Aah Man. I take it there was no solution to this? (5 years later)

Thank you for posting this. I was freaking out thinking my sensor was damaged. It was a used camera.

Pardon me for what may be a simple question. I don't understand why there are no simple 1280 x 720 options in the raw resolution setting. (EOS M) Is it dependent on the lens you are using? I can shoot native 1280 x 720 but when shooting raw, the video files get stretched in some disproportionate manor. Not sure if it's the way raw recording acts or if I'm just not setting up the recording right.

I have an EOS M and I am not using the touch screen for shooting on the preview window. The Magic Zoom function is extremely useful but I need to use the half shutter button for auto focus and manual focus ring too which are essentially the only ways you can toggle the Magic Zoom so when I use those inputs for their intended purpose I have the Magic Zoom box spazzing as predicted... Any way to make something like a Script to use the touch screen to toggle Magic Zoom box?

I'm just getting into video shooting, picked up an EOS-M by a recommendation. This was all I could afford along with a 50mm lens and some minor accessories.

So from what I understand shutter speed determines how long the sensor is exposed to the light (in my case electronically since there is no mirror) Now this is understandable for photo, less exposure means less light so less motion blur but also less light means darker image so I crank up the lens aperture to let more amount of light in to compensate and the photo is done, (generally)

But does shutter speed work the same with video shooting or is there some other algorithm involved? Reason I'm confused is that there are certain settings the ML says "this feature is best used in photo mode" or "video mode". So does the video shooting also gets affected by the shutter speed override? I can set it to up to 1/4000 sec as per the manufacturer released info about the EOS-M. Native canon firmware allows you to set shutter speed manually for photo but not for video (unless when you set it manually it applies for both automatically)
