Hi all, at the start of this month i woke up early to a orange sunlight bursting through my window and my first thought was......RAW!
I grabbed my Tripod, 50D, stuck a 18-200mm canon EF on and jogged to a nearby towerblock and got some nice London skyline shots.
After the towerblock shoot i had a shower and took a drive from London to Brighton as i was visiting family.
Then i said to my relatives eeerrm i dont get to see much of the beach in London...eerm im just popping to the beach with my camera.
They all huffed! Heres a short montage of the footage...

Many thanks to the magic lantern team for all their hard work and for giving
low/no budget film makers (like me) the chance to taste raw video and the awesome images
the dynamic range can offer.  ;)

Share Your Videos / eos 50D raw + Tokina 12-24mm

Hi all, Heres a Quick and Dirty test with my Tokina 12-24mm lens F4, All hand held (no Rig).
While on my way home from work i thought id grab a few shots under warm tube lights.
Shot as 1584x662 (2.39:1) This was also upscaled to 1920x1080 when creating the Mp4
from Cineform.

When i first started converting my footage i was using this process:
RAW to C-DNG to Cineform.AVI and i was getting a softer lower quality file
i then changed to -
RAW to C-DNG to CINEFORM.MOV and im getting 100% quality.
Just a tip for those on a Windows 32bit machine and cant run resolve!

Many thanks to ML for all their hard work and giving a low budget film maker like
me the chance to shoot RAW...

Share Your Videos / eos 50-D super low light
August 31, 2013, 05:52:00 PM
hi all, When ever i get a new video camera i always try a super low light test. After buying a 50d a few weeks ago ive been trying out the RAW video option. Having RAW video to a Low Budget Film maker like me is a god send.
So here is a quick and dirty low light test with a old Olympus (mc) 50mm F1.8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8ghVA_GHwg&feature=c4-overview&list=UUn6D3jzuIdbAjFhjz3hIywQ

Also at 1min55sec as the van passes the frame you will notice that a auto exposure adjustment happens.
im not sure why this happens as everything was set to MANUAL. Ive noticed this on some other shots
ive done when ive been panning from a darker image to a brighter image, ive owned 7D for almost 3 years
that ive used for video only and never noticed this on the 7D. i tried the AEB option in the CANON menus to
try and bracket the exposure shift, ive also tried the AV/TV exposure lock option but the exposure still
seems to shift. If anyone could shed some light on this i would be grateful.
My next test are going to be with my ANAMORPHIC lenses...cant wait!
I would like to thank the Magic Lantern team and all their hard work.
