Just a small promotional short for the surf/skate shop I work at that I filmed with my 7d in MLV format.Converted with MLRawViewer, imported to ACR to WB and adjust exposure then added the new Cinelog V3 profile to the footage, upscaled from 1728x972 to 1920,converted Cinelog V3 to Cinelog-C via OpenColorIO,then exported using GoProCine codec (still trying to find out if this is better than ProRess 4444 open to suggestions).Edited in Premiere where I added Kodak Vision 2383 Grade 1 that was graciously provided from Andy600 in the Lut Bank.Just did a few more tweaks and that was pretty much it.Filmed on a monopod and a table slider, and just used a Canon 85 1.8 and my Canon 35 1.8 L...had to use the warp stabilizer on some of the clips and it kinda did a weird little effect on 2 of the cropped shots. I just want to thank all the developers, testers, and this community for giving me the knowledge I needed to do more unique projects like this. Big shout out to Andy600 for the amazing new Cinelog-C upgrades and Lut stoked to try and get better...

I recently went to Eleuthera, Bahamas and captured tons of RAW footage on my 7d thanks to Magic Lantern, and some underwater stuff from my GoPro..I am a complete beginner still when it comes to coloring and editing but because of this awesome community I feel like I have actually been able to achieve a decent workflow and put together some thing decent...I still have a long way to go but I am getting better.

Filmed 1728x972 MLV
Converted to DNG with MlRawViewer 1.2.3
Imported to After Effects, converted to Log with VisionLog, scaled up and then rendered to ProRess XQ
Imported back into After Effects for correcting and grading with various Luts
and edited in Premiere.

I look up to a lot of you guys and your awesome productions, I will probably always be a video hobbiest but have learned tons of great knowledge from this forum...Thanks again everyone for Magic Lantern(alex) and all the other developers that work on applications like MlRawViewer (badland)for us typical end users.

so I put together this little project to test the new Cinelog Log Lut for Davinci and see if created a easier workflow for my system.I am very happy with the results, and the proxies where rendered very quickly and worked great in Premiere.

here is a quick run down of what I did just in case any one was interested, I am still new at using this workflow so I am sure I could have done tons of things the surf was super fun so I did not film to much.

Filmed with 60D with the help of Magic Lantern MLV_REC...converted to LOG with Cinelog newest Davinci LUT and color corrected also in Davinci...then to Premiere..color graded Osiris M31 Lut....

So here is my first real attempt at a HDR photo..7 bracketed shots..thanks for the amazing functionality that everyone has provided.

This is my first complete Raw video project. Thanks to all the knowledge and great advice found here I was able to come up with something decent and a complete departure on how I used to approach filming. Also just to let you know I live in the Gulf Coast of Florida so do not expect the waves to be epic, we take what we can get and this was a day after a swell had come through. I also filmed the entire thing with my Canon 35 L, using the 5x zoom, which I prob will not do again due to the sharpness, but I just wanted to test it out.I am also fairly new at filming and editing so any advice would be great.

General Help Q&A / Difference from a good video to a awesome video.
« on: February 09, 2014, 06:29:58 PM »
I have a general question about the genesis of a short video. My question is to all the various video experts that contribute their awesome video's here and to the public, Do you usually already have a song or music in mind before you begin to capture your content? I am curious because I want to improve my video's, but when I record my content or subject should I already have a song or music already in mind, or does my content lead me to the song or music. I have noticed that the better video's coincide with the music, as far as tempo, cuts, and mood. I am an inspiring videographer, only really for personal applications, but i want to make better video's. If any one has any suggestions as far as genesis of a project that would be very helpful.I mainly film surfing, skating, and skimboarding for the surfshop I work for and I would like to make much better productions from start to finish. Thank you in advance for any suggestions from the inspiring community in this forum.
