You could use this MLVbrowsesharp to convert your mlv to raw: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=8447.0

Then use RAWanizer to export proxies and the DNGs. http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5557.0

Thanks for the reply Ted,

I do make my proxies with Resolve right now, but that way I can't have them with audio. Rendering the individual source clips tries to render the sources (.dngs) audio, which is non existent.

As I am on OSX I couldn't try RAWnizer, but by having a look at it, the routine is not gonna give me proxies with audio either.

We were shooting with a slate, so we did synchronize by hand which was time consuming with several hundred takes.

I'll have another look at the mlv_snd module thread, maybe it's already clear how big the offset in the beginning of the clip is. That way we could produce proxies with no sound through Resolve and merge them with the appropriate audio with a ffmpeg script.

I'll keep you updated if I find a proper solution.

Hello to everyone.

I'd like to tell you that we shot a shotfilm in .mlv the last two days. We were shooting 1080p25 with Global Draw on and mlv_snd on a couple of Komputerbay 64GB 1000x Cards. We did produce around 400GB of footage.

We had almost no problems, only had to warm up cards everytime we switched oherwise we had some frameskipping.
Also the remaining free space on the card was incorrect for some reason.

So far I did convert all the .mlv files to .dng+wav with the batch script on osx and now I am trying to figure out how to produce proxies with audio in a proper manner.

Thanks so far!

I can't see .dng previews either and I'm on 10.8.5. Cdng works fine though. Let's see where this is headed..

Cross question from the other "Feature Request: Batch Convert MLV files to DNG" thread:

is there a way for me to set a specific destination folder, by altering or adding a line to the script?

I tried variations of altering the mkdir, mv, and cd lines to a specific folder but had no luck. The folder was made thanks to mkdir but all the .dngs just got dumped in in the same folder the .mlv was in.

By now I am copying .mlv files from the CF Card to a certain folder and then run the script in there. As the folder is on an external hdd, the time for the copying process and mlv_dump to process the files could be greatly reduced by reading from one disk and writing to another.

Any help is deeply appreciated, the same way all your work already is.

Thank you very much in advance

I am using a macbook pro with an external USB 3.0 drive that is buspowered. It is a 5400 rpm drive that levels out at around 50Mb/s maximum read+write at the same time. It can write at around 95Mb/s though. As the input and output is on the same drive, I am stuck with that speed.

I would not have to copy the files at ~95Mb/s from CF -> HDD and then convert them at 50Mb/s, but could place mlv_dump and the script on the cf card, read from there and have the output written at (I'm guessing) around 90-95MB/s on the HDD

The limiting factor is drive speed, not the cpu so far.

It should take roughly 1/3 of the time if I am not mistaken here.

cheers, Ben

Hello friends,

is there a way for me to set a specific destination folder, by altering or adding a line to the script?

By now I am copying .mlv files from the CF Card to a certain folder and then run the script in there. As the folder is on an external hdd, the time for the copying process and mlv_dump to process the files could be greatly reduced by having different input and output drives.

Any help is deeply appreciated, the same way all your work already is.

Thank you very much in advance,
