Is  it theoretically possible or can this not be done in terms of changing the output of hdmi ?   Like intstead of 1080p 8bit 4:2:0 increase the quality sentt?

This isn't about a specific camera but I just  never heard of this?

It's like this too when I play from mplayer.(before uploading the video)

I just used the default youtube settings. when exporting from resolve...(Linux, free version.

So, I converted my raw stuff to prores4444.   But i Have some questions I'm new to this... what order should I do things in...

I have an xrite.  Should I set the xrite first then convert to rec709 then additional grade   / lut stuff?

I searched for this but  couldn't find it.

Also a question, do you always do additional grading stuff after calibrating with an xrite?  It seems like it'd just fix the levels ?  and that would be it ? I could understand more artsy coloring for a desired look?

thanks - m

I use the free version of Resolve on Linux.

So, when I play in mlv app I get a get a lot of flickering(due to me accidentally recording in hdr)

When I export to something like prores 4444 with hdr checked in the export settings. It plays fine(no flickering) and no flickering in resolve. But when I export to dng uncompressed with the hdr checked in the export settings, in resolve I get the same flickering...

So, here's what happened.  On Friday/Saturday I did a small raw video test of my cat at home, put the cf card in my card reader and it worked fine.

Sunday, I took some raw video at my band practice and now the cf card isn't recognized at all when I plug it in(the computer).   Not even as an unformated device(nothing under fdisk)...
The card reader shows up under dmesg when I plug it in, it has 2 slots a sdcard slot which still works.

The only difference was I was using a usb cable with connected to my cell phone with dslr controller.

Was there a a special way to list raw videos? I thought the play(triangle button) should work?

There is a wierd ass video on there  of the back of a canon camera that I have no idea...

I have a 5d3 and I'll be making a music video with my band.  I'm new to a lot of this codec /color space stuff.....

So, it seems maybe I just want to export dng losless?  What gamma curve thing should I use?  What picture profile should i use?  I did buy the cinelook/cinetech thing but I haven't put it on this camera yet. Is it better to use that from starting?

Also when shooting raw video do I want to expose to the right a little also?

sorry my lingo is kind of weird.

Thanks for any  help.

General Chat / questions about photo profiles
April 15, 2019, 07:55:46 AM
Are there any hidden things in a photo profiles or is that just a the 4 settings of (saturation, contrast... etc)

I have a 5d3 with ml , but it would be nice to be able to set it, so for photos it uses a sd card, and for recording movies it defaults to the cf card.

If this isn't in there and I just missed it, is there place for feature requests?
