It's all i have available unfortunately. Maybe f2.5 to increase dof and iso at H (12800 i think?).

Moon 2nights ago was at full and no cloud cover tonight. So ambient light should be high.

What other options are there? Am thinking asking around for a sony handicam with night mode but need it in less than 7 hours time....

General Help Q&A / 650D nightime video - best settings?
September 11, 2014, 11:51:10 AM
Hi guys,

Have ML on my 650D and i'm trying to figure the best settings for night time video. I won't have an LED light on top or anything like that so am thinking high iso and wide open?

I have a 50mm f1.8 so will use that to get the most light but what settings should i use on camera?

Many thanks

Hi guys,

Where are the nightly 650d builds held? Or a reliable working version with some of the latest features. On my version if i enabled movie crop, then go back to photo mode i can't take a photo.

Thanks

And i forgot to ask, is there a bug track pages so that i can file bugs/check existing bugs?

Thanks

Raw Video / 650D higher than 60fps?
August 05, 2013, 12:58:04 PM
Guys,

I'm new to ML and currently have it working on my 650D (thanks to nanomad and the rest of the devs).

Using the stock canon firmware i can record at 60fps in 720p, will ML allow me to increase this? I would like to take some very short clips at high frame rate in order to slow them down to do some slow mo.

Many thanks

BUG (?)

Camera in movie mode, Crop movie = ON... video works fine.
Suddenly I like to take a photo... Switch camera to photo mode, focus, press shutter... oops... press shutter! Press harder!... Hmmm, no photo!

Go back to movie mode, Crop Movie = OFF
Photo mode: Press shutter... works fine again.

To be short: You can't take photos when switching from movie to photo mode, while using Crop movie.

EDIT: Used satriani's ML_N_04.08.2013

By the way... Thanks for the update(s)! :)

I can second this. Although a turn off/on of the camera also allows me to take photos again.

Hi guys and thanks to nanomad and others for their efforts.

Currently I can record at 60fps 720p. If I reduce the resolution can I record at a higher frame rate? If so could someone tell me where I can do this?

Many thanks

I only looked for a minute, but couldn't find it... part of my job is building websites, having that "DONATE" button in the face of each user might help getting the message through that this is a voluntary pursuit and if they really wanna help, put their money where their mouth is.

I'll take a look and am sure I'll find it, but either way, thanks.

They are no longer accepting donations. Although i think they should to help pay for hosting, bandwidth, machines to compile on and so on....

Hello, why to have no version ml with the functions which do not walk to block  it would allow all to practice and it could wait

I think Oli is requesting a version of ML with the buggy parts disabled so that other less buggy areas can be tested(played with).

I presume the extra effort required to do this should just go towards fixing the bugs?

Or plaster this everywhere

http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/faq?&#troll_questions

Or better yet, make it pop-up in a lightbox kind of embedded pop-up thing for non-registered users.

Or better yet, for people like me who are itching in their pants to get a working version of ML advise that monetary donations will not help but coders/programmer will.

Note to people monitoring this thread: How many people eagerly checked the thread to see if my post was a release???? ;-)

Lucas, that was the plan 2 weeks lasting 14 seconds.

24 shots per day * 14 days = 336 photos, surely not enought to wear the shutter out!

Likewise, I would also like something to play with while waiting for the full release.

Understandably everyone who downloads the early version does so at their own risk but it would be much appreciated.

I need the intervolameter so that I can do a 2 week time lapse of a plant setup I have ready :-)

Hi guys,

Sorry to chase but any idea when a public beta might be available?

Or is it very much like Debian; "It will be done when its done"?

Many thanks to all the devs and I am willing to test the beta (gather its a closed alpha at the moment?)

Cheers guys

Calm down everyone :)

Just a quick update: With the help of Alex, I've  fixed the last couple of bugs people reported during the "closed doors" alpha testing. I just need to find some time to commit it (as it's on my home PC) and properly re-test everything once again  ;)

On your home PC???? You're an IT whiz, SSH home!  ;) Cheers though, am looking forward to it (am on holiday this coming weekend so if you've got something out prior to then that would be grand)

Can an admin go through this post and delete all the junk that's appeared in it over the last few posts, including this one!

To summarise:
Hacker - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker Reverse Engineer - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_engineer

Hacking covers a broad spectrum of skills, both good and bad, ML do not 'hack' anything. What they do is reverse engineer the cameras in order to gain a better understanding on how they can run custom code. Hacking, or as it's known in the industry 'Penetration Testing', is my day job - http://www.phillips321.co.uk/

More importantly and back to the point: Unfortunately i have not used ML before and am patiently waiting for its release.... am looking forward to providing testing feedback when it arrives.

So I don't do c++ as a primary language but am comfortable with programming (mainly scripting such as python).

How big is the MLB  dev team and what areas are slowing down the release of the 650d version that I could assist with?
#17
So what language is ML written in?

And do you have some sort of emulation environment to test against or is it a case of compile, load onto the camera and pray?

Just registered to say I'm looking forward to the stable release and will donate once the stable version is out.

I have a 400d and have been using 400plus for the past few years, just purchased the 650d and waiting for it to arrive but know ill be missing the extra functionality that 400plus offers.

Lookined forward to the stable release.....
