I think You can't edit more than the first image in a raw sequence with CR filter in AE. It just loads it as a sequence and adds that correction to each frame - unless You already have a XMP setting for each. To create one - You can open them in PS - just select a group or all and drop them in PS. Then in the Camera RAW there you can edit groups (by selecting several frames) or individual frames (khm-khm) and when youre ok with the corrections - click (DONE). This will create XMP file for each individual RAW file. Then when editing this RAW sequence in AE it will respect each individual frame XMP file. Still if You don't have a XMP for some - the settings made for the first frame will be applied.

Had fun time to play with some very strange set of lenses and res chart shooting :-)
It's all about 3x (displayed as 5X) shooting versus 1X and moire.
For me there the main thing is that the color moire is much less in 3X.
Yet You need to consider the choice of lenses carefuly.
In critical situation this can give You a slight edge though...
Still for the one I used - a nikon mount Sigma 10-20 it is always closed at F22 when unmounted, so I had some more manual tweaking the lens with cardboard to keep it open :-)

If anyone can reproduce this kind of corrupted frames, please let me know: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5763

(I might have a fix)

Have You tried 1920x1080 with fixed framerate to 23,97 @ crop mode 10x? I just bumped on this issue yesterday doing some tests. It record MLV @ 5x with no problem. And on my test @ 10x it gave me a completely unusuable sequence - most of the video was a mess. I deleted it, but I can make another test if You can't reproduce it.

Just to add - Your work is amazing! I feel like entering a toy store each time I call the ML menu :-)

In crop mode You can use even the cheapest lenses which suits You - zoom or prime. Just remember that when You shoot at resolution close to FullHD You should multiply the lens by 3 (for example 10 mm lens = 35 mm lens on Full Frame).

The crop of 21 MP equivalent to APS-C sensor is around 8MP, so most lenses have that resolution covered well. Since You the center part of the frame it's about 1/2 of it - so You are using the sharpest part of the lenses - that's why almost ANY EF-S lens will do.

You should consider more the focus and zoom ring and stabilization more than the glass (my personal opinion).

But I guess You could just walk into a photo store and test few lenses in crop mode and decide which one will work for You!

Here is a small explanation of sizes and moire I did.
The red rectangle s the frame when You shoot in Full Frame, the green one is when You shoot in zoom (crop) mode.

Thank You for the hard work a.d. !

Since the addition of the hack will go to the nightly build could You please add the link to them in the first post also, because I really like this thread much more than the general one :-)

Wish You more extremely well paid work, so You could have more free time for the development!

Played with build from 08/16 - on Transcend 16GB the speed was like previous build.
Still have to learn how to handle this one as a movie camera :-)
Sorry for the focus pulls and shaking image. Still - I really enjoy the sharp and tonal richness of the RAW video - AWESOME WORK guys!

@Scipione205
In fact I did some tests in 5x vs 1x mode, and the moire in 5x is less.
There are some factors to is - while in 5x mode You record EACH following line, in 1X mode You record each 5th line - still the four lines You skip are scanned meanwhile, so the lag is more and the moire is more pronounced. You can skip moire if You keep the focus at the edge - if it's ok for You to sharpen in post, but You will loose fine texture as well.
The explanation from @guentergunter is just wonderful, and if You haven't checked the pictures I can just say that even 1600x800 I use to shoot scales and looks extremly well on a FullHD plasma. Jus keep the color and dynamic well balanced and the CMOS clean - and forget about resolution!

Is it possible to shoot continuous 1920 x 800 @23.976 fps ? I read on the main topic about 1880x840 at 24 fps so I thought that [email protected] will be possible.

The resolution You mention is not an option. However a 1920x084 can be set in ZOOM mode - 5X.
The closest at 1X is 1880x786 - which also is normal to use.

What to use is up to You. I think that the scaled picture is just as good + the benefit of using the lens at normal 1x ratio.

Both are giving me continius - with Transcend 1000x 16GB card - first is 62Mb/s the second is lower.

Images are in the spoiler

First is the scaled 1880 image:

And then little cropped 1920 image:

There is written 35mm - but in fact it's 24mm - I made the first test with 35 but the zoom didn't matched - 35mm at 5x is closer to 100mm.

Here is my extract on 5x vs 1x - I think there is much less color moire at 5x mode - shot with 24 mm lens. The normal moire is visible in both shots, and unless we have 3 cmos or foveon it will be there.

VAF filter @ 5X is not good, because it's meaning is to blur the image to a level that the same portion of the image (pixel) is covering several horizontal lines - so the are even in color - kind of bluring them toghether. So at 5x it will do more harm then good.

Test the moire with 1X and 5X modes. For me there is less "bad/false color" moiree on the 5x mode. Still some bayer moire is present, but I think that is something that is hard to pass unless You shoot with foveon or 3CCD setup.

I expected the 5x to require 20mm lens against 100mm at 1x, but in fact it ended with 35mm very close to 100mm - shot from tripod.

I did some successful recovery of files, but sometimes it extract only some frames.
I think that if someone more advanced that could explain which filed in the footer correspond to resolution, speed and frames that could restore a lot of work. I use HxD as a hex edit, but that might not be of importance. I also might be doing something wrong, because I'm just adding the footer to the file. I usually shoot short several frames before each session and then start the real shoot.
With a slower 2GB SanDisk I constantly hit a limit of 670MB - even when I set skip frames and lower the stream to lesss than 20MB/sec (that's with the 19th may build).

Just shoot a small - 4-5 frames file at the same resolution, then make a cmd copy (if at windows) from the prompt go to the directory and do > copy file1(4gb) /B + file2(fewframes) /B testfile /B
/B - indicates binary read and write. Then try to process testfile with raw2dng. Hope it helps!

Don't know if in the latest nightbuild there's something useful!

I'm somehow missing the "M" menu in the nightbuilds... Is it just because of me or there is something not generally implemented?

And another thing - It seems that when I do 4 recordings and then exit the session - only the last one is something that I can process with raw2dng - others are giving me: This ain't a lv_rec RAW ... Should I fix each file by adding the footer of the last one to them?

edit: after copying the last 10 raws from the last file to the previous batch, they are processed normally, but then there is a strange thing. All my testas came out greenish... Will keep testing.

Amazing work guys! Crossing fingers and hunting bugs, hoping that could help.

My first test - used 8 fps 2048x960 which gave me the bitrate of little under 30MB/s wihch is the  maximum of my card. Need to get a faster one soon! Amazing detail - shot at 5X with 100mm. I think that the magenta at the end is from uncomplete write (frame), so the frame skipping should be checked - it happens more often when I get closer to 30MB/s and almost disapear when I get under 20MB/s.
