There is a kick starter for CFast to dual SSD here.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/648471422/rig-friendly-c-box-system-use-any-ssd-on-your-cfas

They did it and (mass) production should start soon!
Hopefully they will do a CF to dual SSD next!!!!

Hi all,

Thanks to g3gg0 knowledge and help I was able to recover my M00 files in SD card without the original MLV files.

Background
I converted MLV files and forgot to check the SD card. I also rename the dngs and trash the original MLVs.
As a resulkt I got lots of incomplete and kind of drop frames sequences

Solution
g3gg0 wrote a code line that enabled me to recover these files.
Then I matched the new dngs with the ones I transcoded days before.
As a result I now have complete sequences! Happy days!!

It's all inside this folder "recover_mlv_chunk" in my dropbox

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a6jj1tmjvpwum73/AACt3ifUaK5pVKUv_vKSNxzPa?dl=0

You should have 2 folders "mlv_chunk_fixer" and "Time_advance"

You should put your 2 files inside the mlv_chunk_fixer. A random MLV and the problematic M00

code line (fix_chunk.sh)
./fix_chunk.sh  <good_mlv_file>  <orphaned_chunk_file

"good_mlv file" - doens´t have to be the original .MLV. It can be an image you just shot

"orphaned_chunk_file" - M00 file

Write the code in terminar and your ready to go

Excellent job g3gg0!

Not sure a 250€ monitor would have accurate waveform or zebras. Not sure the Ninja Blade would also and it costs a lot more.
You can use ML ones. At the moment I set the shot with all overlays and clear them when recording. It has been working so far.

I use a Lilliput  (with mlv 113) but resolution and contrast are pretty bad. Ok for for interior shots. Thinking of getting a Ninja Blade for monitoring, recording and playing back. That way I can use prores for proxies and dng for online editing.

Temperature is the same with mlv and without. Thank you

Tried to dump M00 files but since I only have the renamed dng (not MLV) I can't access them. I get this message

Also tried the mlv sharp and got this message (Im using osx 10.10.2)

So when I dump the recorded files from both cards in same folder I should have a complete video (dng) file.  Thats great I can use all cards still :)

Is there any way I can recover just the M00 files in this situation?

Yes thank you

My bad Im sorry about the previous post.  :(

I forgot to check the second card for missing files. I check it today with the video almost ready and there are a lot of them. Now I have the original files renamed and archived and 171 new M00 files. Don't really know what to do with them. Can someone help please?

Still worried about the overheating problem

Cheers

Hi everyone,
I did some free work for an ong this weekend and I got some serious problems (for the fist time since using ML). Hope you guys can help.
Im using canon 5D MK3 firmwire 113 and MLV April 2014 with external monitor via HDMI

Fist of all the camera got to 50ºC. Its the first time I got the temperature icon blinking. It was working for less than 1.5h. I turned the camera off and on again and the problem was gone. I didn't work for that long afterwords so I can't tell if it was really gone. Then, when reviewing the clips in resolve I found out that the structure of many clips were broken. Instead of having a 1000 frame clip I had many smaller clips that together woud sum up 1000 frames. There are some missing frames in between.

Could this be a problem with my Komputerbay cards (one 1000x 128GB and 2x 64GB 1050x) . With the Lexar 1066x 128GB it worked ok. Because Im using CF Card workaround for slower cards the camera doens't stop recording like it did before. So the broken clip structure might be the previous drop frame stop recording issue? Could that be the reason? In addiction would that also be the reason for the camera to overheat?
I will be able to use some of the footage but obvioulsy I am a bit worried and afraid of using this camera in future jobs

I just did a camera scan (quick test) and got a smile back saying the camera is ok. The camera is hot though 44ºC. I think the rubber skin might cause heating issue

Help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Lovely!

As for colour grading I found it easier to use BM 4k Lut and reduce saturation. Probably not the best option but I think it worked!

The ideia of this short video was to build a creative and coherent narrative from bits and pieces of 10 interviews done to 10 portuguese street artists about their style, while they were painting Rua da Lionesa's Wall.

Hi,
Ive also just finished this job where most of it was shoot in raw with 5DMK3. Coming from a video background (and  little expericne in raw and DSLR) I wanted to see how I would manage so much raw material (15 days - 300GB day). I must say I was very happy to see that all went smooth. Time consuming as expected but excellent quality.
Then, I only had 15 days to edit 1x 15 minute doc/corporate video, 2x 3min teasers and do the music production and so I couldn´t really spend time colour grading which was a shame. For that reason I decided to use Hunters LUT. It was great to have this free LUT and for some images it worked pretty well. No much room to work with  but It was fast and had no complains from the client. Im now back in resolve to see what else I could better and Ive found that Blackmagic 4K LUT works ok. A few adjustments and its looks good. Maybe a little oversaturated.
Here is a still of an interview.

Thanks arrinkiiii.
Shooting with a dslr (lightweight camera) is a pleasure and with raw module is a priviledge. Hopefully good things will come out of this.

November 22, 2013, 06:28:55 PM
I really would like to thank ML team for giving me the change to work on another level. I've been producing videos for a few years now and I own a micro business www.indystream.pt. With ML RAW quality video it seems i'm starting all over again!
I do all kinds of jobs. Whatever pays the rent. I love being a cameraman, editor, music producer and animator. I love producing! It figures im single still hehehe!
Always dreamt of filming cinematography quality videos but due to gear prices I thought it would always be a dream. NOW I CAN! Its a dream come true!

I don't really know how to thank you enough.
THANK YOU, YOU GUYS ROCK!
