Now it works again, thanks!
Hi, I´ve used cr2dng.exe at several computers and I was very happy with it.

With Windows 8.1 (which I hate for several reasons) I fail. I do the same thing as always - having the converter and the .cr2 in the same directory and moving the cr2 onto the converter.

For a _very_ short time a dos-window opens and closes itself immediately. No conversion happens. No .dng file is created. It closes itself so fast that it is impossible to read anything. So in case there is an error message I don´t see it. The pause key doen´t help.

What can I do?

Thank you for the links and the explanation, dmilligan! That helps to understand.

Hi everyone,

I have a understanding problem how the 700D works internally.

Why is it not possible, to shoot in LiveViw continously high-res photos while the mirror is permanently locked up?

Why using the mechanical shutter at all?

If I get it right, in LV the shutter is open and the mirror is up. The light hits the sensor and the sensor data is streamed to the LCD, right?

Why not writing the complete sensor data with as many fps as possible into a buffer and then averaging for every pixel over the desired exposure time? RAM limitations?

But again, although I´m programming microcontrollers I have no knowledge yet, how a DSLR - especially the 700D internally works.

A link or a short explanation would be highly appreciated.

What is the difference to shooting a RAW video? What limits the resolution? Is it the amout of data that needs to be written? Or is it the bandwith of the internal DSP that limits the resolution? What about a RAW video with the full sensor resolution and - lets say 3 fps?

In case the reference to the forum search was meant for me - does that mean the answer to my questions is "yes, it´s possible"?

Within the last days I read a lot here, but couldn´t find answers to my questions concerning these specific camera model. That´s why I ask in the forum now.

I would really appreciate a general answer like "sure, no problem" or a "forget it with the 700D".

Thank you!

I´m missing a feature: a permanent mirror lockup when shooting photos using LiveView.

Is that somehow possible? From my limited technical understanding I see no reason why the mirror needs to move in that situation.

Or is it already implemented and I just didn´t find the option yet?

Another question: Is there any way to activate LV + a magified window + focus peaking? I don´t care, how slow it would become.

Thanks for any hint,
