Tragic Lantern / Re: Tragic Lantern for EOS M
August 06, 2013, 06:12:47 AM
Shooting at 1280 x 720 25fps what would be the max card speed needed by EOS-M? I think many EOS-M users would be happy with 1280x720P if that's at all possible. If 20 MB/s is the fastest the EOS-M is capable of what is max video resolution we can get from that?

Did some video test shoots with my FD-EOSM adapter using an FD 85-300mm and Canon standard FD 50 1.8. I'm really impressed with this mirrorless camera. With ML install on the EOSM I'll be walking on the clouds.

Found the link to the newer versions in post #507. Awesome!

Where exactly is the "newer version"? Are you talking about the EOS-M?

Ive searched the forum and the rest of the internet for how to capture HDR-video with the Eos M, without any result.
If someone could reveal this well hidden secret, I would be a very happy man.

You'll see there is no stable release for the EOS-M. The latest Canon firmware 2.0.2 is installed with all new EOS-M sold so there's no Alpha build for it at the moment. I really like the HDR video feature as well as intervelometer function on my Canon 60D. I'm waiting with baited breath for the ML for the EOS-M ::)

120 days since any reports/replies on the EOS-M camera. Just installed Canon' new 2.0.2 firmware and the focusing has definitely improved. Everything else is still the same.

Sorry, I'm running on low ISO but I still can't see where the ML is for the EOS-M.

I'm about to buy the EOS-M but only if ML can run on it and I can't find the download file for it. The standard 2.3 download XIP file doesn't have the FIR for EOS-M inside.

Feature Requests / Re: Timelapse Calculator

It certainly is sir  ::)

I never realized it changed when input values were changed  :-[

Thank you.

It would be nice to have a calculator for time-lapses. I can calculate it on my phone, but it would be nice if was on the camera.

e.g. If I want a 2 minute video, PAL 25 frames per second, of a 2 & half hour sunset how many images and at what interval would I need. e.g. If I wanted a 3x bracketed images for an HDR time-lapse? I could multiply it by 3 but a basic calculator would be real handy

General Help Q&A / Re: RAW and JPG sizes
August 14, 2012, 07:30:43 AM
On my 18MP 60D I can set the aspect ratio when shooting JPG. In RAW I can't. RAW shoots full APS-C sensor size thats why the photos sizes are larger. If I set aspect ratio to 16x9 in JPG mode which is then equivelent to 15MP the photo are smaller than RAW.

I can set aspect ratio to 1:1 in JPG mode and haven't compared this to RAW yet.

General Help Q&A / Re: Quickly taking HDR brackets?
August 10, 2012, 07:49:14 AM
Paul, in your golf shot did you capture the ball in the other shots as well?

I also noticed that ML's 3x was slower than Canon's 3x bracketing. I did try 9x and found that the camera went out of range anyway unless you use ISO shifting. Usually 5x is ample for me.

For handheld bracketing you really need a steady hand even at only 3 shots irrespective of shutter exposure keeping in mind scene changes even slightly will ruin the end result. Photomatix does well to remove ghosting but still........

Where ML is great for me is HDR timelapse bracketing 3x exposure shift at 1.5. The intervelometer is a real beauty for me.

Feature Requests / Re: Audio triggers only the flash

I was requesting ML to trigger the flash in BULB mode when a sound is emitted. No focusing or exposure settings is required.

Feature Requests / Audio triggers only the flash
July 31, 2012, 04:14:09 PM
Years ago i built a simple trigger unit that could capture a baloon popping. The method was to leave the shutter open (BULB mode) in a completly dark room. Then connect the unit to the flash and not to the camera. Then when the baloon bursts, the sound triggers the unit which triggers the flash which captures that frozen moment.

Could this handy feature be added to ML? :-[

Very effective and nicely done. Shutter speed 1/8 ?? How come the car in front is in focus and not blurred?

General Help Q&A / Re: What is Magic Lantern ?
July 25, 2012, 10:18:08 PM
Hello Petrus and welcome to the forum.

The first step is to do some research on ML. You'll find that a lot of people put a lot time and effort into creating ML and once you start using ML you'll feel guilty for NOT donating at least something towards their effort. So it's not free, it's just that you haven't paid for it yet  ::)

Think of it this way, you have an ordinary camera which you can turbo charge by installing Magic Lantern.

So, is your 60D up and running then? I hate seeing a wounded 60D  :-[

The time contraints depend on what file system you format the card.
FAT16
FAT32
NTFS
Can the Canon M read NTFS or extended FAT32?
#19
I've just read the awesome specs of the Canon EOS M mirrorless camera. It's specs are so close to the 60D/650D. It would be fantastic if ML could push the framerate up since there's no mirror flapping about.

What is the recommended picture size to post. Thumbnails are hardly big enough to see.

Also posters should state how ML benefitted them or what ML feature they used to achieve the desired effect otherwise it may just be another Photoshopped image.
#21
I'm not using all the features of ML mainly because I'm not sure sure what everything does. I'd like to contribute to Wiki pages on features I'v tried.

What I meant by glossary is for example what is "Magic Zoom" and when will I need it and what will it do for me? But i guess someone will write a Wiki information document soon.

Forum and Website / Request a Glossary of features
July 16, 2012, 01:26:00 PM
I know there is a downloadable User Guide but I still think it would be really helpful if there was a Glossary of ML features and terminology somewhere on this site.
#23
I tried that and it works great. Thanks for the tips.

I have been playing with RemoteShot and would like it to take rapid sequence of X amount of shots in stead of 1.
