And here's how I'll fix it. I'll merge the full-res silent picture branch next week, and I'll break all the nightly builds for which I don't have a raw_diag screenshot.

in case you are not following along rrrmusic

Nice feature addition dmilligan.  I could see this getting a lot of use. I and many others I'm sure will be looking forward to this.

Will do.

Since it's the next big thing, we'll wait for full res silent pics to hit the nightlies next week as mentioned then we can do a recap/update.

ps. this new installer you mention ... the .fir is in the 5d3 download but there is none in the 60D download for the record.
#4
hey sdesign is you raw video set to 'off' ?
#5
Just wanted to add:  I was getting err 70 & raw file error message because I had raw video enabled (on) in the ML menu.  Once I turned this off everything worked as previously mentioned.

Hey dmilligan if you compile this for the 60D I would be happy to test this out...you know...for the good of the people.

unless of course this silent.mo is for the 60D...I'll check it out

Great! module works on 60D. I'll test the 4GB file split.

Thanks dmilligan.

iiiiiiiiiiITS READY...

Seriously thank you A1ex and especially dmilligan for showing the 60D some love

SRM. It's in the nightly people...

60D    1728x736 2.35:1  24fps 254 frames @ 10 seconds
          1728x972 16x9    24fps 170 frames @ 6 seconds
no more switching to s2 jpeg and then forgetting to switch back to raw.

Honestly 10 seconds has been my dream for about what 2.5/3 years now.

That's bloody spectacular
thank you, thank you, thank you all.

Also read into it what you will but that cheeky devil said "that's all for now". I can't help but to be optimistic but if this is the final tweak I'm still super happy with 10 secs.

Ahh.  Well this is interesting I'm going to have to check it out when it comes down the pipe.  If only I had known this feature existed previously dang it!

I see now... I got turned around I was referring to the full res silent pictures development.
referencing this: "RAW_PHOTO_EDMAC needs to be changed on all cameras (see these comments in raw.c)"

I'll repost accordingly.

RIDICULOUS!!!

Between rolling shutter adjustments and SRM it's like Christmas again. :'(

Once this is in the nightly will we be able to use it on the 60D?
I only ask because of this previous comment "RAW_PHOTO_EDMAC needs to be changed on all cameras (see these comments in raw.c)"

Thanks for that dmilligan (didn't even think legacy raw_rec mo was even used or supported anymore.)

After the bots do their thing I'll def try this out.

Glad you asked Rewind, glad to see I'm not the only old school raw_rec mo around here!

wow. I've always thought 10 secs would do for most cases but that 21 secs at 720p is sooo appealing.

And this is exactly what I meant .. why on earth would you be getting more frames (505) fine tuning things I suppose? This is great news.

Thank you for keeping us posted

If you know how much memory is available, you can calculate it yourself, the 60d can write 21MB/s to the SD card, the rest is buffered into the available memory.
Now the resolution you ask for,  takes up, 1728 x 736 x 24(frames/second) x 14(14bit canon raw) / 8 (conversion bits to bytes) /1000000(conversion bytes to MegaBytes) = 53,4 MB/second
1728*736*p24 resolution takes up 53,4 MB/second

I'm not sure how much free memory the 60d has, my guess is about 350MB now ?

That would make 53,4MB/second - 21MB/second(SD card writing speed in canon 60d) = 32,4MB/second that needs to be buffered every second.
350MB / 32,4MB = 11 Seconds of raw video

And after you filled up this memory, it takes up to 350MB/21MB = 17 seconds time to clear/write the complete filled up buffer to the SD card.

Thanks for that Levas.  I have found that the numbers often don't translate as black and white as that (considering unknown factors at this stage) but at least it gives me something to dream about.

Hey dmilligan, if you ever get the opportunity I would be very interested to know how many frames you are getting at

1728x736 p24 2.35

This of course is not a priority just if you get the opportunity...let us know.

nice dmilligan

I'm still using raw_rec mo believe it or not as audio was not a priority for me (on camera that is) but I think you're going to force me over to mlv at this rate. lol.

love watching this develop! - that 20 sec at 1280 may be my new format. that's great.

Wow. Thanks for posting this here dmilligan. It would be so great if ML can pull yet another rabbit out of the 60D.

If I understand it correctly an additional 186 Mb could effectively DOUBLE our recording time right?. Whoa fingers crossed and waiting patiently on this one!

60D For Life...Until the 7D2 comes out then it becomes a great B cam.

Posted this in the video section but just in case you missed it.

Squeezing the last bit out of my 60D until the 7D2 arrives.  ;)
For me Magic Lantern has enabled me to do so much more with my existing hardware. The video could do with a little polish but still very happy with the results.

Shot with:
Canon 60D
60mm EF-S Macro (I know, right)  8)
2 23watt LED lights & 1 15watt
Zoom H4N off camera audio
Cheap tripod (this was my weak link)

Of course then the wait will be on until the ML Team comes out with something for the 7D2.

BTW. What are you guys using to stabilize macro shots. I had a heck of a time!

Also any tips to help me improve is most welcome.

as long as you don't get rid of raw_rec completely!

the 175 frames are just too good to give up.  Not just the quality but the useability of the raw video is just fantastic.

Ok, here is a new version of ML for 60D

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-HdscXfsKpgeWFDTHBNMnhfcEE/edit?usp=sharing

New options (thanks to 5DMKII users):
- enable/disable global draw during raw recording
- enable/disable recording frame (black bars) during raw recording

I have no access to my 60D today so please let me know if it works :)

Thanks again Marekk!

I haven't been here for a while and I was using the third build (I think). Does the last build offer any longer recording times? Dead pixel things don't bother me because my 60D does not seem to have any (at least I don't see them). Thanks!

I'm using hourly build _16-00  with no major problems.

Not longer recording times just more features.  Although I'm hopeful...longer recording times have not looked possible for us SD guys from the very beginning.
