LV presets are ok with props on, so I guess that's why they are not working.

I've fixed a little bug that made the canon metering draw over the ML ui (it still does, but for a split second)
should I be installing nightlies?

for me:
Everything off and no LV 3.2-3.4%
every thing off ( including global draw) and LV on and focus on manual:  CPU + 69.6- 70.8%

If i turn auto focus on: it is up to 79.1-79.3
If i then turn LV off, it drops to 39% when focusing

LV on, and Global draw and zebras it goes up to 84.2-84.6%
Add focus peak and it increases to 99.2-99.4%

If I then turn autofocus off again, in drops slighly to 996.8-97.2%

I can confirm the led light:

Go te prefs, and turn on LV display presets to 2.
cycle with info button in lv, and led turns solid.

ihowever i cant get it to go off by shutting of lv, it stays solid.

I did note that while shooting a 7 minute video with default ML settings that the Camera body became very hot, as I am sure this is related to the High CPU load, I am wondering if this is normal with all those features running? as I see from posts that its happening, my concern is Overheating the board.

Oh yeah, I just called Canon on it, but they wanted me to start up a case, I just hung up on Him. I will diagnose myself, and yes I agree boomerang it if it fails. Quicker and faster then any RMA.

The battery pack no longer works with camera therefore cannot do that. It may be in the unlocking of the Boot loader. I am just hoping that it did not fry anything in the camera as I was removing the battery pack. I am hoping that the battery pack if anything failed which I will test on Friday and will post my findings. I just wanted to know if there was a way to Relock the boot loader into the original firmware. I am sure if a new firmware comes out I will be able to apply that and should relock the BL.

Received new Grip, and it works. I purchased the Same make and model. So apparently I had the battery pack inside the grip while removing it, that's what I am thinking. So please note that the Grip is working and thanks goes out to everyone who addressed my concerns. I am now returning grip back to the Big A.

Nanomad or other Devs. is there a link you can post that shows me how to write the Scripts so I can make an HDR 7 exposure script and where and how to apply it to the camera many thanks for the great job.

Try pressing the LV button while in ML menu :P
AWESOME!!! Thanks. this is great stuff.

I am thinking if there would be a way to adjust the Opacity of the ML overlay screen so we can see Live View in background better. I notice that it doesn't take over the screen, that its actually on top of the screen -- hence why some will see flicker -- that's usually because camera is in a live view status and the Screen is overlaying it -- thus not overriding Live View, but if you could make the ML screen a bit more opaque we will be able to see the Live View a bit better. Just a thought and an Idea. and addressing the prior comment on why the flickering is happening.

Yes, the halfshutter test fails because it requires properties.
Thank you, will continue testing. I didn't do it but it looks tempting will the menu option that says don't test this brick my Camera?

Okay so I go to debug menu>burn-in tests>stubs API test:
Test completes with 85 pass 1 fail. Is that normal?

I've used Meike batt grips with sterling effect over the years (bashed around in India, Kuwait, etc). Never a problem, solid, well built and cheap (like $30 on the A). Works perfect with ML PA2. So yeah, send yours back for another copy (like we seem to have to do with lenses on a regular basis these days...)

To boot into the "original firmware" you can hold down the SET button as you switch the camera into the On mode, a message will appear on the screen saying "Magic OFF".

The battery pack no longer works with camera therefore cannot do that. It may be in the unlocking of the Boot loader. I am just hoping that it did not fry anything in the camera as I was removing the battery pack. Tested the BGRip with full batteries -- nothing changes. I will re-order one and see if its my BG grip that went bad. I will repost in 2 days regarding this. Also is there a way to re-lock the firmware to original to test if that works?

Also, to the DEVS, is there a way to move the Memory text that is on top of my battery indicator into a more black spot on the screen, like a shift of 8 fonts to the Right?

Hi nanomad

Thanks so much for your work. I'm new to ML and to digital photography (the 650D is my first digital - used my T90 before) and it is fantastic to get such an awesome tool from you guys.
Will have to play around with it and learn a lot. I'm totally excited.
thanks, thanks, thanks!!!!

to buckbullstallion:

Using a Phottix BG-550D batterygrip and it is working normal - all buttons work.

Best, Robert

JINX and that's the same one I am using. I will fully charge batteries and give it another go. thanks for responding and reading my MIND!!! LOL they may not be the same, but they are both 550D just probably rebranded.

Original canon BG and AC adapter. They work fine with ML (I always have them on unless I need to enable the bootflag)
I use a photive PH-GRP550D I know its a t2i system but was working fine, Maybe my AC battery block did something to the system. Sad face. it does work with the battery and the AC battery pack. I will fully charge the batteries and recheck will let you guys know. I just know that the pack above mentioned was working just prior to the Update and now doesn't. If it doesn't work. Again I accept full responsibility for my actions on my camera, but if someone has this battery pack adapter and could verify that theirs works that would be great.

I am so Thrilled that ML is working that that doesn't matter. ML FTW. Thank you nanomad and all devs for making this possible on the 650D

Okay, 1 question, does anyone use a battery pack, and if so does the battery pack work after the install. After I unlocked the boot loader, and run the ML on my 650 I am no longer getting the battery pack to work. If anyone could verify if their battery pack works, and perhaps what brand you have that would be great. I have a generic brand. or if there is a switch inside ML that enables or disables the battery I would like to know thank you. I am so happy to have my camera with ML that I can care less at this time. but just thought I would ask that question perhaps I messed something up. But right now after applying this update I no longer am able to use my battery pack.

Nanomad or other developers including the 5DmarkIII team -- do you think it would be possible to port the Multiple Exposure feature that the 5D Mark III has? I do believe they run the same Proc. Just wondering if it could be done and perhaps replace something on the dial setting for this on the 650 D. Please share you thoughts regarding this. thank you.

We have the largest number of views of the topic.
At the time, the other topics are moving forward, but the development of ML 650D is really dead. There is nothing to say thank you (((. Green light changes to red. Alpha version? Are you sure? How to speed up this process? Canon 650d camera ceased to produce. Do not wait for 1.0.2 firmware ((((( sorry
Repent turn your heart back to the Creator, have faith, and Believe.

I am just excited to brick my camera. I used to program in the day, many years ago asm on 6809 wow have things grown since then. never kept up. But I am always ready to test and report. I am sure you have enough testers but in future releases as I have stated in a post earlier, I would love to test the bracketing script to infinity as I am just now getting into HDR and feel limited with 3 frames.
Keep up the tremendous work, and hopefully the new guys that offered their expertise passes the interview and will lend their talents to this great adventure. Grace and Peace to all who are working on this and to all testers.

Sorry I am sure this was not the forum to define what "hacking is to me". but let us pull our efforts here and discuss possibility's of this T4i and what this Digic 5 can do and its limitations as well as be ready willing and able to log reports and tests with the Developers of this great software that we can use. As I have mention the only reason I chose Canon was that ML existed to enable my camera to perform better and more stable.

I am playing nice.
Sometimes modern society "tarnishes" the term "hacking" by trying to associate this term with terrorism, or illegal acts as defined in  Merriam Websters dictionary: 4:b
    intransitive verb
4.a : to write computer programs for enjoyment
b : to gain access to a computer illegally
When I see hacking i see the a form. and also to make something perform better. For instance if I needed a chisel for a job yet only had a screw driver and a grinding stone, I would be able to hack that screwdriver to function more like a chisel. 2. A car that gets 22 MPG if there can be a device that connects to a car that can allow it to get better gas milage or if you can modify the computer in the Car to get better gas mileage -- this is called hacking. And because I own the vehicle there should be nothing wrong with this activity.
Now the governments and corporations would have you think there is something wrong with "hacking" by saying "All Hacking is Terrorism". this is the Lie from the pit of Hell.  So fear not the terms used to apply a computer generated program for our enjoyment as hacking to gain access to a computer illegally. I see this as modifying a product to make better use of it.

now that we are on the same page, if I use the term Hacking, I am not trying to use the "ohhh thats bad term". as this is clearly what hacking is not. not to me.

Canon should pay these guys. Magic Lantern generates as much interest in canon products as canon's own marketing, maybe more.

I agree, its the only reason I choose Canon over Nikon or Sony. Its because of the people here at ML that I buy Canon.

The only Feature I hope is included on this first Alpha release is Bracketing I would like to see 9 or more if possible and unclipping of the +2/-2 to allow for +3/-3 aeb exposure. that would be the greatest gift for me that I could hope for on release alpha, i would test that feature to the ground.

again all props to the Developer and all the testers that were invited into pre-alpha.

I've compiled myself a magiclantern.bin and autoexec.bin but I'm not sure how to compile the .fir or whatever else I need.

EDIT: I've tried doing "make" in the install/650D folder and it's giving errors that I don't quite understand.  I'll post a link to a log as soon as I can get it out of the VM.

EDIT: Is it acceptable to use 650D-bootfix.fir with a compiled autoexec.bin and ML?

EDIT:
I took the plunge and it worked out-of-the-box when I inserted my card and turned on. (I think I had set my camera's bootflag on a previous experiment).

where did you find all those files to compile?

Hey hey, just chiming in again, loving the progress so far, just wish I knew where to get that pre-alpha, but from the looks of it will not have to search as an Alpha is on the Horizon. A big thank you for the Devs working tirelessly on this Port. an all the testers testing. I have my virgin Camera here ready to slap some ML love in it. thanks again.

I just want to give a round of applauds to all who are diligently working on this project around their normal daily living. I am thrilled by the progress thus far and am excited for alpha testing, as I am anxious to get this on my camera and start testing and playing with it. again thank you nanomad for all your hard work and effort. I am sure you through your tiresome RnD you are as thrilled as the rest of us with this project.

Much respect and appreciation.

1 question tho if its safe to ask -- just how dangerous is it to start with what available now to tinker?
