But buying a Canon camera doesn't mean that devs get anything from that.
A1ex doesn't get money every time someone purchases a Canon camera.

If it could be done easily it would've been picked up.
The problem looks like a canon firmware thing, you should actually contact canon.

Because the lens seems mechanically designed to keep a persistant aperture.
Which all canon DSLRs do is try to correct an inconsistent  aperture lens.

that was not what i meant... what i meant was..

i had a Sony cam.. and saw this fantastic ML addon, and RAW video.... then i bought a Canon cam.

in my eyes ML dews are total badass... so i was a disapointed to get that answer.

I bought a canon cam. because of ML.. im disappointed by your bad attitude... :(

ok. sorry... it just seems like noone is watching? and/or want to comment on, if it is possible...

If your date dossent return you first call... then you just dont call her anymore? (bump) - that really dossent show that you want her ;)

is this possible? -- Alex?
#5
yeah... well i hope ML dews can disable it... its really annoying

Hey.

i would really like to make lens correction to the DNGĀ“s
But Lightroom export is just way to slow to be a realistic option.

is there any other way to make lens correction when shooting RAW?

i have made a video showing to problem and the "fix" http://youtu.be/RrYmeN5_M-Y

well... it it the sigma 50-500 thread here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=10520.new#new video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1tbK8kDxi8

i have tested it with disengaging the lens contacts.. and as i wrote the camera compensated perfectly with AUTO ISO and Exposure... and that lens is 10x zoom, so if it works on this lens.. it will work on them all

Like milligan said.. id rather have a darker video than a blinking one.

yeah what dmilligan said...  :D

Hey..

when i record video with tele lens, i hit a problem. The apeture changes and the video will flicker.

you can see the problem in my thread here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=10520.0

what would be nice in the movies menu, ability to diable auto apeture, so if you select F8, then you are ALWAYS at F8 no matter if you are at 50mm or at 500mm
I tried to cover the contacts on the lens with tape, and everything was perfect, the camera compensated perfectly with auto ISO

the downside of the tape solution, is that you cant take pictures, get stabilazation, and AF. so basic, tape sux :( - but it showed that the auto apeture was causing the flickering.

is this hard to do? I know its doable. you are the ML dews :D

tape worked. but even that i only cut out the apeture control, then i still loose ability to take pictures and and using lens stab. not very good... also i wouldent like to fiddle with tape at a site.

i hope this can be done ML wise.

milligan.. that actually solved the porblem 100%... i shoot with Av program... and the auto ISO solves the light problem UN NOTIABLE!!! :)

but i really cant run around with a unfastened lens... it there a way software wise that can turn of this auto apeture function? ML??? hack?

or is the low tech best solution to cover some of the connections on the lens with a piece of tape? - that i think is very unproffesional :(

hmm afford er new lens... well i dont know any that would do the job better then the one ive bought.

i was mostly hoping for some software that could soften the hard change out. so you wont notice it, or fix it with a smooth exposure?

is there no way for ML to lock the lens at for instance. F10, for is it the lens it self.. that auto changes the apeture? you cannot unscrew the lens.. the LW will turn off and ask you to put the lens back on :)

Raw Video / exposure flickering? Auto Aperture problem
February 16, 2014, 04:09:33 PM
Hey. i have just made a test video.. and i have a question...

the video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1tbK8kDxi8

when i zoom out. the lights flickers.. i thought the lens was changing apeture. but i have recorded everything at F8

is it automatic iso which is changing, or is it some exposure?

ive recorded using Av program

hey i use a new KB 1000x 128gb CF, i shoot 1920x1080 (.mlv) with sound (48khz) unlimited frames :)
#22
i all new to this RAW shooting.. but i think your program is awesome :)

it would be nice with a installer, so it would just update itself instead :)
#23
its a new 1000x 128gb, like i wrote  :P

but my recording still crash... is my setup wrong in my RAW .MLV setup?

Benchmark was developed to measure maximum speed performance at different cluster size.

I believe during playback-benchmarking there is less use of the CPU so that the highest recording speed can be obtained and compared to what the manufacturer claims.  If you benchmark in movie mode then there are a lot of settings that can slow down recording so it is not recommended to test in this mode.

To Benchmark you card properly for MAX speed compatible with ML:

1. Go to ML and turn OFF Global Draw
2. Do not test while LV is active, meaning not in video mode or photo with Live View Mode.  This is refereed to testing in Playback mode
3. Make sure your Camera Auto Power off is disabled in Canon menu.
4. Go to the ML menu and find the Debug menu and then the Benchmark, and select Card R/W benchmark (5min)

When the benchmark has finished ML will automatically record the bitmap image in your card.

VERY IMPORTANT

Make sure that in Canon Menu:
Image Quality = Raw for (5D3, 650D,  ....) some others may be better in jpg
Auto Lighting Optimizer = OFF
Long exp. noise reduction = OFF
High ISO speed NR = OFF
Highlight tone priority = OFF
Multiple Exposure = Disable
HDR Mode = Disable HDR

and.. to get the zoom function to work in LV you need to "Enable" Live View shooting  and also AF mode set to "Live mode", of course this is done in Canon menu.  check your camera specifics to the zoom function working in Live View

this was just a great post.. after making your setup of my 5D3 i got theese results.. i think i should be quite pleased?

Komputerbay 1000x 128gb card bought a week ago.

How do i force the camera to use the best buffer size? or will it do that auto?

but then my recording looks like this... is the green line the buffer?
