I'm running Resolve 10 on a new iMac 27" i7 with Nvidia Geforce GTX 780m with 4GB vRam, and its blazing fast. I'm rendering out ProRes 4444 between 30-35fps.  Plus, Resolve 10 has improved the debayering of the Raw files and added sharpening to camera Raw that is much more subtle then the regular blur/sharpening pane. Finally can use the Resolve workflow instead of wasting hours of rendering out in After Effects.

Davinci Resolve is the fastest way to convert dng to ProRes. I'm getting anywhere from 35-50fps rendering depending on what flavour of ProRes.
#3
How can you set it up so that it recognizes the camera, instead of embedded canikon?
#4
so it doesn't work with Rawmagic?  how do you update raw2dng settings to recognize your camera?
#5
I tried converting with raw2dng .13 and rawmagic and neither worked.

Ive just updated my ACR to 8.2 and visionlog profile has vanished from where it used to be :(.  Any thloughts on geting it back? Kindda hard to be without it once you had it. Good job btw, makes us feel like with mini Alexas  ;D.
Cheers!

I'm also running 8.2 and not working.

When I import dngs converted with Rawmagic I can only see the Canon picture profiles, no visionLog.  I put the folder in Camera Profiles. The thing I noticed is that the profiles already there are document dcp files, while the visionLog are Unix Executable File dcp. Is this whats causing the problem? I'm on a mac.

put the Vision log in the camera profiles folder, but only get embedded as option in ACR. What am I doing wrong? Im on a mac.

I too am getting more hot/dead pixels after importing into Resolve. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update.
#10
I recently switched my workflow from After Effects(ACR) to Davinci Resolve 10.  The speed of rendering proxies and the ability to relink and grade the Raw files in Resolve is so much more practical and powerful. What is your preference and why?

It crashes resolve every time I try to import clip. Anybody else have this problem?

Does Prores support 12bit, sorry I only know of 8 and 10bit.

from Apple white papers:
ProRes 4444:
The Apple
ProRes 4444 codec preserves motion image sequences
originating in either 4:4:4 RGB or 4:4:4 Y'CBCR
color spaces. With a remarkably low data
rate (as compared to uncompressed 4:4:4 HD), Apple
ProRes 4444 supports 12-bit pixel
depth with an optional, mathematically lossless alpha channel for true 4:4:4:4 support.
Apple ProRes 4444 preserves visual quality at the same high level as Apple
ProRes 422
(HQ), but for 4:4:4 image sources, which can carry the highest possible color detail.

So what advantages does rec709 have over sRGB?

So rendering out ProRes 4444 from the 14bit Raw files will be 12bit and display 8bit sRGB on monitor?

Since my iMac does not support rec709, and is set to sRGB, shouldn't I just go with sRGB as the After Effects working space? This would make sure that the images match. Also, if going with rec709 or sRGB, doesn't this make my Raw 14bit only 8bit, even though I'm rendering out to ProRes 4444 12bit.  I guess all I would like to know is what settings to use to get the absolute highest quality out of AE for color grading the ProRes 4444.  Thanks in advance.

After choosing rec709, should I also go with linear working space?

Isn't rec709 for HDTV?  What color space is used if none is chosen?

Raw Video / Working space in After Effects

When setting up my project for 5d3 Raw I choose 32bpc and the working space is set to none. Should I change that to one of the other options?(Adobe RGB, Apple RGB, sRGB etc...)  I'm on a Mac using AE CC, rendering out to ProRes 4444 for FCPX.  Thanks.
#20
I export 59.94 from AE and just use Cinema Tools to batch conform to 23.976. Or, import 59.94 into a 23.976 timeline in FCPX and conform to 23.976.  But this is for FCP/Mac users, don't no what apps you have.
#21
wouldn't it be better to use NR in ACR before exporting, so you have a clean ProRes 4444 mov?

How can I disable ProRes 4444 from converting in raw2dng 0.13?  all I want is the raw files.

Raw Video / 5D3 Raw 4:2:2 or 4:4:4?

Is the 14bit Raw outputting 422 or 444 color?  Any benefits to render out the dng sequence to ProRes 4444?
