Did you make the cards bootable? You need to update the ML firmware on the camera with every card you want to use (at least once).
Maybe this will work?; delete everything from your card on a pc, then put it back into you camera. Format the card from within the camera. Then when the card has been successfully formatted put magic lantern on the card + the magic lantern firmware, put the card back into your camera, go to the canon menu and update your firmware. When that's done you turn of your camera, and when your turn it back on hopefully everything will work properly.

Thanks for the post, but I did all of that to begin with and the RAW video on them worked a couple of times. I ran the firmware update on each of the cards with the ML files on them to make them bootable.  Then all of a sudden they were completely unreadable by the camera, and wouldn't even allow me to format them in-camera anymore. I didn't modify the cards in any way on my computer, simply copied the RAW files off of the card and ejected it. I'm returning them as defective and buying some Transcend 1000x 64GB cards now.

It's a USB 2.0 card reader. I didn't really do much on the card reader other than copy the files to my computer. Then I formatted it in camera to clear it.

I ordered a Gold Flash Firewire 800 card reader and it should be here sometime this week so I will see if that helps. I'm leaning towards getting a Transcend card now since I've heard a lot of good things about those cards.

Those transcend 128GB cards look nice. Pretty high price tag on them, but I suppose you get what you pay for. It has the movie slate icon with a 20 in it, and so does the SanDisk 120MB/sec card. But the SanDisk says it has a write speed of only 60 MB/sec while the Transcend says write speeds of 120 MB/sec.

Danne, how much video do you get on that 128 GB card shooting at 1920x1080? Do you have just one card? I'm wondering if it would be better to get two 64GB cards so if I am on a shoot and want to transfer footage while I'm shooting on another card it might be handy to have two going.

Does it matter what card reader you use it with?

What card reader do you use?

I'm using an Iogear card reader, model # GFR281

I'm a little confused about how the cards are labeled. Some of them are labeled like "1000x", and others are labeled in MB/s. You say that 1000x would work for 83Mb/sec, but it would seem like cards that are labeled 120 MB/s would work much better than. Do you know how 1000x would translate to MB/sec?

I just tried my 16GB Sandisk 60MB/s card in there and it seems to work great, especially when I turn the quality down to 1280x720. I think I'll just be done with the POS Komputer bay cards :)

I've tried some 64GB Komputer bay cards and it appears as though my 5D Mk II is either making them corrupt, or the cards are defective. They work fine for recording for about 10 seconds. I copy the files onto my computer, then put them back in the camera to format them, keeping the ML on the card.

I did another shoot, used the same process, except this time when I put the cards back in my camera, it doesn't recognize them and says they weren't formatted in this camera and to re-format them. The weird thing is, is that there are jumbled up words in the upper left hand corner of the screen. It looks like 2 or 3 layers of words so i can't make out what they say.

I can't reformat the card on the camera, it won't allow me to select that options on the camera, and even if I delete everything on the computer and totally wipe the card clean, it still won't allow me to format them in-camera. It has happened with two of my 64GB Komputer Bay cards.

Do you think it's the cards themselves? Maybe I should return them as defective and try out a different brand...

I returned the 128 GB Komputer Bay cards and purchased the 64GB 1000x Komputer Bay cards. I got it to work on all of them, but after recording a few short RAW movies, my 5D Mk II gives me an error when I insert one of the cards back into the camera. It says it's not formatted on this camera, so I try to format it in using the camera, and it won't allow me to even format it there. There's a weird jumbled up message in the top right corner of the camera screen that looks like it's 2 or three lines of text layered over each other so I can't make out what it says.

I'm starting to lose a little faith in the Komputer Bay cards. I don't really want to spend the money for the expensive Lexar cards though so I'm not sure what to do yet. I may try and return these cards as defective as well. The short clips that did work look nice though, but it wouldn't record more than 10 seconds of video at at 1728x972.

I will check those out. Thanks so much!

Thanks for your reply. I should've specified my camera, but I'm using a 5D Mk II.

Everything works fine for the 16 GB Sandisk, but it's just too slow for the video so I know I'm at least doing the correct procedure for installation. I think I may send the cards back and try some Lexar brand cards...even though they are very expensive! You can't get much on the 16 GB raw steel card though can you?

I just bought two 128 GB 1000x Komputer Bay cards in order to have fast cards for RAW video. I'm having issues with both of them, which leads me to believe that, even though online it says they are perfectly good, that these are bad cards. They were way cheaper than anyone else and I may be realizing why :)

Using the same files on the cards, my 16GB SanDisk card worked fine, except it was too slow for the RAW video. With the 128GB 1000x Komputer bay cards, one of them worked to install the ML software, but I would receive an error for loading the RAW video module. The second Komputer bay card fails to find the update file and tells me to please check memory card and reload the batter and try again.

Should I just send them back and get higher quality cards?

Thanks in advance.
