Would love your opinions.

Shot in 1080p raw on the 5d3.

Would love tips specifically on audio and lighting.

I just finished cutting together a collection of shots from 2018 and making them into an end of year video.

Hope you like it.

Hi guys,

Just finished a promotional video for a friend. Would love to get some feedback from people in that world of how I could improve for the next one.

Hi guys,

Have just started a series on Youtube teaching filmmaking basics. The idea is that I teach as I learn to hopefully improve my skills and others can benefit.

I shot everything in raw. I know there are some talented people on this forum so was hoping to get your honest opinion of how I can improve it ready for episode 2.

Thanks in advance

Hi guys,

In an effort to build my YouTube channel I made a tutorial video. I shot the b roll in raw. Would be great to get your opinions!

Raw Video / Help. Strange lines when shooting Raw
« on: December 29, 2018, 08:23:26 PM »

rudyard kipling short poems

I was on a shoot recently shooting in crop mode. 1920/60. 100/1 of a shutter to stop light flicker (i'm in the UK) and various apertures but mainly f2.8.

Part way through the shoot I noticed these horizontal lines on my image. I couldn't find a way around it until I switched to either PAL 50p.

Any ideas? is there a way to remove in post processing?

Hi guys,

Final part of our Interrail trip across Europe.

I used Lightroom to colour the clips as I come from a photography background so felt more natural for me.

Feedback would be great!

Share Your Videos / Lightroom Grading, opinion please!
« on: November 13, 2018, 07:27:28 PM »
Hi guys,

Previously I have been grading my clips by using the mlv app, exporting to prores with a flat profile and using a lut and tweaking in premiere pro. For this one I went back to an old (and long) workflow grading my dng files in Lightroom. It is way longer but I feel I have way more control. I understand that resolve would be quicker but I just don’t know my way around it.

I wanted to know if the extra effort was worth it. Could you give me your opinion on the grade?

Also anyone else using Lightroom? If so quickest workflow?

Share Your Videos / 24 Hours In Zurich, Switzerland - 5D Mark III 60fps
« on: November 06, 2018, 10:05:49 PM »

Some shots from a trip back in April to Zurich, Switzerland. It is a beautiful place and cant recommend it highly enough!

I recommend viewing a Zurich travel guide and researching the best sites. We viewed the Grossmunster and Fraumunster churches and sat by Lake Zurich. I wish we had time to visit Uetliberg however!

I shot the entire video with the 5D Mark III. I used the new 4k crop rec module and shot everything in 60fps 14 bit lossless raw. The lens was mainly the Canon 24-70 f2.8L version and some on the Samyang 14mm T3.2.

Would love your feedback!

Raw Video / Help! Colour grading, raw and non raw footage
« on: October 26, 2018, 08:42:19 AM »

I have been messing around with raw for around a year now and evolving my knowledge. One area I still lack in is colour grading. Previously I had shot raw or h264 not both. I shot a small personal project and really struggled to mix the two. The raw seemed muted. I did try to play around with lumetri but in my opinion without success.

My workflow used to be export all frames to dng then grade the first frame and apply to all in Lightroom. I am from a photography background so felt much more in control but the final output was not great.

Since then my process has been convert to pro res with a slog 3 picture profile, not sure why slog 3 but just seemed to work very well with the eoshd 3.5k raw lut. I would then tweak shadows etc from there.

Any tips or resources would be greatly appreciated. Also a quicker workflow! I use footage for Mac which only converts one video at a time :(.

Shot in beautiful Brighton in South East England. I had a Canon 1DX Mark II for the weekend along with a DJI Ronin S. The clips were shot with the 24-70mm f2.8 L version. Timelapses were shot on the Canon 5D Mark III using Magic Lantern. I used 120fps for almost all the shots and played with time remapping in post. Music and sound effects from epidemic sound.

Would love some constructive criticism!

A video from a recent trip to Paris. A quick 24 hour stop over before heading to the next location.

I shot all the video using a Canon 5D Mark III in 60 fps. I used the Footage app for Mac and applied a S-Log3 preset. Exported to Prores 444 and edited in Premiere Pro.

I had some spare time before a photoshoot in Brighton and decided to play around with some Magic Lantern 3K. I shot at 3008 x 1536 in 24p. I used the Footage app for Mac and applied a S-Log3 preset. Exported to Prores 444 and edited in Premiere Pro.

This week I toyed around with buying a Canon 1DC but there is something still special about the 5D Mark III with ML.

A shot from a recent visit to Folkestone in Kent. I shot this with a Canon 5D Mark III using magic lantern software. Using the crop mode I shot it in 1920 x 800 @ 60 fps. I then used the Footage app on Mac to convert to pro res 444. Edits using Abobe Premiere Pro.

Feedback welcome!

Tonight I just put a pause on my work and got back to what I love. I saw a beautiful field. Pulled over, jumped the fence and shot some clips, filmed and edited in a couple of hours. Loved it!

Raw Video Postprocessing / 60fps & AE, HELP!
« on: March 21, 2018, 12:06:34 AM »

I recently tried out the new crop module of the 5d3 and have a lot of 60fps raw dng's having converted them using footage.

I wanted to try after effects as resolve just crashes for me and I am much more comfortable using ACR coming from a photography background.

My current process is creating a comp in AE 1920 x 1080 60fps (I haven't decided which clips I want to slow yet). I then take the first dng and select image sequence and edit in ACR. I click and interpret the footage to 60fps as AE defaults to 30. I then drag the footage to the comp and resize to 1920 x 1080. I then export the footage in Pro res.

This seems painfully slow to do one by one, I have never used AE before so I would be grateful if anyone could explain how I can import my DNG's grade them in ACR one by one (I like this grading method) then fit them all to 1920 x 1080 60fps and export as individual pro res files within AME.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance

I have recently picked up a Canon 5D Mark iii and have been testing the crop modes.

I shot a mixture of 1080p (first three scenes), 3K and 3.5K. I have exported in 4K to maintain the maximum quality and reduce Youtube compression.

Looking forward to testing more with the 5d3 and really testing its capability. Look forward to some 4 & 5k tests!

Feedback welcome!
