I haven't seen any workflows for MLV to Blender (Blender.org) which are both great projects; so I thought how about one? If any, already exists; let me know.

Hey everyone

I just came across the FFMPEG software (https://www.ffmpeg.org/); which I think some of you may already know about and I began wondering if there might be a way to make Magic Lantern take full advantage of its incredible features, especially the compression in one way or another. Besides it is even a great software for multi-platform streaming (talk about having your own broadcasting).

What do you think?

Hey guys; I just figured out that one can actually import image sequences with Apple Compressor and here are three tutorials that I think are helpful:

But my worry rbrune is that H.264 is somewhat of a GOP than an I-frame in terms of compression, considering that I still need to edit the file in FCP7.

Hey guys; thanks for the advices. I just discovered actually that for anyone on a tight budget, Blender (www.blender.org) is yet another alternative for converting image sequences and more; let alone that it is totally free as well.

And the quality wow!! Okay basically I am using a Canon 5D mkiii, shoot with a flat profile at 1920x1080 on a San Disk 64GB 160MB/s Extreme Pro Compact Flash Card and here's my workflow:

MLVBrowseSharp - FREE (MLV to DNG; if it stops for any reason in the future, just uninstall the .NET framework and reinstall it again.)
Lightroom 5 - CHEAP (Okay; here I do pretty-much most of what you'd do on a raw photo, vignetting and export sequence as .tiff)
Blender 2.72b - FREE (Convert my .tiff image sequence to .H264 while retaining all or most of the quality (Everything looks perfect))

You can make your cuts on Blender (FREE) as well or any editing software of your choice from then on. I use the DSLR Controller app on my LG G3 smartphone to setup and monitor my shots and then switch it completely off during raw recording. I also heard that it helps to disable Global Draw and set your CF card to capture RAW images on you camera. Check the VLC snap shots of my videos below for reference. Oh; forgot to mention that while I wait through the processes I read my FREE 'King James Pure Bible Search' software  :) by Pastor Mike Hoggard (YouTube).

Here's my workflow; I use MLVBrowseSharp to convert MLV to DNG, I used Lightroom 5 to process the images then export them as Tiff, I then Quicktime Pro 7 to import the image sequence and export it as any of the Apple Pro Res formats, from here I use my good old Final Cut Pro 7 to cut the video and send it to Apple Color for grading, after rendering in Color I send the graded file back to Final Cut Pro 7 and export it. I hope this helps.

Hey mates; just want to say that it's been great knowing some of you but the time has come since I traded in my 60D and Tokina 11-16mm cropped sensor lens for a 3rd of the Canon 5D iii price and of course got me a 5D iii.

Keep it up and I'll popping in every now and then just to check how things are going here.

All the best; peace!!

Like I said, I'll test it and if it's better than H.264; well that's good enough for me.

Okay guys; I'm back for one reason, which is to confess that 60D and RAW continuous recording are a lost cause. However! On a positive note, I discovered how to remedy the situation with a user defined flat picture profile as well the use of ISO and Aperture to get more detailed shots even at night thanks to this dude https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPIOPc71REY

Happy shooting "Dynamite 60D Dudes"!

Okay people; I think I have found a way to record raw continuously on a 60D although it comes at a cost of a lot of dropped frames and I am yet to convert it and see what the results are. Since I'm in a hurry right now to work (on a Sunday  :'(), here are my settings under the Nightly Builds Modified tab:

(Using Canon 60D; 64GB SDXC at 30MB/s card)

Global Draw: OFF; Bit Rate: CBR; BuffWarnLevel: 80%; FPS Overide: 25; Desired FPS: 25 (From 25); Optimize for: Exact FPS; RAW video (MLV): ON, 1280x720; Resolution: 1280x720; Create directory: ON; Frame skipping: Allow; Files > 4GiB (exFAT): ON; Card warm-up: 32MB; RAW video: ON, 1280x720; Resolution: 1280x720.

It recorded until I decided to stop it round about 2 minutes still counting, but like I said it was dropping quite a huge number of frames.

I'm back! well considering that I'm very busy lately the best I can do for now is show you a picture of the outcome of my 60D continuous recording ungraded straight from MLViewer at 1280x720 which aint bad considering that it was a handheld shooting on my bed. This calls for more tests on my side. Can someone tell me how to insert an image here straight from my desktop?
