Thanks!

Yours isn't bad at all, you just didn't compensate the movement of the milky way in your timelapse. You have to purposely aim your camera to the direction the milky way will come into frame. Use the iOS app starwalk. Its very helpful.

The second thing you didn't do was edit correctly. You need to have a very high contrast curve set up to contrast the dust lanes of the milky way from the black surrounding (space).

Thanks for the constructive criticism, I will have to try what you suggest next time. You are correct about the editing I didn't do any editing it was exactly as it came out of the 600D. I just might have to invest in Photoshop and ditch my open source program gimp for any edits I try in the future.

Thanks again for the feedback! :)

I love the intervalometer also, its one less thing I have to carry around or put batteries in. Nice results man!

Natures Creatures is really amazing, that parakeet had some serious moves going on,lol

Thanks for sharing such a cool video! :)

Great photos, it would be interesting to figure out a way to do it with Magic Lantern and a flash setup. Maybe incorporate the motion detect with the multi flash setup mentioned. I will be interested to know if you find a way to do this.

Nice experiment, you definitely have the horror movie look going on with that clip. I was waiting for something to jump out from behind one of those corners. I did notice the flicker you mentioned but like you said, it blended well with the film. I will be interested to see if anyone else has had this issue.

Looks good, how big was the file for that short clip? :)

I just read all the work you did to make this happen, sounds like a nightmare but your results are impressive! Thank you for testing this and all the work you put into sharing it with everyone! :)

Nice work man, I bet the time lapse of the stars took the longest. I really liked the part when the fire lit up the clouds that passed by, that was pretty epic.

Thanks for the Hawaii Virtual Tour! :)

Here's the thing.. when you take time lapse with too long of time between shots, you get a sort of jerky motion like your video had (although that could be for other reasons as well). I know you were testing it out, so by all means there is nothing wrong with learning. The more shots you take, like 1 shot every 5 seconds, the longer the video will be, but it will play back much smoother as well. That said, if you were doing a time lapse of say a building being built, you naturally couldn't shoot every 5 seconds for 3 months, the video would be way too long. I think each type of scenario will have different requirements for the duration between each shot. Keep on playing with it. These are some of my favorite uses of time lapse. Try doing HDR, it's amazing when it comes out right. If you're taking a picture 1 a minute, try shooting 3 or even 5 close together with different exposures and work with some HDR software and see it really come to life.

It would be difficult to get the proper exposure of the stars with a 5 second exposure. Have you had luck with 5 second exposures and the milky way? I am interested to know what setup you used to get that to work and if you have any examples on YouTube or anywhere else? Thanks in advance for any constructive criticism and examples.

Some great test videos, it will be nice when the Moire issues with the 6d is resolved. I would expect more from a higher end camera, but hey who the hell am I anyways.

Nice work and getting everything done in 24 hours is a feat in itself!

I personally love the camera and unless you abuse it heavily I don't think you will need to worry about it very much. With all you can do with a 600D the price makes this a great camera that you can get some pro results with. Sure it would be nice to have a 6D or 5D MIII but I also like to keep some cash in my pocket.

Ha! Not very long, but I bet you had to shoot for an hour or so?
Did you take a shot and then immediately after again for 35 seconds?

Can you half the ISO if you double the exposure time, or doesn't it work like that?

Did I actually just asked three questions in order to comment on your video?

Anyway, very nice goal to try all these nice features of ML  :D

You are correct it was about and hour before a car drove by and ruined the time lapse. In the video I just played it two times since it was so short just in case anyone blinked and missed it the first time, lol

You can half the ISO, but if you double the exposure time you will start to get very noticeable star trails.

Typically anytime you go way over the 30 sec exposure mark you will start to see some star trails, but this varies by the lens you use.

Thanks for taking a look and the comment.

This is not the best video, but I wanted to test it out with Magic lantern. I love all the features in Magic lantern and knowing I will never need an Intervalometer again! :)

Those are some really nice shots, is the building open to the public or did you have to get some kind of permission to get in to take the photos?

I am not a pro, but I think it was a nice and very clear video and a great start to your entry into Raw Video.

Thanks for the video, the visuals really helps explain what it really means to be able to use 3x crop mode on a full frame camera.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, longtimeexposure it's a little bit like the "old" way of photographing and wating so long till the picture is "developed".

I used a Canon EOS 500 D (EOS Kiss X3 / EOS Rebel T1i) and a tripod :)

I look forward to seeing more photos soon, we will have some dark nights soon with a new moon so its a great time to escape the light pollution and get some great landscape/star shots.
