Raw Video / Re: 5D3 Raw 4:2:2 or 4:4:4?
June 24, 2013, 10:54:50 PM
RAW is RAW no compression in color space...

When you render ProRes 4444 it supports almost the full bandwidth ( 12bit ) of the 14 bit raw files... be sure to render to this codec for maximum quality. All Pro Res 422 flavours are 10-bit

From Apple ProRes Whitepaper

"Apple ProRes 4444 supports image sources up to 12 bits and preserves alpha sample depths up to 16 bits. All Apple ProRes 422 codecs support up to 10-bit image sources, though the best 10-bit quality will be obtained with the higher bit rate family members—Apple ProRes 422 and Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)."

As far as i know there is no video codec that supports the full 14 bit info of the RAW files except some hardware driven 16bit codecs. Thats why the RAW workflow using Davinci Resolve round trips is to me the best road to go if you want the maximum quality from your raw files

No wonder everybody feels its not right...even when i here ppl say we live in a capitalism world bla bla bla. I still feels like its not right...

What would be right is donate 25-50% profits to Magic Lantern project...now it feels right and fair: you still get paid for your work and you help Magic Lantern. So now everyones is happy and you can feel good about yourself and you get bonus: good karma ;-) .

The one you posted.

I created a folder,

Copied 2 *.raw files into this folder,

Copied raw2dng.exe and your bat file.

Clicked your bat file.

ONLY THE FIRST FILE extracted in this folder

2ND *.RAW FILE DID NOT EXTRACT

BOTH *.RAW files DELETED.

raw2dng.exe also deleted.

i have the exact same problem here ( running Windows8 64bit on OSX via parallel )

I noticed he change the raw_rec.c code from being  if (written > 0xFFFFFFFFu - ((uint32_t)buffer_count + 1) * 32*1024*1024)
to if (0) .   This way it does not stop until the memory card is full or until the user decides to stop.   He might had changed more code since I last look at it a few days ago.

so basically latest build (may17th) can record larger than 4GB files ? but we cant convert them yet right ?

I guess that would work.. but new files will slow things down. It can already record till the end of the card. I need to see why its not opening.

whats the trick to let it fill up the card and not stop after 4gig ?

TIA and keep up the good work !!

5D3 with transcend 1000x CF card

i have been experiencing with the nightly build and latest RAW features...its amazing !!! Big thanks to all the developers...i had a few crash and i kept al the logs... anybody from dev team interested in getting them ?

Im also wondering if it would be better to have ML installed on the SD card and only use the CF for recording... would it help reduce skipped frames ?

thanks all and keep up the good work so we can have some kind of stable build soon

I am looking for a working link to to the compatible OS X 1.1.3. Firmware file, is this on the ML forum somewhere?
As canon has it deleted from their database.
Thanks!
