Actually, make that my first wedding video period.

It was a pretty big gamble shooting RAW for such an important event, but I took the risk, and I think the payoff was worth it. It also helped that my client was a family friend and was willing to let me try it out despite the risks, but I did have a backup camera (Canon T2i) just in case.

Not 100% of the shots are RAW, but I'd say about 80% of the clips. The clips with audio were not shot on RAW as I didn't have a dedicated audio recorder at the time, and the reception clips towards the end weren't RAW because I actually ran out of memory on my CF cards, so I had to shoot with the SD cards. I think another 64 GB CF card would have been enough to shoot the entire day in RAW.

I ended up with about 190 GBs of RAW footage on my CF cards (Komputer Bay 128 GB 1050x and 64 GB 1000x).

Lenses used: Canon 24-105mm L and Sigma 50mm f/1.4

Well, just wanted to update you guys on my KomputerBay 64GB 1000x

I ordered it May 20th, and it worked pretty well, I got some decent speeds, but it was somewhat inconsistent (on some occasions, I'd get a dropped frame here and there when recording RAW 1920x1080 24fps)

But about 3 days ago, my card just completely failed on me while I was shooting at the aquarium, just shooting normal pictures. Didn't even have a SD card in, let alone Magic Lantern. It was working perfectly throughout the day, then just randomly when I went to take a picture, it said my card couldn't be read and it had to be formatted. I've tried 13 different recovery programs to try to recover my pictures from the weekend, but sadly it's not readable by anything.

I purchased it off eBay, and I just contacted them regarding their warranty and see if I can get a replacement.

Hi,

I'm not sure what the issue is, but everytime I try to record audio, I end up with a WAV file that always shows up as being 12:25:39 long, and when I try to play it, there's no audio, and quickly stops playing.

I've tried all the combinations, am I doing something wrong?

I'm currently running the May 28th build, as when I tried the latest build, June 8th, I'm getting skipped frames. May 28th seems to be running smoother and more stable for me.

Thanks

Why would you send that card back? My 64GB 1000x Lexar is slower than what you posted. That should be plenty of speed to shoot continuous 1920 x 1080. I have no issues at 1920 x 1080 with my slower performing card so I'm not sure what's going on with yours.

Interesting, I'm not quite sure how the W/R speed compared to the performance of other cards, but I guess I was disappointed that I'm not able to shoot continuous 1920x1080. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I have GlobalDraw turned off and I've been trying to find the optimal settings, but after about 135 frames, there's just a crazy amount of frame skipping. There are instances where I get frame skips right when I start recording, at frame 36 or some, and it just gets worse after that.

EDIT: Well I figured that out pretty quickly. I knew I was missing something, and I forgot to turn on the FPS optimization for 24 fps. I successfully recorded without any frame skips, thanks for pushing me in the right direction Jason!

I just got my Komputerbay 64 GB and I figured I might as well post my benchmarks as well.

I'm pretty disappointed, I can only record 1920 x 1080 for about 135 frames until I get frame skipping.

I got it on eBay if it makes a difference.

I'm considering returning the card. Any suggestions on whether I should grab another Komputerbay or opt for a Lexar 1000x? Or perhaps another alternative?

Thanks for that sample, that's still a significant improvement over the standard Canon image.

Once I get my card here later in the week, I'll host some clips for people to experiment with, if no one's uploaded any yet.

I'm not sure why this isn't getting any more hype!

I have yet to see any samples, does anyone have any they would be able to take so I can play with the workflow before I try the build?

I'm still awaiting my 1000x CF card to ship before I can try this out, but I'm dying to see it and use it in action
