I have the same problem. All my 32 and 64GB cards work, but now 128GB is giving me "Update file cannot be found. Please check the memory card and reload the battery and try again. Did anyone find a solution?

So I was referred to this thread by the ML twitter to fix what appears to be corrupted RAW files. Anyone know if this works? I see that there are a ton of FFFFFFF hexs at the end of my file but also sporadic patches throughout the file. Fixing the end enables me to run through the process of converting and then to lightroom but it's just Digital pink noise in LR.

I was able to join .R00 and .RAW files together using Terminal. I was also able to extract DNGs by pasting footer using Hex Friend. But all my DNGs have pink noise now. Any ideas?

Can the camera record a reference .wav file while recording n RAW? Where in ML do I go to enable this function?

On the Mac, I think the workflow which still makes the most sense is to use something like Resolve to batch output to ProRes for editing. I think ProRes is fine for finishing too actually, if you export at ProRes 422HQ using a LOG type of look, you'll retain pretty much most of the visual information that you need. Most people who shoot on the ARRI Alexa shoot in ProRes and not raw and they seem to be just fine with the quality output, so once you process the image sequences into ProRes, I don't know if you need to go back to the DNG format for finishing.

But yeah, use Resolve for batch creating the ProRes files...it's a whole lot faster.

Thanks Midphase. Will the free version of DaVinci Resolve Lite batch output files to Pro Res?

@derkiki, I get this error every 5 minutes. What does it mean?

WHat does error lb2 mean?

Hey guys, I have a workflow question. After editing reference files in FCP7, how do you replace them with image sequences? Is that even possible? Until now I've been using QT7 to export image sequences into Pro Res, which takes a lot of time doing one by one. Trying to simplify this process. Please share...

Sorry, I don't know how you could recover those. That's why "Son of Batch" doesn't delete the originals.
Good luck

I recovered them. Switching to Son Of Batch anyway!

Never mind, got them back, switching to Son of Batch  :-\

It's alarming, that raw2dng deletes files at all!
Thus creating the worst of all cases imaginable! The loss of files!
I would consider this as a really dangerous bug!

By the way: Did you ever encounter something like this with RAWMagic?

I found my missing files! The were not deleted, but rather misplaced. The files ended up in /Volumes.
I explain it here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7778.msg68848#msg68848

Good bye raw2dmg, hello Son of Batch!  ;D

I got my files back!  8)

After noticing that I was running out of space on my MBP, I ran a cool free program GrandPerspective, which shows big files on your hard drive. I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw a bunch of RAW files in /Volumes, which is a hidden folder that Finder doesn't search in. To get there open Finder, click on Go, Go to folder, and enter /Volumes.

By the way, I couldn't find any way to receive email notifications about new posts here. How do you guys follow topics? I go to Profile, Summary, Show Posts, and then have to click on 10 different places where I posted messages before, just to see if anyone replied. Is there a better way?

Try this method.

Copy youre RAW files straight to your external from your CF card,

Start RAW2DNG, drag RAW2DNG into the application and when asked to set a working folder choose no.
Drag the RAW files from the external, this will create a folder for the dng's using the default path of the RAW files.

Yeah, I know. But right now, I'm still trying to recover files I lost :(((((

Were the files on an external drive?
The files were on the CF card 64GB 1000x

Is the app, and the files on different drives?
No

Was there a space in the folder name anywhere in the path to the files?
No

I was able to reproduce the situation : check out the video of the screen recording

Data rescue 3 on mac, add a file extension too it as RAW isnt deafult.

I tried, but it's not allowing me to. Take a look.

Also, I was able to recreate a situation where raw2dng deletes files without creating dmgs. Here is a screen recording https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10164102/raw.mov

Thanks dossisman.

Guys, raw2dmg just deleted my raw files and failed to create dmgs. Is there any way to recover the raw files?
#17
Hey Derkiki. You might know this. Is it possible to recover the RAW files that raw2dmg deletes? I should've used Son of Batch. I was going to. But I figured what's the point, when raw2dng works just fine. Well, guess what, sometimes it works, and other times it deletes raw files without creating dmgs first. Derkiki please let me know if there is any way to recover raw files.

raw2dng deleted my raw files without creating dmg files first. Does anyone know if it's possible to get the raw files back? HOW?????
#19
It just happened to me too. I am very upset!

When I start shooting RAW, the (white) resolution guide box goes away and comes back 10 seconds later. Is there a way to make it stay and not disappear as soon as REC is pressed?

ML = Magic Lantern, ML Menu = Magic Lantern Menu = press trash  :)

Thanks Doyle4. Is it in Focus Box Settings, where Snap Points should be set to: Center to x5 RAW?

Also, in ML menu make sure that centre framing mode is set to x5 mode :)

Where is this setting ML? I can't find it.

Here's a teaser for a music video I shot with my MarkII.  I used two 32GB Komputerbay x1000 cards, and they were great!

For post-processing I used fatpig's BATCHelor exclusively and it worked like a charm.  My workflow turned out pretty simple.  I'd edit with the Cineform proxies straight out of BATCHelor, then opened the timeline in After Effects, replaced footage with the DNG's, corrected, then applied FilmConvert.

Sounds interesting. What is a BATCHelor? I googled  it but nothing comes up.

Raw Video / Resulotion guide box
August 17, 2013, 02:15:29 AM
When preparing to shoot raw video on 5DM2 a guide box shows selected resolution. But as soon as I start recording, the box disappears. Is there a setting that can make it stay during recording?

Thanks Romainkedochim. 10 doesn't do it? Just 5x right?

Also, does anyone know if there a way to receive email notifications when people reply here?

And last thing, anyone can share an HDR timelapse workflow? Specifically, how do you use Adobe Bridge to automatically merge multiple HDR shots into 1?
