Changing picture quality in the canon menu from RAW to JPEG (L/M/S) will give you a bigger shoot_malloc buffer. 276MB instead of 180MB.

Nice, thanks. That helped significantly. Now I'm getting 326 frames at 720p compared to 187 before.

I rebuilt from the latest nightly and some more tests. Again with SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB 95/mb.

944x524 | 4604 Frames
1280x720 | 187 Frames
1720x860 | 88 Frames
1720x968 | 68 Frames

Anything above 1720x968 and I get parsing errors in Camera Raw CS6. But the files are not empty.. (3.5mb) so I'm not sure why it's doing that?

I have a question: How big is the 60D's buffer? Could anybody please tell me? :)

(You can find it in "Debug" menu: "Free Memory" -> Hit "Q" -> "shoot_malloc total" is what you're looking for)

The menu exists for me, my shoot_malloc total says 180 M.

Very exciting! My stats all with Sandisk Extreme Pro 95/mb 32gb:

944x524: 1290 Frames(!!!!)
1264x704: 166 Frames
1716x960: 68 Frames

I can't seem to open the DNG's from the 1716x960 ones though, Camera Raw says "file-format module cannot parse the file" but only for 1716x960.

Has anyone tried the "HaCKeD mode" option?

I've also just noticed that the 720p frames have actually been squeezed & when unsqueezed produce the same image as those frames taken in 1080p.

The stretching happens to me as well when I set the mode in the Canon menu to 720p. Except my resolutions are a couple pixels off (it produces files that are 1734x694). I was able to get 73 frames consistently. I had one magenta artifact for a single frame in addition to the aliasing from the stretching.

Just chiming in to share a sequence of shots from my 60D using the DNG burst from the last nightly - I got 45 frames consistently at 1734x1156 (card is Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB 95mb/s). No artifacts, color seems fine, and the quality is unbelievable.

Awesome work to all involved and looking forward to updates :D
