General Help Q&A / Stable release for 5d MKIII?
May 02, 2014, 08:55:10 PM
Hey guys,
Sorry to the mods if this should be in camera-specific - it wouldn't let me make a post there?
Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone knows when a stable release for the Mk3 is likely to come out, as the camera has been out for a few years now? It'd be nice to not have to look at as many warning signs before downloading ML!!  :P
If this has been answered, my bad, i didn't see the thread, but I'm intrigued as to if anyone knows...
Hasta luego,

General Chat / New desktop for editing RAW
April 26, 2014, 06:47:29 PM
Hey guys. I'm a mac guy (have a MB air as a runaround) as i love the OS, and am currently in the market for a desktop in which to edit my videos and photos. I aspire to be a filmmaker, so my budget isn't too bad, at around £2000. For that i could get a custom PC with monitor(s) or a new iMac, and i was wondering which you think would be best for my needs? I run Adobe CC...and usually most apps at once...
I have nothing against PCs, just don't have one, and wanted to know your opinions? I shoot RAW on the 5d MKIII.
The problem i have with getting an iMac (even though they're beautiful) is that i don't feel very future-proofed - on a PC i can add and take whatever i want and have a great machine; not so much on the mac.

Anyway, enough rambling, what are your thoughts?

Thanks everyone

Like on the OM-D... to allow people to see what their long exposures look like, get good star trails etc. in real time

That would be sweet.

Strong first post:

Question's in the title. I'm coming as a photographer (using Fuji, and used to be canon but sold all my glass) to the filmmaking world and about to invest in either a 5d MK3 or a D800 to shoot short cinematic films, and was wondering why no one uses the D800? Looking at all of the online comparisons the D800 looks pretty damn good (apart from lowlight but i rarely shoot that) and better than the 5D iii out of the camera. Is it just because of the ML wizards turning the 5D into something next level? Ive heard that some people are making a ML equivalent for Nikon - thoughts? The D800 is arguably a better stills camera...

Cheers for input peeps!
