Yeah, it's from 0:20-0:40, the rest is Sony FS700. No Gopro.

This is my current sports showreel, I wonder if you can guess which shots are filmed with the 5D mark 3 in raw. It's kinda difficult, because there are also some FS700 Raw shots  ;)

QuoteYou don't want to share a preset from your color grading for we try it?   :D

you can download it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zr4tq35segc9mrs/davinci%20export.rar

I don't know if it helps you, as it probably only looks good on footage with a certain kind of color-style. Especially the 3rd node, because it precisely targets the red color of the hoodie.
Here's what the 3 nodes do:

1. Basic contrast enhancement from the very flat BMD Film color space
I then exported proxies with plans to do further color grading after editing. While editing I already played a little with RGB Curves in Premiere and got to a look that I generally liked, but there were some weird color transitions in the highlights so I decided to go back to Resolve hoping that I can do better with it. So after editing I did this:

2. I pulled the gamma to the blue side and the gain a bit to the warm side and gave it a more contrasty curve.

3. Pushed the brightness and saturation of the red hoodie a bit.

Maybe you can use some of it ;-)

QuoteDid you use glidecam for all lenses or only with one ? How long does it take to rebalance hd-2000 after changing lenses ?

I used it with all lenses, I think it takes me about 5 min. to rebalance, but that's an estimate, I never measured the time ;-)

good video, you can tell that Raw made a difference in the colors! Also the image is really sharp

I don't have a remote follow focus or anything like that, so when using the telephoto lens I have to be really careful about the distance. With the wide angle it's not so critical. You could of course use the ML rack focus if you need to refocus. I only have the handheld glidecam, as I rarely do shots that are longer than 1-2 min. and it's ok for me to hold it with my hand for that time. I rented an arm/vest once when I had to do repeated 3,5 min shots which wouldn't have been possible handheld. In my experience the arm/vest doesn't give you extra stability but helps with carrying the weight.

No extra lights were used.

Thank you all for your nice feedback!

I filmed this on my Glidecam HD-2000 (which is really great), and the lenses I used were:

Canon 70-200 f4 IS
Canon 17-40 f4
Sigma 12-24 f4.5-5.6 (for the sitting tricks)

Share Your Videos / RAW really helped me on this video

I shot this with my mark 3, almost entirely in 50 fps RAW. Iso was at 3200 and I could still make a heavy grade and really make the red hoodie pop out of the background in DaVinci Resolve.

thanks, no I didn't use that, just normal Raw mode

It looks really great!
Did you have any issues with magenta fringing in Resolve?

Not the best editing, but I think some of the shots are really nice!

QuoteIt would help a lot if we get 1920x1440 / 1472x1104 for shooting with anamorphic. If i get 1920x1440 i would later scale it to 2048x858 for cine out complaining to DCI specification. In mean time is there any build so i could shoot with 1472x1104?

1920x1440 is only possible in CROP MODE, where the focal length of your lens gets multiplied by 3. The limit for full frame capture is 1920x1280 and that probably won't change.

QuoteAnd now, if you don't want you to start discussion then stay away from my thread.

I don't think that this attitude will help you with getting devs to help you. Might be better for you to keep using professional stuff like REDs with master primes anyway if you want to look professional on a professional set.

I recorded this with 50 fps at the 1728 resolution:

I can't understand how you are all satisfied with this workaround. It's just a blur of the color information, so it leads to noticable degrading in areas with high color detail. There has to be a better way, we shouldn't stop looking for it just because we have a workaround that kinda works in some situations!

Hey there, I'm sure this has been asked and answered somewhere. Is it possible to shoot 50 fps in crop mode? When I set fps override to 50 it gets set as 30.8

This is the first real test of my brand new mark 3 :-) Used some gradient filters in ACR for this.

#19
Really good!
#20
you can reover highlights by lowering exposure and then adjust curves to get the brightness back
#21
It doesn't have anything to do with the aperture blades. when taking photos they move into the right diameter for every frame and it does that with slight variations. during livewiev the aperture is obviously locked so that can't be the problem. We already know the why it flickers, it's just the algorithm of camera raw that was not designed to be used with video. Just don't use ACR highlight or shadow recovery and contrast in the 2012 process in the shots where the flickering occurs.
#22
thanks, that looks very nice!
#23
yeah, if someone shot a brickwall with it, that'd be great...

DjJuvan, could you show us some of your clips where you get aliasing? If it is really that bad I might reconsider buying a mark 3.

I just found another video shot in 50fps, which looks really good in my opinion. Maybe that's because it was shot at a resolution that only allows 4 second bursts:

All you people with 5d3s, PLEASE post some examples! I don't understand why everybody keeps posting their crappy 24p tests but I think I've seen only one video shot in 50p RAW (something on a beach but I can't find it anymore). This seems to be a huge improvement in sharpness over the h264 720p. The 50p quality kinda is a decision maker for me to get a 5d3, if I buy one first thing I'll do is post many many example videos ;-)

@fatpig: Why don't you just use the sync beep to sync your audio? Even if the 5dm2 records only a few seconds of audio, it will cost you recording time. I would use internal audio recording only if it's not possible to record externally. If you're already recording with an external recorder, internal audio recording is just a waste of buffer space imo.
