The longest take I took on my 5D2 was 16 min @ 1872x936 (55GB) for a interview
but at smaller frame size you can record longer

http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=16650.msg162823#msg162823

Now that I think about it, I probably don't want to do an hour interview in MLV if you have 55GB after only 16 min! I need a second camera so I can edit out when the 4GB limit is reached. And they say boats are holes in the water you pour money into. HA! ... if they only knew.  ::)

Hello,

On the first page of this thread, reply #5, there's a list of recording times. When "continuous" is mentioned in the chart, is it truly continuous or is the camera still limited to the 12 or so minutes of recording?

Just place all your <filename>.M* files into a folder and let MLVFS do the rest.

I assume you mean place the .M00 files with the original MLV file in a single folder, in sequence. Or do you mean just the .M00 files in a folder?

Thanks for the reply, dmilligan.

FAT32 format has this limitation, ExFAT does not. ... If you deleted the .M00 files, then you actually deleted part of your recording.

:o - well, at least I have some MLV files from my four hundred mile drive to the coast  :-\

Next time I get .M00 files how do I combine them with the MLV files? I'm using MLVFS. I did a quick search of the 45 pages in the  "MLVFS - a FUSE based, "on the fly" MLV to CDNG converter" thread but didn't find an answer.

Frank7D - They may have been .M00 files. I deleted them as I didn't see any need for them considering how I'm using the .MLV files.  Sometimes they show up on my card and other times not. Why they show sometimes and not others I don't know but would like to find out so I begin to understand what I'm doing differently and how it may influence an end product later on.
Thanks for the reply.

General Help Q&A / .MO files
February 25, 2016, 10:20:11 PM
What are .MO files? If I don't need them (I don't need audio if that's what they're for) how do I keep them from recording to the CF card?
This seems like such a basic question I'm surprised I couldn't find any reference. Sorry if this has been covered ad nauseam.

General Help Q&A / 23.976 FPS for DVD's?
February 23, 2016, 04:16:36 AM
I've been searching but can't find an answer.

I'm recording raw at 23.976 FPS. There's a good chance I'll be making a DVD of the project meaning 30FPS would be best - so I've been told. Do any of you have thoughts on the best FPS rate for different end use applications / pros and cons.... ? or know of links I may have missed that already cover this?

At least, this is how it is supposed to work, and how it works on Mac.

I'm using a Mac and have the same problem where only the first dng in the After Effects sequence has the Camera Raw corrections. There's a video I saw where Reddeercity uses Camera Raw in After Effects on the first dng and each subsequent dng has the corrections - not just the first. I'm not noticing any difference in what I'm attempting from the settings in reddeercity's video (I think). Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? In other threads I recall people complaining about later versions of After Effects. Could it be an issue with the latest version of AE CC?

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 5D Mark II / 5D2

Thanks, Jedi.
I'm still perplexed though. I haven't changed any settings but this last time when I looked at Global Draw under the Overlay menu it WAS illuminated. Oh well - in any case focus peaking seems to be working now. The next trick will be to get the camera raw filter in After Effects to edit more than just the first dng in the sequence. ...back to the search menu I guess...  unless someone here knows the answer!  :D :) :D

Do you mean under the overlay menu? Because there it says Global Draw is on - however it's not illuminated.

[EDIT] OK - focus peaking is working but I am curious why Global Draw is on but not illuminated. Sorry if that's too much of a noob question.

... just noticed that I cant enable focus peaking while shooting raw video with the modules enabled as advised on the first page of this thread. Tried searching but can't find anything dealing with it. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

Lucky guess.  :D
I now have a .MLV and a .tmp in my 100EOS5D folder.
Last time I tried this I had .RAW files.
...confused...
Do you have a thread option for me to follow from here on out for Mac processing?
And Thank You Very Much for the reply!

Hello,
Is the first page on this thread regarding enabling raw video (5D2) still current? For example, it mentions, "Modules like MLV Sound(mlv_snd.mo..." I don't even see a module called "mlv_snd.mo"  In any case I seem to be doing something wrong. I compared what I thought was a raw enabled video to one taken on a card without Magic Lantern and they look the same. Did a lot of searching and can't find an answer. Thanks for any replies.

Hello,

I'm sure this is a way basic question so I'll first say, yes, I've tried searching to find an answer here and elsewhere.

How do you capture an image of the LCD screen?

An example is in the fist post of this thread  -  http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=11205.0

General Help Q&A / Re: FPS Override Question
February 24, 2015, 05:39:50 PM
dmilligan - Excellent. Thanks.

SuperMouseDV - I have been using the intervalometer and like it's relative simplicity. I'm just looking for a way to do timelapse without the wear and tear on the camera and don't need large high quality files for what I'm currently doing. I came across the FPS override and have the feeling once I get past the learning curve it will suit my needs better. ML is a fantastic tool that adds exciting potential for my projects but the learning curve has been a bitch, so I truly appreciate the time folks like dmilligan, Walter Schulz, audionut and others are willing to take on nubie's like me. Thanks again all!

General Help Q&A / Re: FPS Override Question
February 24, 2015, 02:37:53 AM
I reformatted my card and installed magiclantern-Nightly.2015Feb20.5D2212.zip
I'm now able to play in camera (FPS set at 1.5) but what I see in the LCD isn't anything like a timelapse. It's choppy and barely faster than 1.5 FPS. I'm using RAW Magic Lite on my Mac for RAW video but looking for another converter for the MLV files. Any thoughts on a converter I should use?

In the modules pulldown it has mlv_play marked as OK. That does mean it's loaded, right? After recording a FPS Override movie (at 1.5) I try to play it in-camera and get a can't play video message.

dmilligan - By the way, I checked my .MO files and I already have the mlv_play module.
Thank you Audionut. That's given me plenty of stuff to read. I'm getting the impression that I must convert to DNG. Is that correct?

Sorry for the nubie questions but I'm not finding answers in the FAQ or elsewhere --
Once I download the MLV files, then what? It's a unix executable file.
...on a macbook pro.

MLV -- I think   :-\
There doesn't seem to be a problem recording. Playback is the issue and I didn't have much luck downloading.

General Help Q&A / FPS Override Question
February 18, 2015, 10:27:15 PM
On my 5D2 I'm doing something wrong when trying the FPS Override. At 1 FPS what do I need to do to get the timelapse to play? I was using the intervalometer with no problems but want to lengthen camera life.
