General Help Q&A / h264.infi need explanation
July 26, 2013, 07:11:29 AM
Hello.
I would greatly appreciate any explanation on how to use h264.ini
Could not find anything at all.. only few mentions that that allows to control bitrate ..
And one example file:

Transform8x8Flag = 2
Profile = 100
Level = 41
BitRate = 10000000
EntropyCodingMode = 0
IntraPicInitQP = 28
InterPicInitQP = 28
QpOffsetForB = 0
MinQpI = 10
MinQpP = 10
MinQpB = 10
MaxQpI = 35
MaxQpP = 51
MaxQpB = 51
MinBitrate = 0
MaxBitrate = 0
SarWidth = 0
SarHeight = 0
AspectRatioIdc = 1
VideoFmtAndVspFlag = 81
VideoFullRangeFlag = 1
TimingInfoPresentFlag = 0
RateControlEnable = 2
ScalingMatrices = 0
pScalingMatrixAddr[0] = 0
pScalingMatrixAddr[1] = 0
pScalingMatrixAddr[2] = 0
pScalingMatrixAddr[3] = 0
pScalingMatrixAddr[4] = 0
pScalingMatrixAddr[5] = 0

But which settings are for what?
Which bitrate can be safely put on mark3 with fast lexar cards?
ANy place to read about this?

Thanks a lot in advance

 I got your point.. but this feature was developed.. why not just make the option to enable that back again?
Any sound with video makes live much easier.. even out of synch sound.Thanks

+1/
Is ther any chance to make the option to select where to show this technical info? For example, the option to select to show it in top left or bottom left corner.. It would be easier in many situations to have it on bottom of the lcd screen .

Another thing is that font could be much smaller too.
Thanks!

Well, not really.. If we are on set.. and record 150 takes a day one by one.. beep would not help a lot. It gives a synch point, but does not shows which particular take it is. So clapper is still needed to show which take is on video and audio.

Plus rough audio allows for many other useful things to do. I, for example, mark good takes with voice etc. It allows much faster take selection too.

So the question is to make it record the sound the same way it was - sepparate on sd card. THe thing is that audio option is there in FPS override menu ^) Just does not work as it was.

For me, it makes so big difference that I have to move to much older version of ML for the real project to make it work with sound.

Rough sound and no sound leads to absolutely different project logistics.

THanks

Hello!
Thanks for all your hard work!! That is all very appreciated.

One thing that hit me on set of the real project was the fact that 2 lines of text of raw rec ( speed, frames, filename) on the top left corner cover my hero's face in many situations. THey are long and cover valuable place.

Is ther any chance to make the option to select where to show this technical info? For example, the option to select to show it in top left or bottom left corner.. It would be easier in many situations to have it on bottom of the lcd screen .

Another thing is that font could be much smaller too.
Thanks!

But there is a sound recording option in FPS override menu - which is a weird place for that.. but it is there.

The thing is that out of synch sound allows to work without clapper.. no sound at all requires old school clapper on set with extra person etc. Much more complicated workflow process.

Plus.. as I mentioned before in other topic.. it does synch when you shoot raw in 24 fps and then conform it to as 25 fps.. sound gets back in synch.

So even as a reference , sound would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Sound used to be in Raw module setup for sometime .. and then moved to Frame rate override. Just tried today with July 17th version of firmware - with enabled override and enabled sound recording with External WAV setting SOUND IS NOT RECORDED at all! It is neither on CF nor on SD card.

Please, make it work back again
thanks!

I do not think rendering 25 at 24 is a solution.. it is often gives artifacts as frames are changed. It would be better to fix this bug in Lantern itself.. ]

Hello,
There seem to be a bug.. even few. .. correct me if I am wrong

1) When camera has 24 fps set... lantern does record as 25fps.FPS ovveride is off.

I have found this issue with a help of the sound. So here how to test: Enable sound recording.. put camera to 24 fps and record raw with sound when somebody is speaking, so that the lips are visible in the frame. At least for 10 seconds or so.
Now take video as 23,976 and put sound .. and you will see that is synchs at the begining and then fails more and more to the end.

IF I take and conform video as 25 fps.. and put it with the same sound.. everything synchs perfectly for the whole length of the clip.
Seems like a bug ,no?

2) Weird stuff.. but when SD with lantern in on and loaded.. And I start to record regular h264.. it records only about 30 seconds and then load buffer icon appears and it stops... That is with 1000x  Lexar card.. Then I remove lantern SD and start usual h264 record and everything goes smooth as always. Any idea why? Seems like lantern is setting much higher bitrate for h264.. but where can this be checked and tested?

Wow! thanks , after installing 1.04 it finally worked for me :)
Pritty amazing ..thanks

Question .when I put the file in premiere.. it plays. now I want to change raw parameters.. I right click on the file, select Source Settings.. and Go Pro studio opens. I can do differnt changes there.. but the only way out is to convert to mp4 . Is this so or I can get those settings to Premiere without recoding to mp4? thanks!!!!

OOPS got it solved :) it just updates the video within few seconds on the timeline!once again, thanks!

It seems like my issue is the same or close to fatpig.. as my win7 x64 in with Russian interface..

A new version of the CineForm decoder that addresses crashing problems within Adobe products (and possibly Resolve) can be downloaded from here:

http://software.gopro.com/PC/new_CFHDEncoder.zip
Thanks
But did not help :( The soft crashes the same way as before.. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated

Hello!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated..
The software has created the files fantastically quickly - both .avi and .mov versions
But both Resolve and Adobe AE and Premiere die right after they open the file.. I can see the first frame and software dies.
Both Resolve and Adobe die in the same way.. so looks like codec issue. I have updated Quicktime tothe latest, reinstalled Go Pro cineform studio.. nothing helps..

Any ideas what could it be?
