I've just started using the MLV App and it seems to work, although I am not sure about the best settings/formats for rendering.
My biggest problem is there is no audio track.
I have the mlv_lite, mlv_rec, and mlv_snd modules activated on my D5 Mk1III, with ML Nightly.2018Jul03.5D3123.
I just activated MLV Sound. Was that it? I've got to experiment more...

That's weird. I started my T3 today, and there is no error message. Maybe it "needed" a couple of restarts. ML seems to be working.

So sorry, only t3_106 is listed - my bad typo :-[

@dfort: I got the 1.0.6 firmware and the ML 1100D106 to work together. I had to degrade to 1.0.5 and re-upgrade, as you mentioned. The MacBoot didn't work; I got "The Java class file "MacBoot.class" could not be launched."

I am getting an error message: 'Error loading "ML/MODULES/t3_106.sym" File does not exist." and on the bottom of the screen "missing symbol file: ML/MODULES/t3_1006.sym : File does not exist" and
"save configs...
save configs..."

So far so good...

@Dfort: I upgraded my firmware to Canon's 1.0.6 alright, but with a different card loaded with your 1.0.6 ML files; ML folder and autoexe.bin file, I can't seem to do the ML firmware update from the Canon-menu-firmware route. Do I need the ML-SETUP.FIR file from the other card? Nope- that didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 1100D / T3

This was my first DSLR, now it's my second backup camera. I use ML on it and am interested in trying out the latest version. The other two Canons I have are a 70D and 5DMkIII.

I've been lurking in the forums for a while and trying out various Magic Lantern modules on first my Canon T3 (1100) and now a 70D. I'm on a Mac, early 2009 Power Mac, with El Capitan.

I had success with Magic Lantern dual-iso, the intervalometer, etc. I shot a wedding, nonprofessionally. I dabbled with dual iso, ETTR with custom white balance and HDR movies, and I have processed several thousand photos with some degree of success last summer.  ;D

Then, I upgraded to Lightroom 6 CS from 5, and all of the sudden my Lightroom photos, that I had previously processed with the current cr2hdr, when opened in Lightroom were drastically lighter with the highlights blown out and unrecoverable. :'( The image preview would open looking fine as I had already processed and adjusted all the photos, then the preview would go too bright. I stewed on that for a while, then moved on.

Then I upgraded to El Capitan and nothing in post-processing Magic Lantern files would work. There was also that thing about Adobe Camera Raw not recognizing my 70D files. ::) I finally figured out about the SIP, and got my bin files in order.

I've recently have been trying to use the Magic Lantern Lightroom plugin, which seemed to work best in my workflow. I'm using the 3.0-BETA4 plugin. It works great, fast, no errors but my dual iso photos get processed too bright again! :'(

Is it my dual iso settings on my camera? I shoot without dual iso and the exposure is good (iso 1000) I shift into dual iso (iso 1000-4000) and they are overexposed. I thought the ML dual-iso would determine which iso value was best for an area of exposure.

I've been playing with the MLP Services and with troubleshooting I get files that look like close to what I think is possible but I'm not proficient at getting the correct setting. Is there some way to adjust the ML Lightroom plugin brightness setting before processing to get proper exposure? I have the original CR2 files from that wedding, etc., am I going to get back the dual iso photos that once worked and now are over exposed when processed?

I like to shoot bands in clubs under low intensity, colored, stage lights with action, so a high dynamic range on dual-iso a single shot would be great. I'd also like to use Magic Lantern techniques for video at some point again.

I know you probably want sample files, logs file and other information. I also understand you may want me to move to another more appropriate forum. At this point, I'll accept whatever advice I can get. And I'll try to provide any information you fine individuals would desire in order to provide a solution, or directions to a path.

All of you guys; @A1ex, @dmilligan, @nikfreak, @audionut, @walter_schulz, @danne, @kichetof, @DeafEyeJedi, @g3gg0, etc. deserve a huge wave of appreciation for what you are doing. My photo friends can not believe what you've allowed my lowly equipment to do. And showing Canon what their products should be able to do. (Canon:I really want HDMI output while recording video with headphone output with strong wireless connectivity on my next camera.)

Best regards,

David Johnson

Oops. I had the wrong url, but I edited it.

I've been using the cr2hdr-r_9.9_lut_lab to process my dual iso photos with some success, but I was looking forward to using the Lightroom plugin to simplify the process.

I finally got it to work, but the exposure on the processed file is way too high; the highlights are blown out and I can't adjust them back.

Here is a before and after sample. I'm using Lightroom CS6 on a Mac with El Capitan. These are shot with a Canon 70D with ML 70D.111A.

I don't know how to add attachment to this forum, so here is a dropbox link to the files: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/na83wgkdeq05rso/AAAi9k4bS0_GdAWBw4dV4Y7aa?dl=0

What am I doing wrong?

I've updated to the LR Plugin Beta 3.3 and get a error #256 when I try to export. LR 6.3CS Mac El Capitan

Wow. So cutting edge and nerdy!  8) No wonder I couldn't get it to work, it wasn't invented yet. That could also explain the problems I've been having with MLV files. I'm sure looking forward to the Mac friendly w/ Yosemite, LR 5, 70D nightly build.

Never done a PM on this forum before, either; I feel like the whale in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

So excited to use ML for increasing the DR through dual iso, also amazed at the ETTR and RAW video possibilities.

I'll be glad to provide feedback to support the developers. As I use ML I'll be better at making suggestions.

Thanks for everybodys' help.

Update:  Thanks Danne, and others, for working with me with instructions and script to get the dual iso CR2s processed on my Mac! Onward to dual iso and RAW video!

@Audionut: I have Parallels with Windows 7. When I double try to open the cr2hdr.exe for the 70D a black dialog box with white letters flashes open, then disappears.

@dmilligan: errors like "Error to Export ...Error #256", here's a CR2: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fhlcx2pin540ksp/AACv2BFb9tPWzDUWgA-GJ_LEa?dl=0

@Audionut: that's a .exe file and I don't have Lightroom for Windows.

Hi,

I'm a Magic Lantern user on my T3 and now a 70D. I've been trying out the March 14 ML and I'm getting used to it. The problem I'm having is converting CR2 dual iso files to something usable.

I use a Mac with Yosemite, Lightroom 5, Photoshop CS6. I downloaded cr2hdr, in many versions including cr2hdr-r 1.8 app and 5.3u s, and the Lightroom plugin. I haven't been able to get anything to work. The programs either don't recognize the file type, don't do anything or put out a error message.

Help, please.
