Carried out today with no problem. the version i used today (downloaded using pelican's eos utility) has the fancy new menu/icons, silent shooting a dual ISO (not tried that yet though)

thanks for the guide and thanks for the software!

Yes, I had the same problem last week, I pull out the little button battery 10 seconds and after no problem
thanks for the suggestion guys - tried that but no luck. looking at a few repair websites it is sometimes an earth connection on one of the boards... suppose i could take it apart and have a look.
now where's my hammer  ;D

I have to send my 7d off to canon as it is refusing to talk to any of the batteries I have. quite a common fault apparently! annoyingly it stops me doing a firmware update  >:(
its out of warranty so I have to pay myself but I wonder if they will be able to tell its done some above and beyond photography?

On that note, it seems the 7D development is not going forward as frenzy as the other ones anymore. (5D3, 6D, EOS-M) You see a lot of updates on the threads and bitbucket for those, but rarely on the 7D anymore. It's not even on nightly build.

With g3gg0 stating that there are no further plans and no news, I wonder if it's going back into hibernation like before?

But still, I'm saying this just out of curiosity and because I love the whole ML on 7D thing. No pressure to the devs or anything. There is one thing I have to say on the whole ML thing though: ML availability has become one of the top concerns on choosing future canon bodies for me. I most likely won't buy any more canon bodies that hasn't been properly ML'd. It's that important, and I'm really grateful for all the work done.

agreed 100%
i have often thought about selling the 7d body and getting a 60d instead. but i love the 7d... especially with ML on it
g3gg0... what are the chances of an alpha that doesn't need installing each time? (or is that a beta?) i thought there was an issue (copywrite?) with the 7d bootflag? has that been resolved?

thanks

Feature Requests / Re: Colour accent
March 01, 2013, 09:58:49 PM
cool, thanks for the info.

i thought i would suggest it as there is some canon code out there already but i'm guessing:
a.) that would involve a world of copywrite pain!
b.) it's probably written completely differently on compact canons

cheers

Feature Requests / [PICTURE STYLE] Colour accent
February 26, 2013, 10:43:17 PM
did a search and couldn't find it mentioned anywhere... also had a browse through the requests and couldn't see it

didn't know it was called colour accent until today so please excuse my dullards explanation below:

the canon powershot sx230 has a feature where you can point the camera at an object and it will then filter your shots so that they are black and white except objects that are the same colour as the one you 'set' at the beginning. Think New York cabs in yellow, everything else b&w etc

maybe an expandable bracket of colour using the dials to get more (or less) things close to that colour e.g. grass over a distance - different shades of green plus different varieties etc

i know this is possible in post for photos but don't know if it is for vids? also, you could spend ages doing it for it to turn out rubbish?! it could be good to compose in LV

Thanks
hope it was worth suggesting
