Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon EOS R / RP
April 13, 2019, 11:49:05 PM
Hey all! I have a GH5 now so I've been out of the ML world for a while, but I'm glad you guys are still at it!

My business partner has an EOS R that he's said he's willing to run some tests on if that's helpful for y'all (and if the likelihood of bricking is reasonably low). If that would be helpful, just let me know!

Thanks! So I hate asking what are probably complete noob questions, but could you direct me to the documentation that would show me how to do that? I know some scripting, but I've not delved into the ML code at all, so I'm completely ignorant there.

Thanks so much!

Hey all! I searched for this, but couldn't find an answer, so I'm askin' it!

My ML build is getting on the old side (6 mo+), and so I downloaded the most recent nightly and was getting ready to install it when it dawned on me that that would mean re-customizing all of my settings. Is there a way that I can update without losing all of my settings?
Thanks!

I just got an iPad mini, and realized that I could use it as a monitor, but it looks like the last time DSLR Controller (BETA) was updated was summer of last year. Anyone know what happened, or if there's a new alternative now?
Thanks!

Has anyone else experienced any camera lock-ups? I don't think mine is related to ML, and actually doesn't even require that there be a card in the camera. but almost every time I pull my camera out of the bag now (it's gotten progressively more frequent over the last month), it will take one photo, and then hang, as if it's writing the image to the card. I've tried the newest versions of ML, no version of ML (factory reset), no card even, and it still always hangs. the LCD on top of the camera will flash "Busy" and if I switch the camera off, I get the blue disk saying that it's writing "1 image to card." But it never writes, and I eventually have to pull the battery to get it to reset. Any ideas?

Really? Huh, I wonder why it got pulled.
The two main features I'd like are individual gain control of L and R channels from an external mic, and the ability to monitor audio through the mini usb (via an adapter cable), both of which are features on my 60D's ML audio menu.
Is there a way that I can help with the advancement of the 6D's ML version? I know nothing about the coding, but I have the camera, and if there was a way that I could run tests for the developers, I'd be more than happy to do so.

Is there a particular reason why the 6D menu doesn't have an audio panel?

Hey all! I'm trying to figure out the best way to monitor external audio on my 6D.

My current setup is to pipe my Rode Videomic audio into my H4N, and then using the Sescom cable, attenuate that signal down to mic level for my camera (to avoid syncing in post), and give me a headphone jack.

But here's the complication, I'm not actually monitoring what my camera is recording, which I don't like, and I just realized that the 6D has a built in attenuator, so I could use a normal cable from H4N to the camera, but then I can't monitor audio. But I found out that Sescom makes a mini usb to 3.5mm adapter, so perhaps I could monitor audio directly out of my camera!?!
But ML doesn't have an audio menu on the 6D. Will this work?
This video shoes it working on a T4i or something, but it has the audio menu. http://www.dslrfilmnoob.com/2012/03/24/sescom-usb-3-5mm-headphone-monitoring-cable-video-review/

Hardware and Accessories / Re: DSLR Controller

I just got it working on my Nexus 7 (1st Gen)! It's hooked up to my 60D on a shoulder rig, and I'm using it for my viewfinder. I Chainfire's recommended cable, which is a LINDY micro USB to mini USB (read, no adapters!) and it works great! I haven't done much experimenting with it yet, but it looks promising! The only feature that seems to be lacking is focus peaking. I noticed a few people seem to have it working (or maybe I'm calling it by the wrong name), how do I enable it?

Hmm, Editing that looks pretty intimidating. I haven't done any of that sort of work, is there a guide on this subject?
30 minutes would make life a lot easier. I could live with that!

Howdy all!
I have two 60D's, and I mainly shoot events. As such, it would be really handy not to have a break in my footage every 12-15 minutes (even as is, ML is a life saver. Love auto restart!). I have a 64gb SDXC card, so technically it doesn't have the same 4gb file size limits of SD and SDHC, but I'm unable to record files greater than ~3.98GB.
I can't get Magic Lantern to load from my card when formated for exFat I've tried formatting my card for SDXC in Disc Utility (Mac), and then preparing it with Macboot, but it give me the "please check card and remove battery and try again" error when I run a firmware update.
Without Magic Lantern I can shoot onto the card while exFat formatted, but I still have the 4 GB size limit.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to somehow clear the bootflag? (Random guess).
Thanks!
