And I'm sure recording 4K raw will never be possible longer than available RAM allows (several secs I guess) on 5dm4 with ML.

1080 60/120fps raw I am darn happy with it, otherwise i would stay on a7s or fs5 haha

how does the EOSHD C-Log compare to the free Clog? ;D

I just play with clog more today with the 6D.

is possible the picture style affect camera codec?
I just find out the clog is more better to hold up details than any other picture styles

I have been used 6D quite some time, I know in this scenes the h264 in camera codec would not hold up the details no matter what I do.
please have a look here is the normal result I normally get
cinestyle graded no post sharpness:

but now have a look for the clog no post sharpness!

here is the full pic if anyone want check the differences.
http://ph-production.com/tmp/cine.jpg
http://ph-production.com/tmp/clog.jpg

it look more more better for me.
I shoot both these shoot is using all same setting and the camera on tripod. just changing the picture style between shoot.

I will do more testing next week to see how the clog behave.
btw the clog default is 1 sharpness in camera setting and the cine is at 0, will the 1 step made the a such differences?
If the clog profile really affect the details, then thats why canon holding up so long and not easy giving it to any of thier camera including the 5d4 and 1dx2? :o

r3d format is probably patented or something like that, because it's also a compressed raw format.
So copying it, would be some sort of illegal I guess ;D
doh, I hope my programing skill is good enuff to do it myself and made a custom r3d for myself lol.

is there anyone tried the clog someone posted here not long ago?

just got my ass out yesterday to test the clog on 6D,
its very close to cinestyle, just slightly boost on saturation and slightly underexpose then cinestyle.
clog:

cinestyle:

(grade just apply default premiere Alexa_Default_LogC2Rec709 lut)

General Help Q&A / Re: camera dont start

some model still has limitation when running on ML.
I have been using 6D with ML. it will locked up randomly when using crop mode RAW.
as soon as you remove the battery fast and reboot then it will be fine.

not sure about the 700D tho, you have to experience abit then  :P

Quote from: reddeercity on September 01, 2016, 08:31:04 AMThe number 1 reason is basically the workflow
you can work with the raw native in FCPX , that's the workflow I always hope for in ML Raw video.
I wonder how hard if you reverse engine to r3d format and implant into mlv?
Is it posible? :o

Canon has taken inspiration from Magic Lantern:

Yea I also noticed, the way they did the HDR video just exactly same as ML did it.
wonder they just copy paste ML code into thier firmware lol.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the RED cameras at 4K a 1.73x CROP aka Super 35mm?  I checked out this tool, and it seems that the Canon 5D Mark IV 1.73x Crop is going to be the same as what a RED Camera is at 4K ... aka Super 35mm ...

http://www.red.com/tools/crop-factor

for super35 camera has huge advantage over the 5D4, coz you can use speedbooster to get 1 stop light and yuou will get back a closer full frame 35mm fov at the end.
for 5D4 you are doommed.

so sad for the 5d4 :(
most future just leaning back to still photo cameras (oh wait... DPraw is good? but you have to use DPP.... maybe wait untill adobe support it in lightroom?)
if ML wont be running on 5d4, I am done with canon going to full sony for sure.

canon just wanted the filmakers to buy their overpriced C line up
/cry for us low budget productions

to me, the video looks normal in h264 on these camera.
moire is pretty normal, unless you use 5d3.
hard to tell the noise, i dont not have an eos m.

resolution/sharpness wise it just the limitation for the crappy h264 codec canon put on these cameras.
try shoot some simple scenes with not too much detail in the frame and u will be fine.

any info about the HDMI output?
will it be a clean HDMI?

The result very nice man.

how do you get 60fps from the 6D raw?
Can you post which version ML u are using and workflow?

I couldnt get 1824 x 766 when under 60fps.
once I change the canon menu to 720p 60fps.
My ML raw resolution dropped to 1824 x 616 (need to strech the vertical resolution and resulting more moire... )

you need both SDI and HDMI in the same time?
then you are asking and very top high-end spec ;P good luck then~

if not the best is samsung UHD 4k monitor with HDMI USD322 + Blackmagic Mini Converters HDMI > SDK 4k USD 345

General Help Q&A / Re: Is my 7D Fried?
July 30, 2016, 05:16:33 PM
I had used ML on 550D 6D 5D2, none single of em has any issues.

would be nice if you state what steps that you did on your camera that leads to the unstable things.

even if you install ML, once you boot it without the card. its back to normal as it.
It shouldnt interference with the stock firmware.

Maybe you download a unstable 7D ML version somewhere else beside here?
#19
ah that make sense.
my 6d without vaf looks horibble most of the shoots haha
#20
very good work on the 6d raw!
did you use vaf-6d filter?

Hi , just a quick question. I'm looking to upgrade my 7D to a full frame such as a 6D (was going to go for a older 5D mkii), as I tend to shoot RAW videos in low light.

I haven't been able to find many RAW videos where the 6D is in 2K? Is the 6D able to shoot well in 2K or isn't its buffer quick enough.

Matt

If you want to shoot raw, dont get 6D like me. save up for 5d3.
raw @max resolution only like 8sec
and wait time inbetween shoots to clear the buffer.

I am so regret that I picked 6D for shooting wedding for raw. (it didnt works well at all)
btw shooting raw in high iso is not even a good ideal tho.

i believe resolve will use more gpu ram rather than the ram in ur system.
so better get a card with atlest 4gb ram.

caching only if you want a fast workflow, I use it whenever I am doing a SDE wedding only. (playing back realtime and redering using the exsisting cache save me alot time processing time.
If you dont do these stuff, i think u wont need a fast ssd~
#23
If you wana use resolve to be your main grading tools and want to be playback in realtime.
better invest a good graphic card(resolve is faster using a gpu then a cpu)

I am using a gtx970 for now with 7200rpm hdd.
has no problems playback 1080 with normal grading nodes. (for 4k timeline it wont playback in realtime)

caching is useless with a 7200rpm disc, it just too slow.
I used an ssd whenever i need caching.

thats my 2cents~

6D mostly?
very impresive editing, I cant see much moire in those highly detailed buildings!

thanks for sharing!
