Thank you will try to follow the lead.

Walter thanks for your response.

Actually I don't know where to track the latest update, because the forums started from 2013 or 15.

I don't know how to read through sometimes 85 pages.

I have installed the March 20th Nightly build. And I can see the MLV file but cannot see the RAW.

What could be the case. I went to Post Processing but there is lot of content don't know where to start.

I think since ML is about video. There should be video forums or at least demo videos regarding the changes in the latest upgrades.

It is very hard to convince other forum contributors to answer your queries.

They are randomly answered and at times ignored totally.

I have installed the latest nightly for 1.1.3 5D3 and can't find RAW file after recording in the folder.

Is there are recent a development. I don't know what to do next or how to extract video from MLV only file.

Strolling around for a while but unsure if I am posting in right forum.

I am back with ML after a few month break, and installed Dec 19 update.

Can't go beyond 20 seconds without the red recording sign.

Please advise, any headsup?

Or where can I find specific setting for optimal experience.

I don't know what the problem is. I can't reproduce it.

Inserted a 8 GB SD-card into my Hackintosh (running 10.11.6) and run Disk Utility. Formated card with ExFAT. Inserted card into cam (650D): No problem. Copied ML files to card and installed ML via Firmware update option.
Configured MLV_REC to write with 35.4 MByte/s to ExFAT and stopped after 3:00. File size is 6,716,211,808 Bytes.

What are we talking about? As far as I can tell dratif haven't used ExFAT at all.

Thanks Walter Schulz for your procrastination- I have been using exFat for several months now and only recently when updated to Kapitan faced this problem. And without reading this thread have been formatting exFat through Windows.

Being rude to newcomers is really isn't necessary. Least we expect from Heroes.  :)

And now the 5D Mark IV.  What would ML do with 4K - non-cropped video RAW ;

I think Canon is giving Jpegs. And we need RAW, I hope Team ML will stand and deliver again to the challenge.

@dratif I can't understand why you are using old outdate ( not to mention very time consuming) workflow .
The quickest and yet the most precise workflow has always been MLVFS (cdng on the fly convertor) http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13152.0
Cross platform (PC & Mac) Just mount the MLV and import Cdng in to Premiere Pro or BM Resolve no need to waste time converting .
This is the Gold Standard for file extraction . A trusted professional workflow I can be working with ML raw file with correct audio sync in least then 2min in resolve.
Important to my workflow as I need quick turn around , I do mainly news/documentaries pieces.
Or the other amazing fast raw workflow in which you can fully grade your MLV or Raw ver. 1.0  files and export as a ProRes , DNxHD , Tiff , Png's , H264  and of course Cdng's  then try out
MLVProducer http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=15271.0  Originally it's a PC app but will run under Wine in Mac OSX
This post explains how get MLVProducer working with Wine in OSX  http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=15271.msg151403#msg151403

And from my understanding MLRawViewer exports lossless JPEG Compressed DNG's read the following posts

Indeed I used MLVFS for the above video.

I will study and will bother you again in case I am lost.

Thanks a bunch.

Solution : old disk utility works with some small modification.

It dont wanna risk using altered because the card, the camera and the fact that we are on hack- doesn't make me feel confident to go ahead with it.

So WS any durable option besides Win?

Thanks much.

Solution? Is there a problem?

How to format on Mac that is exfat.

Every time I do on Mac it wont go beyond 4GB and when I do it on Windows it is fine.

Thanks for your reply.

Conversion to what? Define "quality". Post examples. Describe your workflow. We care about facts not feelings.

Thanks for your response.

My work flow is MLV to Premiere.

By feeling I meant visual generation loss.

But today I felt much enhancement using MLVP to Camera Raw to Premiere.

Got this output https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8cYkzNSD3o

Because I have been fighting with pink frames and extended noise. Does it have to do anything with settings or just MLV could be the reason?

Also I felt much improvement in quality after using MLV 1.4.3 so is there any reality attached or facts to back up?
I don't know how to quantify pixellation in figures.

What is the standards workflow for the best visual treat or output or least drop so to say.

Thanks again.

Does MLRawViewer deteriorate quality after conversion?

For some reason I feel like that.

As usual 1.1.3 < 1.2.3 and who is this dude at your local camera shop?

He may be correct for most electronic devices out there but not when it comes to 5D3.

I know you fan of KB. I am using Sandisk 64G 160MB- should I feel confident and go ahead and try KB. The price is so attractive.

I use 5D3

Some unprocessed and processed footage showing your problem would be fine.
Because there is none (yet) I might consult my magic ball:
- H.264 in Canon flavour does some heavy image processing. Upscaling, line skipping (if not 5D3), smoothing, noise reduction, sharpening.
- RAW/MLV does have problems with line skipping (if not 5D3 or using crop mode) but does not have smoothing, upscaling, noise reduction.
- Underexposed recording with ISO 100 will result in noise after exposure correction.

So MLRawViewer or conversion through there to Mov files has nothing to do with generation drop? Is it just about underlighting? because I have sensed the grain or vignetting even outside in broad day light.

Please advise.

I've read a lot of threads with you raving about how good KB has treated you, but I just ordered 4 KB cards last week and 2 of them were duds from the get go. My first experience with them scared me enough to never want to try again. What's worse is KB charges a %15 restocking fee because I want a refund instead of a replacement.... so you know, that's fun to deal with.

Doesn't bother me paying for the peace in mind a more reputable name like Sandisk can provide because that cost will trickle down to clients. I'll post this weekend with the benchmark.

Jedi should I try 128GB 1066 KB? you're right it is almost half of Sandisk.

I have 64 GB 160 Sandisk that cost me $150 a year ago from B&H.

Do you think it's worth giving a shot?

Lol I mean will it work?

I know this is ongoing problem with tablets and hdmi input, ive been trying to come up with a way for a while now , mainly since i broke my usb connector on cam board :/ :( If i put as much effort into getting it fixed id be up and running again, lol however ive came up with something, and hopeing an intelegent meber will be able to conform or deny this theory,
Ive recently discovered a tablet I bought in a job lot wasnt what i thought , it came as normall 10 inch tablet with usb charger and everything seemed normal, untill i went to charge it, i noticed a port on bottom unlike any other. I took it round countless shops to aquire correct charger all of whom had never seen it and had no clue.  time to start digging, Turns out this is the HP Slatebook 10 x2 quad core intel tegra tablet/laptop. top half come away from bottom like a keyboard docking staion. , has on paper at least some nice specs. ssd card in both sections and internal memory in also. bottom section is were all the normal ports lie however, usb , chargeing port, not sure if it has hdmi, but that wouldnt matter heres my thinking, and I hope Ive got this correct. the docking port on the tablet side is Hps own generic design, threw what ive read I think its there version of the apple charger, so u have to buy another chargeing solution / synce cable, But further digging turns out this port is pretty close to thunderbolt port and may even be quicker , or offer more threw it. it acts as both chargeing port and data synce from keyboard section to monitor, apparntly 4k cable data can go threw this connector. so if ive got this rite and i hope i have makes perfect sense in my head :p, instead of connect the tab to the keyboard dock, find a hack / solution to turn the curent conector with hdmi on otherside for to atach it to camara..? think i saw 1 on hps site already around £40 bbut hp isnt the easiest to understand lets face it. so i could be way of. anyway ive ordered base and requreid cables get a better look at whats what, in meantime if any1 knows better about this transformer type docking staion tablet please comment as im now eager to find out 1 way or other . hope this helps.  :) and hope this is the case as the slatebook 10 is down considerbly in price. got this 1 for       under 50, time i add charger and dock up 80, saw them with 32gb internal with two free ssd slot and usb port on ebay with "new and buy now £150. not bad for quad core intel. fingers crossed :)

Braw

Were you able to get it working?

I am trying to monitor on Nexus 7 with Mark iii 1.1.3 but my clip ends on 25 seconds.

Any tips?

Make sure you have your CF card selected from the menu. It sometimes switches to SD when you don't have a CF card in camera and won't revert back.

Followed your tip on the latest 1.1.3 (April 1st) update. Now it goes to record almost 25-30 seconds until the clip recording goes red and stops.

Any further advice?
#18
Ok will try again.
#19
Got the latest 1.1.3 but still wont record while monitor on Nexus 7 beyond few seconds.

#20
I tried 30 FPS still not recording beyond few seconds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gCd63Yj_wI

Shot this long shot video but cant see vignetting or I am just blind ;)

so I dont know been fondling around for a while.

Really appreciate some help or directing me to any other forum.
#21
So I have downgraded to the latest 1.1.3

DEJ should I switch to 30 FPS coz right now I use 24 FPS.

I still cannot monitor and record on Nexus 7.

Lately I have started noticing some pink vignetting. May be when I super close up.

Am I right? is there a fix or catch? or is it my illusion or something wrong with the setting?

Please advise.
#22
Yes I am.
#23
RTI

I am on 1.2.3

Everything's fine. Camera record ML when I am not Nexus 7. And even when I set the resolution below 1920X1080

The trouble is it doesn't monitor/record when I set it on 1920X1080

Like I said 1600X900 it records while monitoring but not on 1920X1080.

Nexus resolution is 1920X1080 and I know DSLR controller also supports 1920X1080.

I checked all the settings. Also my settings wont show option of 1856X1044.

Please advise.
#24
Sorry guys for the late reply.

I did work it out, I can record at 1600X900 and can monitor on Nexus.

Now the problem is when I stretch it to 4k in AE it kind of gets pixellated.

I wonder why it wouldnt work in Nexus 7 when its native resolution is 1920X1200.

Makes no sense to me, or is it about DSLR Controller?

Am I missing something somewhere?

Hardware and Accessories / 1.2.3 monitoring on Nexus 7
February 21, 2016, 12:51:17 AM
Hi guys,

I got everything working with ML 1.2.3 except for the fact that I cannot monitor on Asus Nexus 7 (Second Gen.2013) while in recording mode.

Any tips will be appreciated.

Any thread that I can follow would be great too.
