I know many of canon cameras have built in gyroscope sensor for correcting angle of photo.
if we do record gyroscope data, in every frame, we can stabilize video in post same as "Steadxp" work.
the "Steadxp" is a similar device, that can record angular acceleration with fixed sample rate...... see her website :
https://www.steadxp.com

Please tell me if this is impossible, how can I do this like "steadxp"
I use "Arduino+MPU-6050" and so on, but its very hard to match the data and video  :-[
(sorry for my bad english)

Hi,

I can confirm mine does not work after following the steps.

Possible reason is mine is the old 70D, bought in December 2013 with serial number of 028#########.

The camera says Firmware update program, loading... and immediately reboots with Sensor Cleaning and nothing happens. No activity on the red LED too.

Will wait for an update :)

Thanks alot nikfreak for your effort

(copy / paste & change serial)

There's no ML for 70D yet, so I have no idea. Most likely it will be similar to the other DIGIC V models with SD card (but that's just a wild guess).

tanQ a1ex  :)

this camera has everything I need from my digital camera, just I'm fear about ML...

I hope ML developers answer me...

I was tired of opening the SD card on my Mac, copying the ML RAW files to my Desktop, drop them on raw2dng en delete the old RAW files on my Desktop.
I'm not a software programmer but made this possible with Apple's Automator.

1. Insert the SD-card
2. Start the Automator "ML RAW 2 DNG v0.01" task and the program will find the RAW files on your SD-card!
3. Wait till the RAW files are copied to a folder on your desktop named "ML RAW - {year}{month}{day}" and processed by raw2dng.
4. Press "Yes" to delete or "No" to keep the RAW files in the "ML RAW - {year}{month}{day}" folder.

Have fun!

wow! can you made another version for windows??

I have many idea for ML (in camera) where I can say my idea??

Hello,

I am having an issue. Whenever I try to process the footage in AE it get this error after hitting import. "After Effects error: the file format module could not parse the file. ( 45 :: 35 )" I followed all of the instructions of this tutorial:

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Any help would be most appreciated.

what footage?

you should convert 'raw' file to dng , then use in AE  ;)

try with this :

Hello all,

sorry for being a noob and slightly off topic... I currently have ML v2.3 installed. Do I need to reformat my cards and set my camera back to factory before installing the nightly builds?

Thanks

No, Just replace autoexec.bin in root folder and place "modules" in ML folder.

@saeed2vfx: you don't open these files in photoshop - they are not .RAW 32BPC HDR files that it supports. You need to convert it to a DNG sequence using RAW2DNG. Once you have the sequence, you can import it into After Effects or other editing/compositing suite (subject to support for DNG sequences) and start playing around with it.

thanks for reply

I know this is video !! But in my laptop, just Photoshop know this file...

I have not Mac , Can you get me a free software for convert these file in PC ??  :-\
