I have 6D, and I am up for any kind of test/build you want to test.

But if you're using crop mode anyway... then why not just record in raw?

Because I talk about the 6D which doesn't have the crop-video mode like the 600D and the 70D. (for obvious marketing reasons)

Because when you record RAW video, magic lantern will only crop from whatever 1920x1080 the canon firmware is streaming - In my 6D the max would be 900x500 out of that. That's not the 1:1 sensor crop I was talking about. There will still be the same ugly moire and aliasing in the video.

If ML does actually record the video from the CENTER of the sensor, just like canon's Digital zoom mode on the 600D/70D, then it's revolutionary! And then it would be useful if I could record H264 out of that, so I can achieve the full-hd resolution.

To summarize = I would like ML to be able to imitate the excellent digital zoom mode of the 600D/70D that get rids of ALL the video artifacts.

Yes, You *have* to record in crop mode when recording raw, I don't know if it improves the bad moire on 6d (but it might as long as now sensor downsizing is involved), but you can barely record 720p due to the slow sd card speed (40mb/s max).

From what I have tried&tested with the 600D - It records the currently selected canon video mode and don't do any crop.
For example, if I set on the canon menu 1920x1080 without digital zoom (no crop mode), then the RAW video would take a portion out of THAT - not from the center of the sensor. That is - The camera scan about every 3rd line to get a 1920x1080 output, and the magic lantern can grab 950x540 crop out of THAT 1920x1080 screen. So yes, still the same ugly moire.
If I select the digital zoom (crop mode) on the 600D, the RAW VIDEO portion (950x540) would be taken out of that = No moire.
Am I right? Correct me if I am wrong. I'll be happy if I am wrong!

Sure thing! Put your camera on the shelf. Don't even think about using the shutter release button or the liveview button because those actions are non-reversible. Shutter count will be increased.

Because it seems here on the forums that if you ask a "stupid" question (in your eyes) you are being mocked and/or called a "Troll", but when I ask a more "Serious" question (after I was googling it many times to avoid duplicate topics) I get no answers!   (and then we wonder about forks and Tragic Lantern and why no stable progress has been made since 2012?)
I am not a programmer, and I have no abilities in doing the wonderful things you did, but giving everyone the respect they deserve is something which reflects back upon you.

I will paste here is my "sophisticated" question that didn't get answer: In 600D you have crop video mode that eliminate all moire and aliasing problems. I was trying to find first via Google and here if ML with the RAW VIDEO function could record from the center of the sensor on the 6D as well. There is no documentation yet to be red.
And regarding that, if that is possible, since 6D is incapable of recording Full-HD raw video due to the bandwidth limit, I wanted to find out whether it's possible to use the normal Canon compression - so it would be possible to record Full-HD from the center of the sensor.

I have 600D, and happily use ML with it for long time.
Just bought a 6D, with firmware 1.1.4.
I have a very basic knowledge with programming but I'll be happy to give any kind of help. (firmware dumps, testings, etc...)

After reading about the bootflag issue of the 5D MK III, I wanted to ask - Is this issue relevant on the 6D as well? I don't want to do any non-reversible action on my new 6D!
Can I safely uninstall it completely, including restoring the bootflag to default?

I understand that in order to install ML I must downgrade my firmware first to 1.1.3. As far as I red, no major changes happened in 1.1.4, and I downloaded from this thread the 1.1.3 firmware, and still skeptical if you do it. I never did a DOWNGRADE firmware direction. It's tested and being found OK, right?

That says: to record the maximum possible resolution at the moment, but from the center of the sensor (just like the 600D do), and by that avoid all moire and aliasing problems?

If the answer is YES - Is it also possible to shoot full-HD crop video from the center of the sensor with the normal Canon compression? (Immitate my beloved 600D mode...)

600D is the only camera to feature the wonderful 1080p recording with central crop from the middle of the sensor for 1:1 grab quality from the sensor.
My question is - Will it be possible to include a 720p capture in crop mode?
It won't be illegal to add that, as the camera anyway supports 1080p, and this is in fact a sort of "downgrade".

It would be very useful as the 720p is much more easy to MF as the LCD resolution is more or less the same, plus, the recording is done at 60FPS, which at some situations yield a much higher quality footage than the 1080p 30FPS mode.

I mostly use 720p because of it's 60FPS. The footage looks much more natural and live. Would be wonderful to have it also in the crop mode. (the digital zoom in that case would be around 4x)
