Feature Requests / Re: Pixel shift resolution
May 15, 2015, 08:09:17 AM
Thanks for the link ItsMeLenny,
It's impressive..

Don't know how the clean sensor works.. it seems to me that it quickly shakes the sensor..
but turning around the bayer pattern requires to move the sensor in some micro-positions precisely..

It looks promising...

Don't know how it would be difficult to code this for magic lantern...
???

Sorry A1ex, I misunderstood

Sensor can't buffer two isos at the same time and the dualiso process is only line by line ...

Sorry for the noob question..

Hi,

I wondered if it was possible to write to disk a regular cr2 during the dualiso process.
Sometimes, dualiso doesn't offer good post-processing in détails (flower fields seems to be painted for example)
I know that i could alternate dualiso and regular in two takes, but sometimes it is played to the second !!!
But dualiso is a great improvement, but regular cr2 is a great security too..

Thanks a lot..

Feature Requests / Re: Slit-Scan photography effect
November 13, 2013, 03:24:55 PM
 :D thanx mageye

I missed this change..
But I don't see any custom submenu for changing the duration of the effect.
@25fps the duration is 50 seconds.

Is it customizable in time ? and from left to right or backward ?

For sure, it could be done in post-production...
But in few seconds you can see the result

I made a test with the 1DC 4K video camera..
http://www.flickr.com/photos/laurent_valencia/10745702086

But it's very hard to have a good workflow @25fps.. and with HD video you only have a 2mpx.. it's very cheap for printing.

I know this is not a technological breakthrough, then it does not interest many people...

Feature Requests / Slit-Scan photography effect
November 08, 2013, 01:34:51 PM
Hi,

I wonder if it is possible to make this effect on a single shot (not a video effect).
In fact it would record the lines one by one sensor from top bottom or left to right during a request period and write a dng after that.

Here's an article about this old photography effect
http://people.rit.edu/andpph/text-slit-scan.html

And thanx to all for what's done here by the ML crew.

So is it possible to grab the jpeg S mode @24 or @25fps ?
Or the jpg compression is too heavy at this rate for the cpu ?

I'm around 65-70mbs with my transcend 32gb 1000x...
With window's benchmark it's around 95-100 mbs.

At work we bought an 1DC with a 64gb 1000x Hoodman steel (350$), so i made a small bench...
I write 74mbs continuously  8)

Hi,

This is a small vimeo with raw shots and gopro3@60fps.

Have fun!!!

Feature Requests / RAW and JPG writing module
June 25, 2013, 04:26:49 PM
Hi,

I'm totaly amazed by all the work done here for raw recording.
It's very remarquable and it's a great advance.

I wonder, if it might be possible, like 12 or 10 bits discussions, to simply write 8 bits Jpeg sequences directly to the card.
The render, also in 8bits, is far away better than the old h264 canon, and, in several cases, it will help a lot and save disk spaces.
With a flaat profile and ETTR, we could approach something cool in 1080p without several post-processings.

Files could be less than 2Mo and we could have a constant record @25fps (50mb/s)

The Jpeg S mode in 5d2 writes 2784x1856 without flickering for a 1-2.5 Mb per file.
We could reach 3K with nice shots.

Thanx for your opinions,
A great job is already done here...

last build is great "ee3385aa13bd"

I did some test in 16:9 ratio @25fps without drops in C1 mode :
1880x1058 = 250 frames (+ 2% scale for 1080)
1728x972 = 1050 frames  !!!!  (+11 % scale for 1080)
1600x900 = infinite at only 1* and 1000 frames with audio (+20% scale for 1080)

Curently write speed is @ 65-69 mb/s with a transcend 1000x 32Gb

XML config saving is very useful !!!

Great improvements... :D

Raw Video / Re: NOISE REDUCTION SETTING 5D3

NR settings only affect JPG file.
Raw format, capture all raw informations from sensor.
So you could apply NR values in post with adobe camera raw.

@fatpig,

Yes..
Just have a look in your canon menu to enable LV+video and some other options.
After that, don't forget to save your user profile.
I just gain 80 Mo in memory (183 Mo in M mode versus 259Mo with c1)

I have trancend 1000x 32 Gb, but i randomly record between 50-65Mo/s
50Mo/s on an empty card and 65 after several takes.. :-\

Thanx a.d for your update ;)

 :) :) :) :) :)
fatpig, you make may day !!!

The h264 will be useful, we could edit with proxies and replace them by dng's sequence.

@Powerpc
Sorry, I just used your tool and  i didn't see that it was raw2dng(b)... I thought that you had rewritten the main raw2dng code.
Sorry for this, it works like a charm..

Merci à toi...
PS même time zone que toi, mais plus dans le sud... :)

@Stedda
thanx for this info, but what's RAWanizer, I googled it, but it seems that i did not find any informations about this..

Powerpc did a great job with his update, but it would be very cool if someone could write a gui for raw2dng.
It could always work also with the lastest build.
It could batch rename, increment, create folders, and my dream, make an mp4 preview as a proxy.

I agree with zachnfine.

Keeping a movie info in txt with all good exif values could be also useful.. (resolution, focal, shutter speed, iso, date, lens info...)

Any other improvements are welcome.

Raw Video / Raw2dng development ideas
May 21, 2013, 09:56:00 AM
Hi, things seems to be moving quickly... :D
I'm not a coder, but i'm getting the idea that raw2dng could be also a management tool.

With a gui, it could take an entire raw folder and create dng's subfolders with raw's names.
Perhaps, also creating a folder with a low res mp4 proxyfile that it could be useful before developping dngs.

The first step with the gui could be easy... but could not be the last...

Thanx to all for your amazing work..
