For the post processing, I created a video on how I post process mine. It's brutal since I don't have those expensive video editors. I only use command line specifically ffmpeg tool.

Here is the video. I did my best to explain how I did it.

I wrote above that I didn't use ML due to the battery capacity limitation when using ML. Here are my settings though

ISO 400
10-12 seconds shutter time
number of seconds before it takes another shot - 1 sec
Tamron 11mm @ f2.8 lens
Cloudy for white balance since AWB will affect the color change. However, I changed the white balance in post processing

That's all I did
Thank you mitch_p2 and DeafEyeJedi! :)

I actually posted another one and it's longer. I cropped the pictures so we can see the lightning more closer. Check it out

My Canon 50D is also hacked with ML though I didn't use it this time because the battery only lasts for less than an hour. I used a device which I built. It also controls the motorized dolly where my 50D was mounted. Anyways, here are the pictures in timelapse format. I hope you'll enjoy it! :)

This was shot evening of July 17 here in McHenry County, IL. It took close to 2.5 hours and 742 pictures. I would love to find an open field here and do the same. Looks like my device is ready!

Though not ML since I couldn't find the compact flash that has ML, I just used an external intervalometer. It's a short timelapse.

That helped me a lot! :)

Here is another question, using Silent, can we combine it with long exposure or bulb mode? I'm planning to use it to create timelapse of stars or milky way.

Ok, will search it. Thanks folks!

Does ML have a feature where we can take pictures without having to increase the shutter count on a Canon 50D? If so, where can I find the instructions on how to do it?

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully someone can keep me up to speed. I've been away for a year now with my ML. I'd like to update my ML again. Is it still the same process, copy the ML firmware into our sd card, put it on our camera, boot it and install new ML firmware?

Also, which compact flash card would you recommend if I wanted to do raw recording?

I forgot, where can we download the latest stable firmware?

Please watch it in Original resolution. Choose Original which is above the 1080p selection. I brought out my controller outside and I'm glad the battery worked very well.

Later folks!

Still not done with it. I should start documenting it before I forget everything. :) Not sure when I will be able to start.
Yup! :) Need to play with iso and I guess I need to find a darker place.
Extremely happy with my first dynamic timelapse :)

Make sure you watch it in 1080p! :)

It's coming along very well. Extremely happy how it's going. :)

I'm still waiting for the Canon cable that I will connect to the shutter port. The led indicator is connected to the 4n35 which triggers the shutter at a very very very low voltage. Once I received cable, I will connect to that same chip.

I'll start building the slider tonight. :) Thanks!
It's still not complete but I should be able to complete it by mid October

Hi folks! Here is my BIG update! :D

I decided to build my own intervalometer instead. I've also incorporated the triggering of the shutter using an opto isolator. Here is a video taken few minutes ago :)

It's possible to trigger a stepper motor.
I believe there is no way to script with the actual ML version. You could fetch an older release.
But I think it's also nice to trigger the camera with other hardware, arduino with a little LCD for example like in the link above.

Wolf, this is so cool. However, my Canon 50D doesn't have any mic input. It doesn't have support for it.

Here is what I am going to do once I get home. I'll use a multimeter to test the 3 pins while I'm pressing down the shutter. If I see some voltage change, I can use that as a trigger. I'll keep you posted.

Hey guys,

Is there a way for our Canon camera to send out a signal to Arduino when a shot has been made? The reason I'm asking is because I would like to build a camera slider. Once the Arduino receives the signal, Arduino will execute a code that will move the stepper motor.

Another macro videography! This time, there was good light. ISO was at 200.
