General Help Q&A / Re: Longer video files than 4GB?
November 12, 2015, 03:16:46 AM
I have tested formatting sd card to exfat and it still has the 30min/4gb limit (im on a 60d)...maybe Im not doing it right but even after I put the card in the camera and use it and then put it back in my pc and check it, it still says its in exfat so Im sure the camera didnt change it.

General Help Q&A / Re: Longer video files than 4GB?

Im new at this but I have literally just spent about 6 hours searching and trying things with no cure for the 4gb or 30min limit. I have a 3 hour video to do soon (given there will be pauses in which I can restart) and the only options Iv seen is to drop the bitrate, at .1 (which is horrible quality) I hit the 30min limit and the file size was only 800mb, so Im going to raise the bitrate until I get 30mins and as close to 4gb so the quality is as good as I can get from max record time. Hope this helps

General Help Q&A / Re: 60d to laptop
November 11, 2015, 08:13:55 PM
So Im reading that Tragic Lantern has a fix for the 4gb limit, format card in exfat and replace ML autoexe file on card with the one from Tragic Lantern 2.0....it says its for the 600d but Iv read of people using it on t3i and 60d...anyone have any experience?

Also is this the name of the correct file?:autoexe.bin.exfat.600d.latest

Im also considering a HD Game Recorder like a Roxio because I found one for $50, then I would just need the correct cables im guessing. In the near future I think Im going to go with the Atomos 4" but for now I just want to record liveview onto a laptop for cheap..lol

General Help Q&A / 60d to laptop
November 10, 2015, 03:13:54 AM
Iv searched and searched for hours and have not found what Im looking for. I want to record live view straight to my laptop (not hitting record on my camera)...my purpose is to be able to record for an extended period and very high quality is not the big issue. Can I run a mini hdmi from my 60d to the usb 3.0 on my laptop? Or do I have to have a hdmi recorder between my camera and laptop? I have a 3 hour video (with minimal pauses between speeches) and I would like to find a way to record to my much larger laptop memory and only have the camera in standby/liveview instead of to my 16gb card and have it shut off every 4gb
