Is there a way to use the 5d markIII as a "pass through" device, recording the image on an external laptop even though the camera isn't recording? I've tried this in an attempt to bypass the 30 minute limit but the camera still shuts off after 30 minutes even though the camera isn't recording. Is there any firmware that prevents the live view from shutting itself off after 30 minutes? Overheating doesn't make sense because the lcd is off when the camera is plugged into an external capture device. Space also isn't the issue. I split the signal coming from the camera using an rca amplifier. One signal goes into the laptop for live recording and the other goes into an external sd card dvr. This process works great for about 30 minutes when the signal shuts off. I never push the record button on the camera. If there is anyway around this please let me know.
