Very pretty shots, but I didn't like the editing at all...

Share Your Videos / 5DIII RAW in ZEF culture party!
April 27, 2015, 02:58:10 AM
Hi guys,

Here's a brief aftermovie of a ZEF culture party I shot last week, entirely on 5dIII raw. Most of the shots were done with Canon 24mm f/1.4 lens on f/2.0, ISO 6400 (was very dark!). Applied 25% denoise in ACR. Converted to log space, and applied Vision 6 LUT by osiris, then graded in Premiere Pro CC.

Enjoy!

Hi guys,

I've recorded a clip last night from a gig using MLV module on 5DIII 1.1.3, Feb 24 build.

Using Lexar 64gb x1066 CF, formatted as ExFat. I see the file was split into several other files (M06-0059.MLV, M06-0059.MRX, M06-0059.IDX, M06-0059.M00, M06-0059.M01... M06-0059.M06).

Now, when I open the M06-0059.MLV file on MlRawViewer 1.3.3 - I can play the full clip (~8800 frames) with no problem. But when I choose to export as DNGs, for some reason I find only 1365 frames in the DNG folder + full WAV file... same thing happens if I use MLVmystic to convert.

Anyone care to advise?
Best

Hey guys,
Interesting discussion in here.

I've recently moved to .MLV and I seem to be experiencing exactly the same problem KenshirouX did with RAW.

Always when my recording ends because card gets full - the last file to be recorded is unusable via MLRawViewer.. I try to drag the MLV on the MlRawViewer.exe and nothing happens. Also, I find that the card contains some extra files for the last MLV to be recorded (i.e for M22-1534.MLV I get M22-1534.M01, M22-1534.M02.... M22-1534.M08). Is there a reason for this? Any way to retrieve the last MLV and convert it to DNGs?

Any help will be appreciated!

Raw Video / Re: Strange MLV issue on 5D-III

And I don't reckon its an error in the file's address.. I dragged and dropped the MLV file into the command line, and it filled its address for me:
/cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/M01-0547.MLV

Aggh, I typed just that and got-
MLV Dumper v1.0
-----------------

Mode of operation:
   - Input MLV file: '/cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/M01-0547.MLV'
   - Convert to DNG frames
   - Output into '/cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/M01-0547_frame_'
[ERROR] Failed to open file '/cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/M01-0547.MLV'

Its like the program can't seem to find this file, or any of the mlv files in this folder.. its strange-- I put all of the MLVs together in the same directory of the mlv_dump.

Thanks a lot! This got me started.

I'm trying to convert the last MLV to RAW (in order to process it further through rawanizer), I typed this into the command line:
/cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/mlv_dump.exe -r -o 0547.raw /cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/M01-0547.MLV

It then writes:

MLV Dumper v1.0
-----------------
Mode of operation:
   - Input MLV file: '/cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/M01-0547.MLV'
   - Convert to legacy RAW
   - Output into '0547.raw'
[ERROR] Failed to open file '/cygdrive/g/NAKED/card1/M01-0547.MLV'

Is there any reason for this? I'm quite sure I put in the right file name and address, is there something wrong with my syntax?

Thanks for the reply Moth,

If I understood you correctly, I have a chance  of recovering the last video through mlv_dump?
Well, I've tried downloading it and using it but am not 100% I am doing things right... do I drag and drop the mlv file to the mlv_dump exe? I'm not even sure where do I put all those console/written commands^
If you know any tutorial for it-I'd really appreciate it

Raw Video / Strange MLV issue on 5D-III
December 04, 2014, 04:22:35 AM
Hi guys,

Been testing the new MLV format and workflow on 5D-III 1.1.3. Am using the Feb-24 build, Lexar 64gb CF cards.

I use MLRAWVIEWEL 1.3.3 to view and convert my mlv files to .dngs. While shooting my videos, I notice that always the last file to be saved on the card (until it gets full) causes issues, and cannot be opened via MlRawViewer.
Also, the last video seems to generate many associated files (for instance M01-0547.M00, M01-0547.M01, M01-0547.M02.. and so forth, till .M08). It doesn't have .MRX file like the other MLVs on the card, and its associated WAV only weighs 1KB...

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!

Option A - Camera arrives with firmware 1.2.3)  Downgrade the camera to 1.1.3, install ML, use it, upgrade to 1.2.3, remove bootflag.

Option B - Camera arrives with firmware 1.1.3)  Install ML, use it, upgrade to 1.2.3, remove bootflag, downgrade to 1.1.3.

Brilliant! thanks a lot mate.

Hey there,

Been using my personal 5d MrkIII with ML for several months now and am so happy with it!

For an upcoming shoot, I intend to rent another MrkIII. My question is this: if I install ML for shooting RAW video on it, would it be possible to remove completely at the end of the day? (so I can return it to the store, and they can use a CF card with no ML installed on it - with no issues)

Thanks in advance!

There are two batteries in each cam. The big one and a small one. Removal of the small one is described here:
http://protogtech.com/cameras/canon-5d-mark-iii-clock-battery-location-removal/
Remove this one for at least half an hour. If cam doesn't come up again after reinserting and power up (again: No card inserted) you have to ask for a1ex' assistance unbricking your cam.

Ciao
Walter

Thanks Walter, this worked!

Tried to power up without any card inserted after removing/reinserting both batteries?

Hey Walter,
Thanks for the response!
Yes, it doesn't power up even without the card and after changing the battery (I don't have the extended grip).

Hey there,

Few months ago I installed ML on my MARK-III in order to shoot RAW video. Everything worked well until today, by mistake, I took out my 64gb LEXAR CF card and put a transcend 32gb card instead. The Transcend card has ML installed for my other camera, a 7D.
After I put the transcend card in the 5D, it simply won't turn on anymore.. I've tried putting back the original card, changing batteries etc', nothing works. Camera is simply dead. Am I in big trouble?

Thanks so much in advance for the helpers!
