Hi,

I am trying to compile the source code for the 600D to make some small changes to the code from an old build.
I have downloaded Hg and Virtual Box but not quite sure the steps to getting and changing the source code.

I managed to do a autoexec.bin compile but can't work out how to make changes to the code.

I have a build with some specific features on it from 2013 that works on the 550D but I need to make it work on the 600D.
Any help on this would be great,

Thanks

Feature Requests / Long duration timelaspe
January 23, 2014, 12:03:52 PM
Hi All,

I am working for a production company that is making a wildlife series and it will include lots of Time lapse.
We have a long duration time-lapse box that we are building but are trying to make the images have less flicker.
Is this possible to do with Magic Lantern.

Using the internal clock or Advance Intervelometer module have 2 scheduled times across the day when a photo is taken.
However, if the shutter is less than 1/200 of a second then the photo wont be taken, the camera will wait 1 min and then try agin.

This should help result in a flicker free long duration time-lapse.
Please let me know your thoughts on this?

If possible you would have a module that had these options:

Time of day for scheduled shots:
Shutter restriction not to be less than:
Wait period between taking another meter reading:

Feature Requests / Time-lapse interval less then 1s
October 03, 2013, 05:34:22 PM
Hi,

Is it possible to start a time lapse and record 2 or 3 frames per second at constant intervals?
I could change the Intervalometer code so it gave you the options for 0.33, 0.25 and 0.5s it may work?
Any thoughts?

Cheers

Hi,

I was talking to a few of you on here about getting RAW recording start button select option to allow you to record with a wired remote through the cable release port?

This may be useful for anyone wanting to trigger remotely or wireless controls.

Is this possible to do?

Hi,

Would it be possible to make ML take a Still daily over a year for a long running timelapse?
Using canon auto power off (standby mode) to save battery and only turning on at a set time in the day?

Raw Video / RAW TL feature
May 27, 2013, 05:24:53 PM
Hi guys,

It seems from this test that the 5D mark II can manage the highest resolution shooting 0.5fps.
Maybe it would be possible to make it shoot full chip resolution TL with no mirror movement?

I know video TL using fps look different to normal RAW but it would be useful.

Here is my short test:

This is a TL test that was shot at almost full resolution with not a single dropped frame.
1880 x 1052 on a 5D mark II, 21st build.
I put FPS over ride to 0.5fps
RAW Video 1880 x 1052
Vari ND used, edited in AE RAW and Premier Pro.
The buffer was always less than ** and I could have continued forever with no dropped frames at all.

Also this test was done here:

Trying to find a practical use for the RAW video feature, The one that really pops out to me is the ability to do time lapses without having to add any shutter actuations to the camera

This test took 1 hour out behind my house, pretty dark aside from the full moon blasting the scene
5D Mark 2 May 20th build
640 ISO
T/1.5
FPS Override 0.178
RAW Video 1880x1250

I had to really adjust the color in post because the RAW kicked the magenta up a lot
Also had artifacts at the bottom of the frame

and there was this weird problem where every other frame was the first frame...
so instead of capturing 323 I actually captured 162

So I did a 162 frame time lapse without ever taking a picture ;]

Can you still hide the features in the new nightly build?
When I try the normal way, It changes to a grid list of the features.

Hi,

When you are using a DC coupler (dummy battery) with a household power supply, is there anyway to avoid the message on the screen telling you that it is not a real battery?

Also does this happen with a 550D as well as the 5d?

Thanks

Hi,

This feature might be usefull in testing battery use when using differnt features of ML.
If it is possible would it be possible to have a Mamp meter of say how much is left in the battery?

Hi,

Would it be possible to add a few less intervals in Auto power save turn off LCD and LV feature?
Say after 2 or 3 seconds - lowest possible? The lowest current setting is 5 seconds.

Alternatively is it possible to totally turn off the LV when recording a video?

Thanks

Hi

would it be possible to have several ghost images saved in the camera.
This is very useful when matching up time studies.
The current ML works with old images even after the image has been removed and stored else where and card formatted.

Would it be possible to add say 5 ghost images in ML and allow you to select between them.
Useful for timelapse that are following a season and seasonal photography, ect.

Thanks

Hi,

Your current feature movie REC key half shutter - allows you to use a wired remote (cable release) to start and stop video.
Would it be possible to have an option inside that feature that only starts the video and dosn't stop it?

Options      : half shutter.
                 : start& stop / start only.

This would be useful as with the current feature - two half presses or a second press on a wired remote - stops the video while it is recording.

Thanks

Hi,

A 5D mark II allows you to make folders inside the memory card, which is very helpful when doing lots of time lapses at different locations.
Would it be possible to get this feature onto ML as it is not on the 550D.

sorry if it has been requested before?

Thanks

Hardware and Accessories / battery options for charging
October 06, 2012, 02:12:50 PM
Hi,

I am looking into the best battery options for lasting the longest time. (for use in a camera trap)
I am thinking of the following:

Battery grip with eneloop XX high capacity batteries 2,500mAp - total of 15 Amps
Battery grip with high capacity batteries 3,000mAp - total of 18 Amps
Battery grip with canon batteries 1,120mAh - total of 2.24 Amps

Or use lorry batteries wired up to cameras with a transistor to give upto 70Amps

Any one any experience with any of these and have any advice?

Thanks

Feature Requests / [DONE] Camera trap trigger
October 03, 2012, 12:52:59 PM
Hi,

I am looking to develop an extension to Magic lantern to be able to trigger the camera to record movie for a short amount of time and then turn off after a set time?
The trigger is through the Lanc port of a 550D.
We are trying to look into ways of filming elusive big cats and creating camera traps to capture footage.

Dose anyone have any advice/ help or willing to make this as soon as possible? (If you do build it for me - I will pay for your services)

Thanks
All the best
