Is it possible to use ML in a EOS 5D mark I? Lots of old cheap ones out there 
I think I have searched everywhere, it looks like that ML starts in 5D mark II and 50D?

Yes it´s an old camera, but still playing. And yes I have upgradet.   I got myself an EOS 6D, nice camera, but not the best for ML. (SD card)
Therefore, I still wonder if ML works with EOS 7D?
